Chapter 247: Chapter 247: Blood Patterned Wolf

The outer perimeter of the Mysterious Forest was dark and damp, but once they broke through it, it was like a completely different world. This area was no different from an ordinary forest, except that the trees were massive, towering ancient trees.

The uncomfortable, humid heat was gone from the air. The Monk and Daoist excitedly jumped into a nearby lake. They had been complaining incessantly for days.

Having finally made it through the outer perimeter of the Mysterious Forest, Lin Yun also jumped into the lake to wash himself off.

However, the Mysterious Forest, a place that even experts at the Late Stage of the Primordial Ocean Realm found difficult to navigate, was naturally not so simple. Just as the three of them were finally able to wash away their exhaustion, little did they know they had already been surrounded.

Lin Yun’s senses were the sharpest. While the Monk and Daoist were still happily splashing around in the water, he had already sensed danger approaching.

”There’s danger,” he warned in a low voice. Hearing his words, the Monk and Daoist didn’t dare let their guard down. The three of them quickly leaped out of the water, their gazes fixed on the surrounding woods as if facing a powerful foe.

Within a dozen breaths, a rustling sound echoed from the woods. Moments later, large, muscular Blood Patterned Wolves began to emerge one after another.

There were over forty of them, and each Blood Patterned Wolf had distinct, blood-red markings in its fur.

”Damn it, they’re Blood Patterned Wolves...” the Monk couldn’t help but curse upon seeing the pack.

Blood Patterned Wolves were Tier Two Demon Beasts. Ferocious by nature, they were known to attack even Tier Three Demon Beasts. They were social creatures, and every pack was led by an alpha.

As the Blood Patterned Wolves surrounded Lin Yun’s group, a particularly large and muscular wolf stepped forward. The pack parted, clearing a path for it.

Clearly, this was their leader.

Surrounded by so many Blood Patterned Wolves, forget Lin Yun’s group; even an expert at the Late Stage of the Primordial Ocean Realm could be eaten alive if they weren’t careful.

However, when facing Demon Beasts, Lin Yun possessed a trump card no one else had: Little Ape. Having awakened its Bloodline Power, Little Ape could suppress even a Tier Three Demon Beast like the Black-striped Tiger. The Blood Patterned Wolves would naturally be no problem.

This was the very reason Lin Yun dared to enter the Mysterious Forest. It was just that they hadn’t encountered any Demon Beasts in the outer perimeter, so there had been no opportunity to use Little Ape’s Bloodline Power.

”Little Ape,” Lin Yun called softly, giving it a meaningful nod.

Understanding Lin Yun’s intent, Little Ape immediately released its Bloodline Power. The moment it did, the Blood Patterned Wolves felt an immense pressure from its bloodline.

ROOOAR... Fearful howls rose and fell from the pack. The alpha wolf, in particular, was the focus of Little Ape’s attention. It was already prostrated obediently on the ground.

’To catch the thief, first catch the king.’ Lin Yun understood this principle well. As long as he subdued the alpha, he subdued the entire pack.

Having completely suppressed the alpha, Little Ape zipped over and landed on its head. Just as it had done when taming the Black-striped Tiger, Little Ape let out a series of low growls at the wolf.

In human terms, Little Ape was giving the Blood Patterned Wolf a furious scolding.

On the receiving end of Little Ape’s tirade, the Blood Patterned Wolf let out a low growl, its tone thick with fear. As it was only a Tier Two Demon Beast, suppressing it was not difficult for Little Ape.

The Blood Patterned Wolves’ strength lay in their numbers. Had Little Ape not subdued the alpha, being besieged by dozens of them would have meant certain doom for Lin Yun’s group, even with the Black-striped Tiger’s help.

After a final series of roars, Little Ape had completely awed the Blood Patterned Wolves into submission. Led by their alpha, the dozens of wolves all prostrated themselves before Little Ape.

Watching this scene unfold, the Monk and Daoist were utterly stunned. The notoriously ferocious Blood Patterned Wolves had been pacified by Little Ape in an instant. By the looks of it, they had completely submitted to him.

”Holy cow, this is...” The Monk rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

Even a Primordial Ocean Realm expert would have to rely on brute force to kill these Blood Patterned Wolves, and a single misstep could prove fatal. Yet, unbelievably, Little Ape had actually tamed them.

Pounding its chest, Little Ape signaled to Lin Yun that the job was done.

He had handled the entire wolf pack without breaking a sweat. Even now, the Monk and Daoist felt as if they were dreaming. It was all too surreal.

Of course, this was because the two of them didn’t know that Little Ape had awakened its bloodline. In the Eastern Domain, it was incredibly rare to encounter a Demon Beast with an awakened bloodline, let alone one as noble as Little Ape’s. A creature like it might not even exist on the entire Celestial Spirit Continent.

”Have them go hunt some other Demon Beasts for us. We haven’t had any meat in days,” Lin Yun instructed Little Ape.

Hearing this, Little Ape stood on the alpha’s head and let out a few low growls. The pack quickly disappeared into the forest, presumably to hunt other Demon Beasts.

”Young Master Lin, that was... How did you do that?” the Monk and Daoist asked, looking at Lin Yun with worshipful expressions.

”That’s a secret,” Lin Yun replied with a faint smile, offering no explanation. ’Explaining Demon Beast bloodlines would be too much trouble,’ he thought. ’Besides, these two aren’t exactly loyal allies. I can’t just tell them everything.’

Seeing that Lin Yun wasn’t going to answer, a flicker of disappointment crossed their faces, but it was instantly replaced by an exaggerated, fawning smile.

The two exchanged a look and simultaneously approached Lin Yun, the Monk moving behind him and the Daoist in front.

They helped Lin Yun over to a rock to sit down. The Monk began massaging his shoulders while the Daoist started on his legs. The sycophantic smiles on their faces made it look like they wanted to kneel and lick his boots.

”Young Master Lin, we’re going to be rich!” the Daoist exclaimed. ”Why is the Mysterious Forest so terrifying? Because it’s filled with Tier Three Demon Beasts! For Primordial Ocean Realm experts, entering this place is a near-certain death sentence. But now that you can subdue these Demon Beasts, what is there left for us to fear in here?”

”I’ve been saying it all along! Young Master Lin is one of heaven’s favored! There’s no going wrong when you follow him,” the Monk added. ”I’ve seen the light. From now on, I’ll follow Young Master Lin’s every command. If Young Master Lin tells me to go east, I’ll never go west.”

Listening to their endless praise, Lin Yun didn’t know whether to laugh or scold them. He knew exactly what these two were thinking.

They had simply set their sights on the Mysterious Forest. This place was known as the Eastern Domain’s Land of Death; no one below the Primordial Ocean Realm would dare set foot inside.

But now, things were different. Since Little Ape could subdue the Demon Beasts here, didn’t that mean they could roam the Mysterious Forest without any obstruction?

’A forest this vast and untrodden by man must be overflowing with Spirit Medicines and Spirit Fruits. If we could take all of it...’ The mere thought was enough to make the Monk and Daoist drool.

Their one and only pursuit was money. Now, the wealth of the entire Mysterious Forest was laid out before them. It was like asking a fox to guard the henhouse.

There was no way they were going to pass up this opportunity. The Monk and Daoist began to shower Lin Yun with praise, spouting every flattering phrase they could think of. They were just one step away from getting on their knees to lick his boots.

They waited on Lin Yun hand and foot—massaging him, fetching him water, and showering him with compliments. At that moment, in their eyes, neither the Buddha nor the Boundless Celestial Venerable was worth a single one of Lin Yun’s toes.
