Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 973: Chapter 467: Where Did This Nobody Come From, Trying to Steal the Show (Second Update)

Mrs. Blythe watched Alice Blythe with tears streaming down her face, as if she had a lot to say, but couldn’t utter a single word.

Lawrence Winters and Mr. Blythe also paused, looking at Mrs. Blythe speaking to Alice Blythe.

She watched them expressing their emotions in such a refined manner and felt a bit anxious for them.

Just saved from the brink of life and death, and yet they’re still at the stage of ”gazing at each other with tearful eyes, unable to speak”...

Can’t they just say what they want to say directly?

If not, wouldn’t it be satisfying to give a good scolding?

Lawrence Winters thought to himself that if he had been fussing about ”do my parents love me” before he turned eighteen, his mom, Gabrielle Winters, would probably have put him in his place quite firmly.

Of course, every family situation is different.

Lawrence Winters just vented internally.

She knew she had a particularly capacious heart, incomparable to the other girls who had delicate thoughts.

Furthermore, there’s the saying ”One man’s meat is another man’s poison”; perhaps the Blythe family’s parent-child relationships are just like this.

Mrs. Blythe held Alice Blythe’s hand and murmured, ”Alice, you are the child your mom and dad love the most. Don’t do anything silly in the future, okay?”

Alice Blythe blinked in some confusion, ”Mom, what are you saying? What silly thing did I do?”

Mrs. Blythe: ”...”

She glanced back at Mr. Blythe at the door, then retracted her gaze and sighed, saying, ”Alice, didn’t you... feel desperate? You’ve been in a coma for a week...”

Alice Blythe let out an ”uh,” frowned as she thought for a while, and said, ”I was in a coma for a week? I felt like I just had a nap? I still remember being a bit unhappy before I fell asleep...”

She looked at Mrs. Blythe timidly, ”I thought mom and dad loved other people’s children the most, but... it was never to the point of despair?”

She knew what ”desperate” meant, which was suicide.

But why would she feel desperate enough to commit suicide?

She was well-off, and although she previously thought her parents didn’t appreciate her, it wasn’t reason enough to throw her life away over this.

She wasn’t even eighteen yet, with many things she hadn’t done, many dreams unfulfilled.

She thought this and also told her parents the same thing.

Mrs. Blythe seemed quite surprised, ”...You weren’t desperate? Then you...”

She wanted to mention the thing about the earrings or earphones, but Lawrence Winters picked up on it, subtly interrupting her, saying, ”Mrs. Blythe, I see Miss Blythe just woke up and seems quite weak. Why not let her rest first and talk to her tomorrow?”

He gave Mrs. Blythe a slight nod.

Mrs. Blythe appeared to understand Lawrence Winters’ body language well and agreed immediately, ”Alright, Alice, you rest first. Mom and Dad will come back to talk to you tomorrow. What would you like to eat? Mom will buy it for you tomorrow.”

”I want to eat... creamy corn and rib soup, and crab meatballs, um... I also want pizza!”

There’s no foreign kid who doesn’t love pizza.

But to think of so many delicious things all at once probably means she’s not dwelling on any dark thoughts.

Mrs. Blythe’s smile on her face grew lighter and more cheerful.

The three of them left Alice Blythe’s bedroom and returned to Mr. and Mrs. Blythe’s master bedroom.

The room here was more spacious, but the decoration was very simple, with only a bed covered in beige bed linens.

Two rosewood bedside tables, and two beige single sofas placed beneath the window.

There were also two doors, one leading to the en-suite bathroom, and the other to the walk-in closet.

Lawrence Winters gently closed the master bedroom door and concisely said, ”Based on what Miss Blythe just said, I think her deep sleep doesn’t seem to be intentional on her part.”

She spoke tactfully, implying that if it wasn’t intentional, then someone else must have been involved.

Mr. Blythe furrowed his brows tightly and after a moment, said, ”We also thought that our neglect made her not want to... want to live... but now it seems, maybe not?”

Lawrence Winters put his hands in his pockets and went through the facts he’d gathered in his mind, candidly saying, ”I initially thought this was a case of ’assisted suicide.’ You asked us to save her because this involved Geomantic Formation and Nightmare Town, both problems modern medicine can’t solve.”

”But if Miss Blythe herself had no intention of harming herself... yet such life-threatening Geomantic Formation and Nightmare Town appear around her, you ought to be careful.” Lawrence Winters lowered her eyes, and as expected, she saw the dark golden dust quietly falling at their feet.

She blinked, soon it disappeared again.

Old friend indeed...

Lawrence Winters tugged at the corner of her mouth.
