Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 972: Chapter 466: They Probably Love Her

The four of them staggered out of Alice Blythe’s bedroom like they were drunk and went back to their assigned rooms to sleep.

Mr. Zhuge from the Peony Team, Daoist Quan, and Daoist Wang left after them.

Their mood was clearly not as high as the four people in the Peony Team, but they weren’t exactly discouraged either.

Daoist Wang and Daoist Quan believed in Lawrence Winters and Mr. Zhuge’s skills.

Mr. Zhuge, on the other hand, was calm and composed. He trusted himself, and he felt this matter might not be over yet.

Once the host left, the drone flew off after him.

Tonight’s livestream ended there as well.

After everyone else had gone, Lawrence Winters hesitated for a moment, then slowly walked toward the door.

Mrs. Blythe noticed her then and quickly called out, ”Great Heavenly Master Winters, please wait!”

Lawrence stopped and said with a smile, ”Mrs. Blythe, is there something you need?”

Mrs. Blythe walked over, pulled her to Alice Blythe’s bedside, and said to Alice joyfully, ”Alice, this is Great Heavenly Master Winters. Your life was saved by her!”

Lawrence Winters: ”!!!”

She really didn’t dare take all the credit by herself...

She hurriedly waved her hands and said, ”Mrs. Blythe, it wasn’t just me, it was all eight of us. We all contributed. The amount of effort might be different, but it definitely wasn’t my achievement alone.”

Mrs. Blythe looked at her with smiling eyes and said, ”Great Heavenly Master Winters, you’re too modest. I knew you’d be this modest, that’s why I called you back in.”

She turned to look at Alice, stroked her face, and said, ”Alice, take a good look at Great Heavenly Master Winters and remember her. Remember that it’s because of her that you’re still alive. In the future, if you get the chance, you must properly thank her!”

Lawrence was so embarrassed her toes were practically curling.

Alice Blythe slowly opened her eyes to a slit, squinting at the young woman by the bed who looked tall and beautiful but was dressed casually.

Earlier she’d heard her parents mention a ”Great Heavenly Master” and thought it would be some old man. Then when she heard the voice, she realized it was a young woman.

Now seeing her face, Alice let out a soft breath and slowly said, ”...You’re so pretty...”

Then she glanced at her own mom, who was looking at Lawrence with open appreciation and admiration, and Alice’s gaze dimmed.

She closed her eyes and said faintly, ”I’m tired. I want to sleep for a while. You all go out.”

Her expression suddenly turned indifferent. Mr. and Mrs. Blythe looked at each other, neither of them understanding how they had managed to upset their precious daughter again.

Lawrence read the room and had a thought.

She smiled and said, ”Ms. Blythe did just wake up. You should let her rest first. Oh, and shouldn’t you call the doctor and tell them she’s awake?”

”It’s too late now, better to call tomorrow morning.” Mr. Blythe checked his watch and walked out together with Lawrence and Mrs. Blythe.

Mrs. Blythe was the last to leave. As she was about to close the door, she glanced back into the room and saw Alice secretly open her eyes again, looking at her with deep reluctance.

When Alice realized Mrs. Blythe was looking right at her, she hurriedly shut her eyes again, as if she didn’t want her mother to know what she was really feeling.

Mrs. Blythe’s heart gave a little jolt; in that instant she understood Alice’s feelings. Her heart turned sour and bitter, with a sweetness threaded through the ache.

It was as if the barrier between mother and daughter suddenly crumbled to dust.

She understood her daughter’s longing for her parents’ love, and she understood that Alice’s deliberate distance was just a way to protect herself from being hurt.

Mrs. Blythe walked back again, took Alice’s hand, and said gently, ”Alice, you’re our only daughter, the daughter we love most. No one else in our hearts can compare to you. Don’t worry that we’ll start liking some other child instead of you.”

For example, Lawrence Winters just now—she was about the same age as Alice, so Alice must have misunderstood.

Alice shifted uncomfortably and murmured, ”...She’s young and pretty, and she’s got skills too, right? If you like her more, I can understand...”

”Alice, what nonsense are you talking? How could we possibly like Great Heavenly Master Winters more? Sure, she’s capable, but she has her own parents, she has nothing to do with us... We hired her specifically to... treat your illness. Your illness is cured now, and you’re going to live a long, long life from here on out.”

Mrs. Blythe held Alice’s hand, tears falling one by one onto the back of Alice’s hand.

Alice felt the coolness on the back of her hand and snapped her eyes open, seeing her mother’s tear-reddened eyes.

The dam in her heart was instantly washed away by Mrs. Blythe’s tears. She hurriedly said, ”Mom, don’t cry. I just... just felt a tiny bit upset, that’s all... I’m fine now... I know... you love me...”

She didn’t dare say ”love me the most,” but giving up that huge business contract and rushing back to see her... that had to mean they loved her, right?
