Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 962: Chapter 463: Stuffed from the Founder’s Meal (Second Update)

From the doorway came the muffled sobbing of the Blythe couple.

After a while, the sobbing slowly faded into the distance; they must have left.

Lawrence Winters sat in the room thinking for a while longer.

The suggestive audio in the headphones, the many-petaled lotus hidden under the quilt—was it just that?

Could something like that really make a perfectly healthy girl fall into a sleep she never wakes from?

She stared at Alice Blythe, who lay there with her eyes closed, pondering in silence.

Not long after, she suddenly heard a shout from the next room: ”Ha! Look what I found!”

It was the voice of the Daoist Wang.

Lawrence rushed over, yanked open the door, stuck her head out, and asked, ”Daoist Wang? Did you find the key object?”

Daoist Wang ran out of the room next to Alice’s, holding up a porcelain figure about half a foot tall, and said, ”Take a look at this thing!”

Lawrence lifted her gaze to it.

It was a kneeling doll, a little girl of seven or eight, with an ancient double-coil bun hairstyle, wearing a short green cross-collared jacket with right lapel and wide pants of the same color, both embroidered with large white magnolia blossoms.

The kneeling doll’s hands were extended forward, supporting a porcelain tray. On the tray lay neatly folded white towels, a small sandalwood soap, a toothbrush, a comb, and other disposable toiletries.

Like a servant maid from ancient times.

Lawrence was genuinely surprised. ”You found this in the bathroom?”

”Yeah, in the bathroom of the room next door.” Daoist Wang said smugly, ”The moment I walked in I felt there was something off about it! Who uses something like this as bathroom decor for no reason?!”

Lawrence took a careful look at it. ”So only the bathroom in the room next door has one of these?”

”Mm. I’ve checked the rooms above, below, and on both sides. This house has a total of six bathrooms. This floor alone has four.”

”Alice Blythe’s bedroom’s en-suite, the master bedroom, the guest room next door, and a public bathroom off the hallway.”

Daoist Wang jerked his chin toward the other end of the corridor.

It was the restroom Lawrence had gone to earlier.

It was there that she had unfolded the crumpled paper Mrs. Blythe had given her and seen the words ”He who does much evil will bring ruin upon himself.”

The decor in that restroom was completely normal; there was no creepy kneeling doll in sight.

Lawrence let her gaze rest on the kneeling doll for a while, then nodded and said, ”This counts as us scoring first, doesn’t it?”

Daoist Wang: ”...”

He held the kneeling doll in one hand, slapped his thigh with the other, and burst out laughing. ”Right! We’re still in the middle of a competition!”

Lawrence: ”...”

The discovery of this kneeling doll sparked a wave of excitement—not just among the contestants, but also among the viewers and judges.

”Holy crap! Is this the first time I’ve actually seen so-called ’witchcraft gu’?!”

”I think it’s ’curse magic’...”

”Aaaahhhh! I tuned in to watch Celestial Path Sect duels! What the hell is this kneeling doll?!”

On the livestream, the director deliberately gave the kneeling doll a crystal-clear front close-up.

Round face with delicate features, slightly upturned little nose, mouth faintly tilted to the side, giving her a somewhat spoiled look.

In the Stetford Family’s grand screening hall, Spring Spencer looked at the high-def front close-up of the kneeling doll, then glanced at Ruby Sheldon sitting diagonally in front of him, and raised his brows in surprise.

The doll’s face and expression really did look a bit like Ruby Sheldon...

Ruby herself didn’t notice; she only felt that the kneeling doll looked familiar. Unable to resist, she nudged her mother’s arm and said, ”This doll is so cute, Mommy, I want one too.”

Autumn Stetford was startled when she suddenly saw the kneeling doll.

But by the time Ruby nudged her, she had already composed herself. Smiling, she said, ”What’s so fun about this old-fashioned doll? Don’t you already have tons of limited-edition Barbies?”

Back at their suite in the Wells Residence Garden, Ruby had another room filled entirely with Barbies displayed in glass cases.

”But I don’t have this kind of doll.” Ruby’s expression turned innocent and bright. ”Shouldn’t I start collecting this kind of Barbie with an Eastern flair?”

All the Barbie dolls she collected herself were in a Western vintage style; she didn’t have any in an Eastern vintage style like this.

”...Mm, we can look around later. Maybe we can find some craftsmen to custom-make a batch.” Autumn Stetford said with a smile. ”The workmanship on this one is too rough; it’s not pretty.”

”Mommy’s right. If I’m collecting, I should only collect the best.” Ruby nodded emphatically.

...

Meanwhile, far away in Alice Blythe’s home, the eight contestants in the Celestial Path Sect World Cup Grand Laureate match had gathered together again.

The Peony Group was in charge of the exorcism.

They took up positions at the four cardinal directions around the kneeling doll that had been placed on a high side table, surrounding it, and each used their own Magic Artifact to test the doll.
