Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 508: Chapter 274: The Language of Lilies (First Update)

She smiled and reached out her hand, taking the lilies from Lucas Harlow, and said, ”Lucas, you’re allergic to pollen. Let little Edward hold them for you.”

Lucas Harlow thought, since when have I been allergic to pollen?

But since Lawrence Winters said it, even if he’s not allergic, he has to become allergic immediately.

He quickly covered his nose with his hand, passed the large bouquet of lilies in his arm to Edward Foster beside him, and said to Lawrence Winters, ”Thanks for the reminder.”

Autumn Stetford and Ruby Sheldon, along with Aiden Sheldon, were all stunned for a moment.

They’ve known Lucas Harlow for so many years, and they’ve never heard that he’s allergic to pollen?

Ruby Sheldon frowned and looked at Lucas Harlow, saying, ”Uncle, why didn’t you mention your pollen allergy earlier? If I had known, I wouldn’t have prepared lilies...”

Then she turned to Lawrence Winters, ”Sister Lawrence, is my uncle really allergic to pollen?”

Lawrence Winters originally didn’t want to speak to her, but since she asked, if she didn’t respond, those two glaring men and women beside her would charge her with ”disrespect”...

Lawrence Winters had to respond very politely and distantly, ”In response to Miss Shel’s question, Lucas wasn’t allergic before, but after staying in Capital City for a while, he gradually became allergic. Pollen allergy can be triggered by different environments.”

Lucas Harlow quickly sneezed and said, ”...Lawrence is my agent; she is very attentive to my health. Achoo! ... Actually, it’s not so bad... Achoo! Achoo!”

This is where their acting prowess came through.

Lucas Harlow’s ”sneeze” was lifelike and flawless.

Even Autumn Stetford suspected Lucas Harlow really had a pollen allergy.

The air in Capital City had always been bad, and Autumn Stetford knew that Lucas Harlow’s mother was also allergic to pollen and had to escape to places without flowers every spring when she was young.

So it’s quite possible Lucas Harlow inherited part of this trait from his mother.

Only Aiden Sheldon sneered and curled his lips, but seeing Lawrence Winters’ respectful attitude, he said nothing.

Gabriel Foster, however, knew Lucas Harlow definitely didn’t develop a pollen allergy in Capital City, and Edward Foster was completely puzzled.

He leaned closer to the bouquet of lilies, smelled them, and curiously said, ”These flowers don’t even have a scent?”

Lawrence Winters was not as polite with him, lifting her eyelids to give him a sideways glance, saying: ”Does whether flowers have a scent have anything to do with whether they have pollen? Just because they don’t have a scent means they don’t have pollen?”

”Of course not, scentless flowers can also have pollen.” Edward Foster nodded vigorously while holding the bouquet.

”Exactly, so even flowers without a scent can cause pollen allergies because pollen still exists.” Lawrence Winters gave him a look.

Edward Foster understood, smiled, and waved the bouquet of lilies, saying, ”Fortunately, I’m not allergic to pollen. This bouquet of lilies is so beautiful; it’s good enough to be a wedding bouquet.”

Lilies, especially white lilies, are elegant and pure, beautiful yet not ostentatious, perfectly matching a white wedding gown, and symbolize a ”happy union for a hundred years.” Therefore, they are a bride’s favorite bouquet in Western weddings.

At this moment, Lawrence Winters was extremely tense, chatting with Edward Foster while constantly observing the surroundings with her peripheral vision.

The few people who were hiding behind the cinema pillars had vanished without a trace.

They must have merged into the crowd.

Lawrence Winters saw the Sheldon Family bodyguards surrounding the Sheldon trio, the Foster Family also had bodyguards, while Lucas Harlow’s staff had been shoved aside, with that assistant Jason nowhere to be seen.

The situation seemed bleak.

She was quickly calculating the potential for things to worsen in her mind as she casually responded to Edward Foster, ”...Yeah, giving a star lilies in this setting is really inappropriate. Of course, the star accepting the flowers isn’t thinking straight. — It’s not like they’re going to an altar for a marriage oath with a priest, making a fool of themselves for nothing.”

”...Sister Lawrence, I didn’t... I didn’t mean it like that... Uncle... I really didn’t... I just like lilies, and Uncle’s favorite flower is also lilies... I didn’t think of anything else...” Ruby Sheldon suddenly burst into tears.

Her tears fell in big drops, trying hard to suppress her sobs, her shoulders twitching with emotion, causing her entire body to convulse terribly.

Autumn Stetford was utterly anxious, quickly hugging Ruby Sheldon in her arms, repeatedly comforting her, ”Betty, don’t cry! It’s okay, no one’s saying you’re wrong! They’re just joking!”

Ruby Sheldon’s sobbing gradually turned into wailing, ”...Mom, believe me! I didn’t! I didn’t have that indecent thought!”

She wept bitterly, stomping her foot occasionally, looking up at Autumn with sparkling tears on her delicate face like a flower in the rain, so pitiful.

Aiden Sheldon watched Ruby Sheldon’s tantrum, his face suddenly darkened.

Lawrence Winters and Edward Foster both realized the danger simultaneously.

The two exchanged a quick glance and suddenly found themselves in sync.

Edward Foster nodded, grabbed his father’s arm, Gabriel Foster, and said, ”Dad, let’s hurry inside, it’s about to start.”

Lawrence Winters also pulled Lucas Harlow along, saying, ”The crew is waiting for us inside, let’s go.”

They dispersed and left, with the two men in white suits weaving through the crowd on opposing sides.

Lawrence Winters kept gesturing to Edward Foster, directing him where to go while she pulled Lucas Harlow in the opposite direction.

Autumn Stetford swiftly noticed that the Foster father and son, Lucas Harlow, and Lawrence Winters were all leaving.

She looked at Ruby Sheldon, still sobbing and hiccupping in her arms, and Aiden Sheldon standing beside her with a grim face. Considering the many reporters around, she temporarily swallowed her anger, telling Aiden Sheldon, ”Aiden, let’s go inside first; there are too many people here, and Betty is not comfortable with it.”

Aiden Sheldon grunted in response, reaching out to pull Ruby Sheldon from Autumn’s arms, holding her tightly by his side, sternly saying, ”Betty, no one can hurt you; come with me, I’ll help you find her to settle this!”

Right at this moment, chaos suddenly erupted in the crowd.

A few people dressed in cloaks and masks, disguised as movie characters, acting as ”extras,” suddenly took out pepper spray and began spraying it madly into the crowd.

One person mumbled and cursed, ”Damn bear! How come there’s an extra one in a white suit?! Who the hell are we supposed to deal with today?!”

”The one holding the lilies! Over there!” shouted the other, using the pepper spray to clear a path while charging towards Edward Foster.
