At this moment, after the appointments had concluded, Yu Zi Yu’s gaze shifted to a distant corner.

In that corner stood several figures, quietly and calmly.

One of them was a tall, slender woman. Her green dress accentuated her captivating curves, making her appearance unbelievably alluring.

Her face was also strikingly seductive, with her phoenix-like eyes radiating charm and allure.

At just a glance, one could tell she was an extraordinary beauty.

However, when one’s gaze dropped lower, they would notice that her lower body was actually a serpentine tail covered in emerald-green scales.

The layers of scales, resembling fish scales, shimmered in the shiny luster, reflecting dazzling colors.

This was Snake Queen, once revered as the Left Guardian of Misty Mountains.

But now… She stood alone in the corner.

“Snake Queen…” Hearing her name called out, the seductive figure trembled slightly.

Moments later, she bit her lip and slithered toward Yu Zi Yu, drawing closer with each sway of her body.

“Why did you refuse the role of Guardian of the Demon Court…?” Yu Zi Yu’s voice carried a hint of coldness, as if questioning her.

Originally, according to his wishes, the roles of the Left and Right Guardians would remain the same. Held by Little White and Snake Queen, respectively.

However, to his surprise, after he announced Little White as the Right Guardian, Snake Queen’s voice unexpectedly reached his ears, requesting that she not be appointed as the Right Guardian.

This was the reason why Yu Zi Yu had immediately chosen Sweet Osmanthus to assume the position of Left Guardian.

However, after he declared Osmanthus as the Demon Court’s Left Guardian, various strange glances fell upon Snake Queen, who shrank further into the corner.

Some seemed astonished, others puzzled. After all, most of the Mutant Beasts remained in their original roles. However, Snake Queen, despite once being the Left Guardian, had now seemingly lost her position.

“Master…” Snake Queen bit her lip hard, hesitating for a moment.

After a brief pause, as if she had made a decision, she finally spoke truthfully. “Master, though I have long served as the Left Guardian of Misty Mountains, I haven’t contributed much. Moreover, I am a solitary being… unsuited for such an important position.”

As she spoke, she hesitated once more, but after taking a deep breath, she continued, “Now that the Demon Court is newly established, we must appoint more suitable individuals…”

“…” For a rare moment, Yu Zi Yu fell silent, finding himself at a loss for words.

Indeed, as Snake Queen had pointed out, she was ill-suited for the role of Guardian.

Although the status of the Guardians was not like the Ten Great Divine Beasts or the Three Heavenly Kings, who were akin to feudal lords, they were still positions of significant importance.

In fact, in some respects, the status of a Guardian was even higher.

They had direct access to the highest authority, were responsible for upholding the laws of the Demon Court, and were vital to its operations, serving as both protectors and maintainers of its order.

Moreover…

Sensing something amiss, Yu Zi Yu’s gaze toward Snake Queen sharpened.

“Indeed…” With a sigh, Yu Zi Yu gazed at Snake Queen, his eyes filled with a touch of sympathy.

“Upon awakening your Bloodline, you also inherited a curse, did not you?” This sudden remark sent a shock through Snake Queen, causing her whole body to tremble, even her shoulders shook, as though in sorrow.

It was the curse of Medusa. As her power grew stronger, so too would her ugliness.

Her long hair would turn into countless serpentine creatures. Golden scales would cover her entire body, and a pair of wings, resembling those of an eagle, would sprout from her back.

This was the true form of Snake Queen.

More precisely, if Snake Queen were to break through to Tier-5, she would fully transform into this grotesque figure.

For those who sought only power, this might not be so terrible, but for someone like Snake Queen, who cherished her own beauty, this was something she could not accept.

Because of this, Snake Queen had deliberately suppressed her own cultivation, remaining at the Early Stage of Tier-4.

Considering her ancient and pure Bloodline, which had awakened long ago, and with access to the abundant resources of Misty Mountains, she could have easily reached the Late Stage of Tier-4, or even higher.

Yet, Snake Queen was still lingering at the Early Stage of Tier-4.

It was clear that her lack of advancement was tied to her refusal of the Guardian role.

In the world of Transcendence, strength was revered. Without sufficient power, it would be difficult to command respect.

“…Master…” Biting her teeth tightly, Snake Queen’s eyes quivered.

After a moment, glancing at the Towering Tree not far away, she hesitated no longer and began to explain, “The curse of Medusa has burdened our lineage since ancient times. It is said that our ancestors offended some ancient deity, which led to this unbreakable curse. This curse has fused with our Bloodline, not only making us increasingly hideous but also limiting our growth…”

“The Medusa Clan, in terms of talent, is no less than many superior races. Below Tier-6, we can even rival the Elves and Dragons. However, in all of my inherited knowledge, not a single one of our Clan has ever broken through to the Realm of Hegemony… And that is why I have tirelessly sought a way to lift this curse…”

“If the curse cannot be broken, I fear I will be stuck at this stage for the rest of my life…” As Snake Queen continued to speak, her body began to change. Before their very eyes, her once-beautiful hair came alive, transforming into countless venomous snakes.

*Hiss… hiss…* Accompanied by shrill hisses filling the air, an ominous aura began to spread.

At the same time, her eyes grew more and more profound, resembling amethyst gemstones, enchanting and dangerous.

The eyes of the Medusa Clan were magical eyes, the most beautiful and terrifying in the world.

One glance could turn anyone without a strong will to stone.

This was far more fearsome and eerie than any mere spiritual attack.

“Me…du…sa…” murmuring to himself, Yu Zi Yu stared blankly at Snake Queen, now revealing her new form.

Indeed, she was terrifying.

Her aura surged dramatically. In just a moment, she had approached the Late Stage of Tier-4.

However, just as Snake Queen had said, she had also become exceedingly hideous, like a monstrous creature straight out of a nightmare.
