Chapter 230: Chapter 230: Crazy Money-Making

The Monk and Daoist, fighting for their lives, were willing to give up anything. Lin Yun almost had to admire them. Their mouths were like machine guns, unleashing a constant barrage of flattery in his direction.

They hailed Lin Yun as a peerless genius, the sole honored one in heaven and on earth, and the most handsome man alive. In short, they were using every praiseworthy word they could conjure up.

”Alright, alright, that’s enough,” Lin Yun cut in, unable to listen anymore. ”I can spare you, but you must become my servants for three years. After that, I’ll set you free.”

Lin Yun had expected them to hesitate, but they accepted almost instantly, without a moment’s consideration. It was clear they were genuinely afraid he would kill them.

”Yes, yes, of course, Young Master Lin! From now on, you are my master! I’ll turn from my righteous ways, forsake the Buddha, and place my faith in you!” the Monk said with seeming sincerity.

”That’s right, that’s right! Belief in Young Master Lin grants eternal life! I, the Daoist, will follow Young Master Lin’s every lead,” the Daoist chimed in.

Their eyes were so sincere that if Lin Yun hadn’t already understood their dispositions, he might have actually believed them.

Lin Yun knew that the only way to make them obedient was to control them. These two were cowards who clung to life and feared death. As long as he held their lives in his hands, they wouldn’t dare make a move.

He ordered Little Ape to watch over the two of them. With their meridians sealed by Lin Yun, they were powerless, and Little Ape’s strength was more than enough to keep them completely subdued.

Mounting the Black-striped Tiger, Lin Yun took the lead. The Monk and Daoist followed behind the tiger’s rear, sheepish grins on their faces. As for Little Ape, it lounged lazily on the Monk’s shoulder.

After a long detour, Lin Yun made his way back to the main road, where the travelers there witnessed a bizarre scene.

An ordinary-looking young man rode a majestic and imposing Black-striped Tiger. Following behind him were a fat Monk and a thin Daoist. The two seemed terrified of the youth on the tiger’s back, constantly showering him with flattery, their faces plastered with fawning smiles.

At first, it wasn’t so bad, but after two or three days, Lin Yun grew annoyed. The Monk and Daoist were like two flies, buzzing incessantly in his ears.

”I say, you two,” Lin Yun said softly, ”since you’ve become my servants, shouldn’t you be making yourselves useful?”

”Of course, of course! Young Master Lin, just give the command! Even if you asked me to kidnap the current Emperor’s women, I wouldn’t bat an eye!” the Daoist replied, trying to curry favor.

”Get lost,” Lin Yun snapped. He was finally beginning to understand these two. Their minds were filled with nothing but money and women. And what left Lin Yun most speechless was their greatest ambition in the Yanhuang Country: to sleep with every single one of the current Emperor’s concubines.

If the Emperor of Yanhuang Country ever found out about this, he would probably tear the earth apart to find them and have them diced into a thousand pieces. This went far beyond simply making him a cuckold.

’Sleeping with all of his concubines... Just thinking about it, what a sordid and ridiculous ambition.’

”You two, since you’re with me now, you need to play to your strengths. Go on. I’ve seen plenty of rich kids on the road, and I’m very short on Primordial Stones right now. Use your talents and earn me some,” Lin Yun said.

Hearing this, the Monk and Daoist instantly understood. He wanted them to go back to their old trade.

”Young Master Lin, don’t you worry! This sort of thing is a piece of cake for me,” the Monk said, seizing the opportunity to state his terms. ”It’s just... I don’t have any Elemental Power right now. If we run into someone tough, I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle them...”

Lin Yun had already thought of this. ”Don’t worry. Little Ape will stay with you. If you run into a situation that calls for brute force, Little Ape will handle it.”

Lin Yun’s arrangement was flawless. With Little Ape there, the Monk and Daoist truly wouldn’t need to lift a finger. A flash of disappointment crossed their faces, but they quickly concealed it.

Thumping their chests, the two of them charged ahead to find their prey.

Watching their backs, Lin Yun wasn’t worried they would try to escape. Powerless and under the close watch of Little Ape, they didn’t have a sliver of hope.

With the Monk and Daoist on the job, what happened next was simple and straightforward. On the main road to Yunlu County City, two utterly shameless holy men appeared.

Perhaps because they were taking out their frustrations from being subdued by Lin Yun, the Monk and Daoist were particularly brutal. They weren’t just scamming people anymore; it had escalated to blatant robbery.

Whenever they saw a well-dressed young master, or even a young lady, the Monk and Daoist would go right up and demand Primordial Stones. If the person refused, the duo would sic Little Ape on them for a savage beating, after which they would take the victim’s Space Ring and all their valuables.

Men and women, young and old—anyone targeted by the Monk and Daoist was guaranteed to be cleaned out. There were no exceptions.

In just two short days, Lin Yun’s group had arrived less than thirty miles from Yunlu County City. Meanwhile, a rumor was spreading like wildfire along the main road.

A fat Monk, a thin Daoist, and a palm-sized little ape—these three had formed the most brazen, most shameless, and most unscrupulous trio of bandits ever seen.

Anyone targeted by the trio could not escape their clutches. What left people even more speechless was that the palm-sized little ape possessed heaven-defying Combat Power.

Even a Ninth Layer of Qi Sea Realm Martial Artist was no match for it. Some speculated that unless a Primordial Ocean Realm expert intervened, no one could defeat that little ape.

Their reputation was thoroughly established, but their haul from the past two days was equally astonishing.

Upon arriving in Yunlu County City, Lin Yun first found an inn. The group then began to take stock of their earnings from the road.

”We’re rich! We’re rich...!” Gazing at the table, upon which lay more than twenty Space Rings, the Monk and Daoist completely forgot their circumstances. Their eyes gleamed, as if the entire world had shrunk down to the rings before them.

Breaking the Restrictions on the Space Rings one by one, Lin Yun was left dumbfounded after he finished counting. ’Is making money really this easy?’

In just two short days, they had amassed a total of 500,000 Low Grade Primordial Stones, ten Earth Spirit Soldiers, several thousand One-Star Qi Essence Pills, and a hundred Healing Elixirs.

”This is for you,” Lin Yun said after counting, handing two Space Rings to the Monk and Daoist.

Each Space Ring contained 50,000 Low Grade Primordial Stones and over a thousand One-Star Qi Essence Pills. Lin Yun had no use for the One-Star Qi Essence Pills, so he figured he might as well give them all to the Monk and Daoist.

The Monk and Daoist never expected Lin Yun to actually share the spoils with them. Their faces first registered shock, which then melted into shameless, satisfied grins as they accepted the two Space Rings from him.

”Young Master Lin, I knew it! I knew following you was the right choice!”

”Don’t you worry, Young Master Lin! With just one word from you, I, this Daoist, wouldn’t be afraid to rob the entire Yunlu County City!”

After accepting the Space Rings, the two once again showered Lin Yun with praise, but by now, he was completely immune to it.
