Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 998: Chapter 474: Scientific Shadows in Mythology (Second Update)_3

”What’s the truth then?” Lawrence Winters dutifully served as the audience.

The old Daoist became excited and said, ”Let’s put it this way, the great flood in Oriental mythology is a battle between various monsters and deities, which leads to Gong Gong knocking down the Buzhou Mountain, resulting in the great flood. These monsters are interesting because supposedly they are hybrid species born from gods and humans. Just think, ’A dragon gives birth to nine sons, all different,’ and then wonder why, in the twelve zodiac animals, only the dragon is a mythical creature and the others are real animals. Aren’t there many questions in your head, young one?”

Lawrence Winters: ”???”

I do have quite a few questions, but Master-Grandfather, I found you were rambling and diverting my attention!

Lawrence Winters came to his senses and finally understood what the old Daoist was doing.

He was avoiding her question about the Flood Dragon Tendon Whip!

Lawrence Winters glanced at the time on the iPad and couldn’t help but say, ”Master-Grandfather, I have a dinner appointment later, could you please first tell me about that Flood Dragon Tendon Whip?”

”I am talking about it! Let me finish!” The old Daoist wiped his forehead with a laugh, thinking this young disciple is really not easy to fool. Even at this point, she managed to pull the topic back.

However, the old Daoist was also a very easy-going person, seeing that Lawrence Winters was adamant about the Flood Dragon Tendon Whip, he no longer hid the truth.

He continued, ”To make a long story short, the great flood in ancient Oriental legends, at its core, resulted from the gods and humans producing many species stronger than humans. Of course, these species weren’t as powerful as the gods themselves, but they were more than enough on Earth. They wreaked havoc, causing chaos on Earth. Humanity’s living space was being squeezed, and even the gods couldn’t stand it anymore, so they pre-warned humans, instructing them to avoid the disaster, while using a great flood to wipe out these monsters.”

”These monsters did resist, such as Gong Gong, who has a human face, a snake’s body, red hair. From the perspective of our Celestial Path Sect, it’s actually a flood dragon that has attained spirituality.”

”It wasn’t afraid of water, so during the great flood, it led those monsters in a fierce battle against humans at one point. But with the gods’ help, humanity still had the upper hand.”

”In the end, the human leader Carl captured Gong Gong, said to be exiled in Youzhou, but in reality, it was put under house arrest. The flood dragon tendon in your whip was personally extracted from Gong Gong by Carl.”

”To imprison a flood dragon that has attained spirituality, the key of course is to extract its tendons, so it loses its divine power.” ℴ

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

Thinking of the soft whip in her backpack, Lawrence Winters suddenly felt a bit troubled.

Is there really a flood dragon tendon from Gong Gong inside?!

Does this count as cruelly harming a nation’s rare and specially protected creature?

Could this be illegal?

Lawrence Winters had a head full of questions.

The old Daoist continued incessantly, ”And then look at the origin of the great flood in Western mythology, why did it happen? It was because there was also a group of hybrid creatures rampant on Earth, causing chaos! Even God couldn’t stand the havoc his created monsters were wreaking, so he pre-warned humans and then caused a great flood to wash away all those hybrid creatures!”

”See, aren’t the origins of the great flood myths in both the East and West the same?”

”They both have these hybrid creatures doing evil, making the Creator unable to control them, therefore needing to destroy them!”

”That’s the theological perspective.”

”But from a scientific perspective, it means that there are more intelligent creatures or civilizations, creating these hybrid monsters by mixing human and animal genes, but being unable to manage them, so they exterminated them all!”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

It was really opening the door to a new world!

She listened fascinated, ”But why would these more intelligent creatures or civilizations use a flood to kill these monsters? Wasn’t there any other means? If they could accomplish such formidable gene engineering, don’t tell me they didn’t have more extraordinary means to kill without trace.”

”Our family’s Lawrence is quite smart.” The old Daoist nodded with a smile, ”Yes, they certainly have more powerful means. But precisely because their methods are formidable, yet not to the extent of reshaping heaven and earth, leading to environmental imbalance. In the end, nature unleashed its power with a great flood that wiped out these more intelligent creatures entirely, especially their civilization, their culture.”

”When natural disasters occur, the cultures with higher levels of civilization are more fragile and are easily wiped out completely.”

”On the contrary, the species still in an ignorance period, living by instinct, like the humans who just started enlightenment and various animals, could survive.”

Lawrence Winters exclaimed ”Oh!” and summarized, ”So the great floods of both East and West are ’divine’ means to destroy a more intelligent civilization, and those hybrid monsters were crafted by them. And these hybrid creatures weren’t fully exterminated by those more intelligent species nor by the great flood, right?”

”Of course not. Some residual escaped, otherwise how would various mythological stories and legends arise later?” The old Daoist said dismissively, ”For instance, your Flood Dragon Tendon Whip is a genuine magic artifact and divine object. But the ability to emit Holy Light has to do with you. Only in your hands can it emit the Holy Light.”
