Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 527: Chapter 285: Suffering a Setback (First Update)

”Blood disaster?!” Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller exclaimed simultaneously.

Gabrielle even stood up from her seat, rushed to Lawrence Winters’ side, and asked worriedly, ”Lawrence, besides your arm, is there anywhere else you’re hurt?”

She carefully looked at Lawrence’s face.

It was still as fair and delicate as ever, just a bit of darkness under the eyes, looking like he hadn’t slept well.

Gabrielle’s heart settled back down, and she immediately sharpened up, ”When did you get hurt? You were perfectly fine when you came home last night. You didn’t go out early this morning either, so when exactly did this happen?”

Nick also walked over, frowning, ”I remember when I went to bed, you said goodnight to me. Your arm was fine then. What’s going on? Don’t tell me you went out in the middle of the night and got into trouble again...”

Lawrence tried hard to squeeze out a smile, ”Mom, Uncle, listen to me slowly. I don’t think I did anything wrong or caused trouble. On the contrary, I went to eliminate harm for the people!”

As she walked to her seat, she exaggeratedly said, ”Oh! I’m starving! Is today’s breakfast fish porridge or is it the great-grandfather’s doing?”

Seeing that it was large meat buns, she immediately said happily, ”It’s the great-grandfather’s large meat buns! Great! I can eat three!”

”Eat three and won’t that stuff you?” Gabrielle wasn’t happy about Lawrence changing the topic, ”Speak up, what exactly happened? You can’t eat the buns until you tell us!”

The hand Lawrence reached out was blocked by Gabrielle. With her other arm wrapped tightly, she couldn’t reach the delicious buns that made her drool.

Lawrence, starving and anxious, said, ”Mom! Can’t I talk after breakfast?”

”No.” Gabrielle became stern, ”A girl running out in the middle of the night and getting her arm broken, do you still want to eat? Do you think I can’t control you now that you’re grown up?”

Gabrielle raised her voice, becoming completely stern.

This was the side of Gabrielle that Lawrence feared the most.

She shrank a little, her whole body shivering, and said in a low voice, ”...I was helping a friend, accidentally...”

”Speak clearly! Don’t beat around the bush!” Nick was also angry, ”Since childhood, I found famous teachers to teach you martial arts, not to let you show off and fight! — Tell us, what exactly happened? How did you break your arm?”

As Nick spoke, he wanted to check if Lawrence’s arm was fractured, so he gently pressed it.

It happened to press on Lawrence’s wound, and she couldn’t help but scream miserably, the blood drained from her face, and cold sweat broke out on her forehead.

This definitely wasn’t faked.

Nick’s expression also became serious, ”Let me see your injury.”

”No... The doctor said it’s fixed, it can’t be removed, or it’ll leave a scar...” Lawrence shook her head vigorously, tears of pain welling up.

Kenneth Osborne thought of the way Lawrence looked yesterday in the middle of the night at the hospital, and his heart raced.

No, he couldn’t be soft-hearted, Lawrence had to remember this lesson; otherwise, she’d rely on her skills to act recklessly, who knows what trouble she’d get into.

Moreover, what if those people had guns instead of knives yesterday?!

No matter how high the skills, they’re no match for a bullet.

So Lawrence had to learn a lesson.

Kenneth spoke plainly at this moment, ”Aunt Gabrielle, Uncle Nick, it’s better not to take it off. Her wound is a knife wound, deep to the bone, but the knife was quick, and the wound is neat. The doctor didn’t suture it to avoid scarring, but used a gel patch, so keeping it fixed is very important.”

”What?!” Gabrielle and Nick exclaimed again.

Gabrielle’s body swayed, her vision began to blur.

Her heart rate also increased, her blood sugar depleting rapidly, soon turning her face as white as paper, and even her breathing became rapid.

Lawrence and Nick both noticed Gabrielle’s abnormal state.

Lawrence quickly said, ”Mom’s low blood sugar is acting up, quick, give her some sugar!”

Nick had already taken three steps at a time to his room to get the oral glucose he had prepared for Gabrielle, and rushed back to feed it to her.

During a hypoglycemic episode, oral glucose is the first choice because it’s a monosaccharide, doesn’t require further decomposition, and absorbs quickly.

Gabrielle indeed recuperated shortly after, looking at Lawrence, her eyes reddened, ”Lawrence, are you trying to kill your mother?!”

Lawrence was terrified; she didn’t expect her mother’s reaction to be so intense.

Her knees went weak, and she knelt in front of Gabrielle, looking up and chokingly saying, ”Mom, I’m wrong, I won’t dare again, please don’t scare me.”
