Chapter 233: Chapter 233: The True Strength of the Top 10 Geniuses

Hearing Wu Tianyuan’s words, a smile touched the corners of Lin Yun’s lips. ’Honestly, the me of today is in a completely different league compared to when I challenged the Yanhuang List. If I were to face Kang Lai now, I’m confident I could kill him within ten moves.’

The Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear appeared in his hand. Lin Yun smiled without a trace of fear. ”I definitely won’t disappoint you, Senior.”

”Haha, good! Be careful, Junior.” With a hearty laugh, Wu Tianyuan’s figure vanished in an instant. When he reappeared, he was already right in front of Lin Yun.

He was fast—at least twice as fast as before. But this speed only surprised Lin Yun; it didn’t cause him to panic. As the twin blades in Wu Tianyuan’s hands slashed down, Lin Yun’s body vanished into thin air, leaving only an afterimage.

”An afterimage! He’s so fast, I didn’t even see when he moved,” one of the spectating Martial Artists exclaimed in amazement.

At that moment, Lin Yun’s figure appeared behind Wu Tianyuan, and he unleashed a lightning-fast spear thrust. But he, too, only struck an afterimage.

Both of their attacks struck nothing but afterimages. It was clear their speed had completely surpassed the Qi Sea Realm, reaching the Primordial Ocean Realm Level.

’He’s so fast, more than three times faster than Kang Lai...’ Lin Yun was inwardly astonished that his attack had also hit nothing but an afterimage of Wu Tianyuan.

”Dual Wind Blades...” With no time to dwell on it, Wu Tianyuan appeared above Lin Yun. Slashing his twin blades in a cross, he formed a cruciform wind blade that shot fiercely down at Lin Yun.

”Thunderfire Bombardment.” The power of the Dual Wind Blades was terrifying, and Lin Yun could feel it from afar. As things stood, only his Thunderfire Bombardment could hope to counter it.

With a thrust of his spear, dense flames carrying the power of thunder slammed into the Dual Wind Blades. The massive shockwave sent the surrounding Martial Artists stumbling back.

Ripples spread through the empty space where the attacks collided, even more powerfully than the earlier Air Burst. The spatial distortions were like the waves from a great boulder dropped into water, refusing to settle for a long time.

”An impressive strike, Junior. But how many of my Dual Wind Blades can you block?” As his voice fell, Wu Tianyuan launched three more Dual Wind Blades in succession.

The three Dual Wind Blades formed a pincer formation as they converged on Lin Yun, completely sealing off his escape routes. With his path of retreat blocked, his only option was to meet the attack head-on.

’He can unleash an attack of such power consecutively...’ Lin Yun stared at the three incoming Dual Wind Blades. His own Thunderfire Bombardment required a few moments to charge before each use. In other words, Lin Yun was not yet capable of casting Thunderfire Bombardment in rapid succession.

’I’ll have to risk it!’ With a surge of resolve, Lin Yun mobilized the Elemental Power in his body, pushing Thunderfire Bombardment to its absolute limit. However, even at this point, he was still compressing the power of the attack. He wanted to break past his limit and use a single Thunderfire Bombardment to counter all three of Wu Tianyuan’s Dual Wind Blades.

The dense flames were more than twice as concentrated as a normal Thunderfire Bombardment. The surrounding lightning had turned a pale violet, and you could faintly hear the rumbling of thunder.

’It’s that much stronger than before?’ Wu Tianyuan’s expression shifted slightly as he looked at the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear in Lin Yun’s hand. The Thunderfire Bombardment Lin Yun was now unleashing made even him feel a sense of danger.

”Thunderfire Bombardment...!” With a great roar, the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear thundered as it slammed into the three Dual Wind Blades.

The shockwave generated by this collision sent the surrounding spectators flying. The weaker Martial Artists among them even suffered serious injuries.

Although he had successfully blocked Wu Tianyuan’s Dual Wind Blades, Lin Yun had already consumed nearly half of his Elemental Power. In contrast, Wu Tianyuan’s aura remained smooth and stable. It seemed he had barely used any Elemental Power at all.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Wu Tianyuan launched another three Dual Wind Blades, this time aiming for the forest beside the official road. In an instant, they flattened an area several miles wide.

Lin Yun looked at Wu Tianyuan and understood his point. Those last three Dual Wind Blades were meant to show him that Wu Tianyuan still had plenty of power left, and his attacks hadn’t weakened in the slightest.

Although Lin Yun didn’t believe he would necessarily lose in a true fight to the death, he was nonetheless deeply impressed by Wu Tianyuan’s Combat Power.

They were both among the top ten geniuses of the Yanhuang List, yet Kang Lai probably couldn’t even withstand a single one of Wu Tianyuan’s moves. This huge disparity made Lin Yun wonder if the gap between every rank on the Yanhuang List was just as massive.

As Lin Yun watched, Wu Tianyuan put away his twin blades and gave him a good-natured smile.

”This is the true Combat Power of a top-ten genius on the Yanhuang List. Although everyone in the top ten is a supreme genius, the gaps between us are still immense. You saw that for yourself just now.”

”I’m sure you understand. Killing someone of Kang Lai’s caliber would be effortless for me. However, those three at the very top of the list could kill me just as effortlessly. Do you see what I mean?”

Wu Tianyuan explained, and Lin Yun nodded in understanding.

In his heart, Wu Tianyuan bore Lin Yun no malice. They were both students at Yanhuang Academy, and neither of them came from a powerful background. Because of this, Wu Tianyuan felt a natural urge to look out for Lin Yun, which was why he was telling him these things.

”The top ten geniuses of the Yanhuang List are incredible, no doubt about it. Anyone who makes it onto the Yanhuang List can be considered a supreme genius. However, the Combat Power of these supreme geniuses can still vary greatly—just compare me to Kang Lai,” Wu Tianyuan continued.

The difference in Combat Power between geniuses is caused by many factors: Martial Skills, Cultivation Techniques, one’s level of Cultivation, and especially one’s comprehension of their Martial Skills and their application of Elemental Power.

”Lin Yun, your Thunderfire Bombardment is very powerful, but its weakness is also obvious. You need a few moments to charge it up before every use. That may seem like a short time, but in a real battle, it’s more than enough to determine the winner.”

”If you can practice your Thunderfire Bombardment to the point where you can unleash it instantly, your Combat Power will see a fundamental improvement.”

Wu Tianyuan said with a smile.

Lin Yun nodded in agreement. ’He’s right. Thunderfire Bombardment is a Martial Skill I created myself. It’s powerful, but because I haven’t had it for long, I still haven’t completely perfected it—hence the charging time.’

But Wu Tianyuan didn’t know this; he just assumed Thunderfire Bombardment was a Martial Skill Lin Yun was practicing. If Wu Tianyuan were to find out that Lin Yun had created it himself, and in little more than a month...

...he would probably have a very different opinion. To create such a powerful Martial Skill while only in the Qi Sea Realm—and to refine it to this level of usability in just one short month—was a feat that not even the Crown Prince, who ranked first on the Yanhuang List, could accomplish.

”Interested in grabbing a drink with me?” Wu Tianyuan walked over to Lin Yun, patted him on the shoulder, and asked.

Lin Yun nodded. He liked Wu Tianyuan’s personality. Moreover, as a fellow student of Yanhuang Academy who had kindly shared so much information, Lin Yun wanted to befriend him as well.
