Eternal Thief

‘This should be the entrance…’ Ace stood in front of the hidden entrance of the ancient remnant.

Although he couldn’t see or feel anything, the fate map showed the path ahead clearly, and it was still bright golden, even though he had already seen those fate points going in this way.

But Ace wasn’t going to step inside just like that. Instead, he used the lawless darkness to sneak inside, which also decreased any chances of triggering any traps, and nothing could halt his progress.

As Ace entered the cavern passage, he also observed his surroundings and mused, ‘Why does this place seem like a ruin of some corridor? It’s clearly not naturally formed…’

Ace went deeper and suddenly stopped when he saw those murals. A hint of astonishment surfaced in his eyes, ‘What is this place? Could it be this is some ruin of an old sect? But most importantly, while those fate points are ahead on this pathway, why I’m seeing a path behind this mural?’

He looked closely at the fate map and then at the mural, which showed a radiant figure. Although the rest of the mural was either damaged or faded, the radiant figure was still quite detailed.

Furthermore, Ace could clearly see a long pathway behind this mural, and since the men of the Runic Alchemy City hadn’t touched this place, and instead, on the other passage, Ace thought they hadn’t discovered this hidden passage.

‘Since this entire terrain is bright golden, I should probably check this place first since others haven’t discovered it yet. As for whatever they are doing on the other side, I can see a cross point. So, maybe this passage leads to the same place, but it’s hidden and slightly longer…’

With anticipation, Ace moved forward and directly passed through the mural, and the next moment, he appeared in another dark passage. When he looked behind, he was startled because he saw a line of engraved words behind the mural that weren’t written in any known language.

But Ace easily deciphered them, “O’ will of heaven…I damned you before I’ll be damned by your tricks…”

Ace’s eyes widened slightly when he recited that cryptic yet imposing script, ‘Whoever had written this was clearly not happy with heaven. But seeing how this place turned out, I can only imagine who ended up damning who in the end…’ A hint of pity surfaced in his eyes as he looked at those words.

After glancing at those words for one last time, Ace turned around and started walking deeper into the passage, but now he was quite curious about this place, especially about that person who had written those words.

The path seemed to be leading down, and it was completely dark, but Ace could see clearly, and he could tell that it had been a very long time since this passage was being used.

After carefully walking through the passage from the fate map, he saw that this passage was now completely aligned with the passage of those Runic Alchemy City people.

‘I’m below them!’ Ace looked at the ceiling as he could see some fate points walking right above him, and he was now sure that this passage was a hidden path.

As he continued forward, Ace saw the end of the passage, which opened in a spacious chamber, and what he saw left him slightly flabbergasted. The walls of this chamber were covered in a web of delicate golden branches pulsing with starry light, and he could feel a peculiar law’s presence that was unknown to him.

However, Ace’s attention was instantly drawn to a white pedestal in the center of this chamber, and for some reason, it wasn’t touched by those golden branches at all.

But the strangest thing about this pedestal was a golden red stele on top of it with a single glyph etched on its smooth surface. However, it seemed entirely out of place because there wasn’t any trace of damage or time on this stele, as if it was completely new.

However, what shocked Ace was the glyph on it because he instantly recognized it, and his eyes went wide, ‘It’s the language of Ancient Gods!’

Ace knew what this stele was. It was extraordinary because of the Language of Ancient God, and without hesitation, he used the absolute pickpocket to grab the stele because there was no protective formation!

The moment Ace touched the stele, he was instantly sent to his thief’s space because he didn’t dare to study it in this place, and he was also afraid something might trigger if he kept it out.

But Ace was wrong because the moment he picked up the stele, the pedestal trembled, and then sounds of cogwheels clicking and turning rang in the chamber before the pedestal started to sink into the ground.

‘It’s a mechanism! That’s why I didn’t sense any Qi on it…’ Ace was startled as he felt something was going to happen, and without hesitation, he turned to flee.

But before he could even take a step, he suddenly stopped, ‘Rumblllleeeee…’

Thunderous rumbling reverberated throughout the ancient remnant, and the next moment, the passage behind Ace started to cave in, and the chamber also became unstable.

‘If I don’t leave, I’ll be forced to reveal my position!’ Ace was about to use the lawless darkness to go through everything when he suddenly noticed something strange.

He saw the golden branches in the chamber seem to be retracting back towards their source, leaving behind a hole in the sealing, and at this moment, an enticing scent filled with powerful spirit, Qi, gushed out of the opening.

The moment Ace took a whiff of it, he felt his cultivation heart stirred ever so slightly, startling him, as he looked towards the opening.

After considering his options, Ace gritted his teeth and decided to follow the scent and the source of that mysterious spirit Qi that made his heart react to it.

Although he knew it was a considerable risk since those guys were right above him, he wanted to see what this was, and if he fell into danger, he’d have to either flee or make the others flee!
