Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Imprisoned Dragon’s Background

With the help of the Blood Man from the Demon Emperor Technique, Lin Yun’s practice of the Wind Thunder Triple Flash was like adding wings to a tiger. For the next few days, he focused all his energy on cultivating this skill.

Every day, Lin Yun improved by leaps and bounds. By the seventh day, he had already comprehended the True Intent of the first flash of the Wind Thunder Triple Flash.

”Whew... As expected of a Profound Level, Upper Tier spear skill. It’s truly formidable. But I have the Demon Emperor Technique to thank for my progress these past few days. Otherwise, I never would have been able to comprehend the True Intent of the first flash,” Lin Yun murmured, letting out a soft breath.

Just as he finished speaking, Imprisoned Dragon walked into the courtyard. The competition was tomorrow, and Imprisoned Dragon was extremely worried. As soon as he entered, he pulled Lin Yun down onto a stone stool and spoke, his voice filled with concern.

”Lin Yun, you can’t go tomorrow. You’re no match for someone in the Qi Sea Realm.”

Lin Yun gave a small smile at Imprisoned Dragon’s words. He could tell Imprisoned Dragon’s concern for him was genuine. However, there was one thing that puzzled him.

’We’ve barely crossed paths, yet he gave me the Disguise Technique and is always looking out for me.’ Lin Yun couldn’t understand why.

Instead of answering, Lin Yun asked a question of his own. ”Imprisoned Dragon, answer a question for me.”

”Go ahead,” Imprisoned Dragon replied.

”Why are you helping me so much?” Lin Yun voiced the question that had been on his mind.

”You really don’t know who I am anymore?” Hearing Lin Yun’s question, Imprisoned Dragon paused for a long moment before saying something that made no sense to Lin Yun.

Lin Yun shook his head, indicating that he truly didn’t know. At this, Imprisoned Dragon looked at him, a flicker of sorrow in his eyes. He seemed to be recalling some painful memories.

In a somewhat hoarse voice, Imprisoned Dragon began to speak slowly.

”I’m from Iron Gate Pass. When I was eight, my father was condemned by the Royal Family, and my entire family was executed. I was the only one who escaped. I eventually made my way to Mysterious City alone, where I met Ye Yunlong. He took me in, let me join the Death Row Shelter, and taught me the Assassination Technique...”

As Lin Yun listened to Imprisoned Dragon’s tale, a vague figure began to form in his mind. The image was blurry, but it stirred a faint memory.

It was a young boy. Lin Yun had played and trained with him since they were little; they had been very close. Of course, this was largely due to their fathers’ relationship. The boy’s father had been one of Lin Xiaotian’s Eight Great Vice Generals.

But when Lin Yun was eight, the boy’s father was condemned by the Royal Family and his entire household was sentenced to death. Even though Lin Xiaotian personally went to the Capital City, he couldn’t spare them.

In the end, the family was killed. However, when Lin Xiaotian returned from the Capital City, the little boy had vanished. Only his parents’ corpses were recovered; the boy’s body was never found.

This had all happened over a decade ago, and Lin Yun had almost forgotten about it. But now, as Imprisoned Dragon spoke, the figure in Lin Yun’s memory slowly began to merge with him.

”You’re... Wang Long...” The memory finally clicked into place. Lin Yun pointed a trembling finger at Imprisoned Dragon.

At this, Imprisoned Dragon’s usually deadpan face broke into a smile. He gave a slight nod, confirming Lin Yun’s realization. Yes, he was indeed Wang Long, the boy who had escaped from Iron Gate Pass.

Now that his identity was revealed, Imprisoned Dragon continued, ”Back then, General Lin went to the Capital City to plead on my family’s behalf. But who would have known that the Royal Family would take advantage of his absence? They attacked my home that very night. More than a hundred souls, including guards and maids—not a single one was spared.”

”My mother hid me in a well, which is the only reason I survived. But when I climbed out and saw the ground littered with bodies, the only thing on my mind was revenge. I swore I would make the Royal Family pay.”

”After that, I fled Iron Gate Pass alone. I knew I couldn’t stay there. I had to run, get stronger, and wait for the day I could return to avenge my parents.”

”So, I just ran for my life. I don’t know for how long. Eventually, I arrived in Mysterious City in a daze. You know what happened after that.”

Imprisoned Dragon recounted his journey. When he spoke of the Royal Family, fury burned in his eyes and his voice turned ice-cold, revealing the depths of his hatred for the Yanhuang Royal Family.

”Imprisoned Dragon...” Faced with what Imprisoned Dragon had been through, Lin Yun didn’t know what to say. His own parents were alive and well, but Imprisoned Dragon’s entire family had long since been slaughtered by the Royal Family.

”Now you know who I am. All I ask is that you promise me you won’t fight tomorrow,” Imprisoned Dragon said, looking at Lin Yun with a small smile.

It seemed Imprisoned Dragon’s smiles were reserved for Lin Yun alone. In front of anyone else, he always wore that same deadpan expression.

Imprisoned Dragon didn’t press the issue. Lin Yun was overjoyed to see Wang Long again. ’It might be more appropriate to call him Imprisoned Dragon now, but that doesn’t matter to me. The important thing is that he’s still alive.’

”Come on. Let me show you something, and you’ll see that I won’t lose tomorrow.” Lin Yun stood up and motioned for Imprisoned Dragon to come to the center of the courtyard.

Imprisoned Dragon did as he was asked and came to the center of the courtyard, where the two stood facing each other. ”Draw your weapon. If you can take this one attack from me, I promise I won’t fight tomorrow,” Lin Yun said to him.

Hearing this, Imprisoned Dragon didn’t know what Lin Yun was planning, but not being one for words, he simply drew his short blade and assumed a defensive stance, focusing all his attention.

With his spear in hand, Lin Yun’s aura began to surge. His Elemental Power still fluctuated at the level of the Fourth Layer of Opening Realm, but at this moment, he was like a drawn sword, exuding an intense sharpness.

”Wind Thunder Triple Flash—First Flash!” With a low shout, Lin Yun’s spear thrust out. In an instant, it moved like lightning. With just a flicker of light, the tip of the spear was already pressed against Imprisoned Dragon’s throat.

Imprisoned Dragon stared at Lin Yun, his eyes wide with disbelief. He knew perfectly well that Ye Yunlong had given Lin Yun the Wind Thunder Triple Flash only a week ago. This meant that in just one week, Lin Yun had not only learned the first flash but had also comprehended its True Intent.

”Comprehending the True Intent in just one week...” Imprisoned Dragon muttered, dumbfounded. ’At this speed... I’m afraid not even the Five Great Demon Fiends of the Eastern Domain could do that, right?’

The Five Great Demon Fiends were the strongest of the entire Eastern Domain’s younger generation. Even many Martial Artists from the older generation were no match for them. They were idols to all Martial Artists, representing power, talent, and a status far beyond the reach of ordinary people.

But in Imprisoned Dragon’s eyes, the Lin Yun before him, aside from his currently lacking strength, was in no way inferior to the Five Great Demon Fiends in any other aspect.

After all, not even the Five Great Demon Fiends would dare claim they could comprehend the True Intent of a Profound Level, Upper Tier martial skill in a single week—even if it was just one move.

Retracting his Overlord Spear, Lin Yun looked at Imprisoned Dragon and smiled. ”So? You’re not going to stop me now, are you?”

Hearing this, Imprisoned Dragon steadied his breathing, said a single word, and turned to leave the courtyard.

”Freak.”
