Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 214: Chapter 214: An Unforgettable Trial

Lin Yun was living an extremely comfortable life with the Wang Family. He had actually woken up three days prior, but his injuries had been so severe that he still needed a few more days to recover. As soon as Wang Yi heard the news, he rushed over to visit.

In a stark contrast to their first meeting, Wang Yi’s enthusiasm and concern for Lin Yun were so great that even Lin Yun himself felt a little unsettled.

But on second thought, Lin Yun quickly came to terms with it. ’This world is just that pragmatic; everything is built on a foundation of strength. Now that I’m one of the top ten geniuses on the Yanhuang List and even the Royal Family values me, of course Wang Yi wouldn’t dare to put on airs anymore.’

In contrast to Lin Yun’s leisurely life, Tang Wushuang, thousands of miles away, was living a world apart. For reasons unknown, he was being constantly sabotaged during his training, and the ones antagonizing him were three Martial Artists at the Late Stage of the Qi Sea Realm.

During this time, Tang Wushuang was practically burning with a rage he had no way to vent. It was as if those three had latched onto him, following him all the way from the Mysterious City into the depths of the Yunlu Mountain Range, pulling their stunts on him every so often.

At that moment, meditating inside a cave in the Yunlu Mountain Range, Tang Wushuang’s tightly closed eyes slowly opened. The instant they did, a piercing aura flashed from his gaze.

”Finally, the Second Layer of the Qi Sea Realm. You three bastards, today is the day you die,” Tang Wushuang said coldly.

His hatred for the trio was simply beyond words. He remembered one time when he was drinking at a tavern in a small town outside the Yunlu Mountain Range. Unbelievably, those three had spiked his wine with a laxative.

After downing that pot of wine, Tang Wushuang spent three whole days with diarrhea. And that wasn’t all. During those three days, while he was indisposed, the three of them had even blasted the latrine to smithereens with a single palm strike.

Tang Wushuang seared every single one of these incidents into his memory. ’Who sent these three to target me?’ he wondered. He had fought them before. Back then, as a mere Ninth Layer Opening Realm cultivator, he was no match for the trio, yet they hadn’t killed him.

From that moment on, Tang Wushuang realized someone had to be pulling the strings. The first person who came to his mind was Lin Yun. ’Besides Lin Yun,’ he thought, ’who else could be this shameless?’

Now that he had broken through to the Second Layer of the Qi Sea Realm, Tang Wushuang emerged from the cave and deliberately began to wander through the Yunlu Mountain Range. He moved slowly, naturally waiting for the trio to take the bait.

”The kid’s about to reach the trap we set.” Three men in masked, black robes watched Tang Wushuang from a distance. These were the very same three students from the lesser class back in the Imperial City Mountain Range.

Under Lin Yun’s control, the three had returned to the Academy and gone to great lengths, first bribing an Elite Class student, and then using that student to bribe someone from the Genius Class. Only then did they manage to learn of Tang Wushuang’s whereabouts.

Wasting no time, the three quickly traveled to the Mysterious City to find him. For nearly a year since, they had been stuck to Tang Wushuang like glue, constantly causing trouble for him. While they never seriously injured him, they left him utterly worn out.

Scanning his surroundings, Tang Wushuang moved with caution. Just as he took a step forward, dozens of sharpened wooden stakes shot toward him from less than five meters away.

”Hmph! You cowards who only know how to hide! Did you really think a few pathetic splinters of wood could deal with me, Tang Wushuang?” With a cold snort, Tang Wushuang didn’t even try to dodge. He leaped twenty meters into the air and instantly cast the Golden Light Seal. A great seal formed of Golden Light materialized in the sky, smashing the dozens of wooden stakes to pieces.

But before Tang Wushuang could celebrate, a second trap sprung the moment he landed. A pit more than ten meters deep opened up right under his feet, and caught completely off guard, he plunged straight in.

In Tang Wushuang’s eyes, a simple pitfall like this was child’s play; it could never hold him. However, the bottom of the pit was filled to the brim with Demon Beast dung.

Plunging directly into the pile of dung, Tang Wushuang erupted in fury. This was absolutely intolerable! Ricocheting off the walls, he quickly leaped out of the pit in a few bounds.

By then, however, Tang Wushuang was already covered in Demon Beast dung, reeking of a powerful stench.

”Get the hell out here, you three hiding rats! AAAAGH... I, Tang Wushuang, swear I will kill you with my own hands!” he roared madly at the surrounding woods. He had lost count of how many times he had ended up in the company of dung on this journey.

His furious roars echoed through the forest, but the only reply he received was the whisper of the wind and the low growls of distant Demon Beasts.

The stench covering his body soured his mood completely. ’Those three won’t confront me head-on,’ he fumed internally. ’They only know how to use these despicable tricks to humiliate me.’

The waves of stench made Tang Wushuang burn with rage. He couldn’t find the trio, so the first priority was to find a place to wash off the filth. ’The dignified Young Prince of Yunlu County, covered from head to toe in dung... If anyone saw me like this, I’d be too ashamed to ever show my face again.’

Before long, Tang Wushuang found a small lake. Its clear water was perfect for washing himself clean.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Tang Wushuang leaped into the water and began to scrub himself frantically.

Tang Wushuang, busy in the water, failed to notice the three students from the lesser class who had been following him. They suddenly hurled a newborn Thunder Tiger cub right at him.

SPLASH! The Thunder Tiger cub landed in the water. Hearing the noise, Tang Wushuang swam over to investigate and discovered it was a newborn Thunder Tiger cub.

A year’s worth of experience made Tang Wushuang’s heart sink. ’This is definitely the work of those three!’ Even as the realization dawned on him, it was already too late.

A great roar echoed through the forest as a Tier Three Peak Thunder Tiger charged out from the dense woods. When it saw the small Thunder Tiger in Tang Wushuang’s hands, the adult beast’s eyes instantly filled with intense killing intent as it lunged toward him.

With no time to hesitate, Tang Wushuang tossed the small cub aside, circulated his Elemental Power, and leaped out of the water, bolting into the forest without a backward glance.

But the adult Thunder Tiger clearly had no intention of letting him go. After tossing its cub onto its back, it gave chase, intent on killing him.

As the overlord of this forest, the great beast could not tolerate anyone daring to make a move on its cub. It was now dead set on killing Tang Wushuang.

’To be chased by a Tier Three Demon Beast for no damn reason again!’ Tang Wushuang was about to be driven mad with rage. ’It must have been those three! Who the hell are they? And who sent them?’

Hiding in the shadows, the three watched Tang Wushuang flee for his life. ”Tang Wushuang really is a genius,” one of them said. ”He’s already broken through to the Second Layer of the Qi Sea Realm. We’ll have to be more careful from now on.”

At his words, the other two nodded in agreement.

What followed was a race of life and death. A Tier Three Thunder Tiger chasing a human threw the entire forest into an uproar.
