Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 518: Chapter 279: How Are You Going to Thank Me? (Second Update)

”Mr. Osborne, back then, your company couldn’t hire a single person. If it weren’t for me, you’d be a one-man army, right?” Blake Leaf said rudely.

Kenneth Osborne remained noncommittal, looking at Blake Leaf with a calm expression and said lightly, ”Hmm, what else?”

”What else?” Blake Leaf carefully observed Kenneth Osborne’s expression but couldn’t detect any clues from his enviably handsome face.

He had no choice but to brace himself and continue, ”Recently, I discovered that the company’s ERP system has downgraded my access to that of an ordinary employee, making many sections invisible to me, especially the financial section. I want to ask what is going on.”

Kenneth Osborne smiled slightly, ”Manager Leaf, what’s your position?”

Blake Leaf was stunned for a moment, ”Operations Manager, mainly responsible for developing the company’s app and managing the official blog.”

”Hmm, then tell me, why do you need to access the ERP’s financial system?” Kenneth Osborne said calmly, ”Does it have anything to do with your primary job responsibilities?”

A company’s financial system is almost one of its core contents, which no one can casually allow others to see.

Blake Leaf blushed slightly but still mustered up the courage to say, ”But I feel like I’m also a part of the company, and I was a partner fighting alongside you during the early stages of the startup...”

Kenneth Osborne finally understood Blake Leaf’s intentions.

This was dissatisfaction with just being a low-level employee; he wanted to become a ”partner.”

Why should he?

Even though he graduated from Yanda University’s computer science program, he hadn’t put all his intelligence and effort into technology.

And in terms of operations, Blake Leaf’s performance over the past six months can only be described as ”mediocre.”

Kenneth Osborne knew that Blake Leaf had recently even delegated most of his work to new hires and rarely came to the office himself...

Kenneth Osborne shook his head with a smile, ”Manager Leaf, if you want to become a partner, I’m truly sorry, our company isn’t a partnership, so not even I am a partner.”

”Our company only has shareholders. If you have money to invest, you can look for another company. We aren’t accepting new shareholders for now.”

With that, he opened his computer and said, ”Anything else?”

This was essentially telling him to leave.

Blake Leaf realized Kenneth Osborne had no intention of sharing a piece of the pie with him, feeling both ashamed and annoyed.

He had always considered himself Kenneth Osborne’s ”partner,” even if not in the true sense, but he had indeed made significant contributions during AI Vision Promise’s startup phase.

Yet Kenneth Osborne hasn’t even given him a share of the equity to this day.

Blake Leaf stood up angrily, holding back his rage, and said, ”It seems I’ve been overstepping. I know some heavyweights in the investment circle unfamiliar with AI Vision Promise, and it was my strong recommendation that convinced them to invest in our company. But since Mr. Osborne doesn’t need it, I’ll just turn them down.”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t even lift his head, just said, ”Mm, thank you, please decline them all.”

Blake Leaf almost fainted.

He took a deep breath and turned to walk out of Kenneth Osborne’s office.

Only then did Kenneth Osborne raise his eyes and watch Blake Leaf’s back gradually fade away.

Back in his office, Blake Leaf found it impossible to concentrate on work.

He tried looking at the company’s official blog on his computer, but there was nothing new.

He couldn’t help but take out his phone and send a WeChat message to Summer Spencer: Summer, where are you now?

He waited for a long time but didn’t get a reply.

Blake Leaf then sent a WeChat message to Spring Spencer: Spring, what are you doing? I miss you.JPG.

He waited for a long time, too, and still got no reply.

Just when Blake Leaf was starting to feel anxious, Spring Spencer replied to his WeChat.

[Spring]: I just went for a run and didn’t bring my phone. What are you doing?

Blake Leaf sighed in relief and replied: I’m at work, but I just can’t focus, probably because I miss you so much.

Spring Spencer sent an embarrassed emoji and replied: We just had dinner together a few days ago...

Blake Leaf replied: How about we have hot pot together today? Suddenly in the mood for hot pot.

Spring Spencer immediately agreed and even replied: I just happen to have something to tell you.

The two of them booked a restaurant and then put down their phones.

Kenneth Osborne mentioned Three Billion Sister today, which made Blake Leaf realize he really hadn’t contacted Three Billion Sister in a long time.

He missed her just a little bit.

But considering his current situation, he resolutely shook his head again.

...

After getting off work in the afternoon, Blake Leaf directly went to the hot pot restaurant where he had arranged to meet Spring Spencer.

He arrived early; after sitting in a window seat in the restaurant, Spring Spencer hadn’t arrived yet.

Blake Leaf ordered a few appetizers and a plate of braised pork head meat and ate while waiting for Spring Spencer.

Summer Spencer happened to be in the same hot pot restaurant today, dining with friends.

She noticed Blake Leaf as soon as he came in because he was seated diagonally opposite her.

Although Blake Leaf’s adoptive parents were ordinary, his own appearance was quite striking, with delicate features, like a scholarly young gentleman.

Summer Spencer, enjoying her conversation with friends, didn’t greet Blake Leaf.

The seats were separated by some greenery, allowing people in the front to not see those in the back, and those in the back to see only a little, maintaining a degree of privacy.

Blake Leaf sat alone for a while, almost finishing the appetizers he ordered before Spring Spencer, panting, came in.

She sat opposite Blake Leaf, with her back to the direction of the greenery, and excitedly smiled, ”Sorry I’m late, I just took a call from a friend, and I have some good news to tell you!”

Her excitement made her voice loud.

Other diners in the restaurant impatiently glanced up at them.

Blake Leaf quickly ”shushed” her, ”Keep it down.”

Spring Spencer tried to lower her voice, smiling as she said, ”Didn’t you say your parents’ will didn’t include your name when they passed away?”

Blake Leaf nodded, saying gloomily, ”That’s what my sister and brother-in-law said. And I’ve also seen the will, and indeed it doesn’t mention me.”

Spring Spencer smirked and said, ”I enlisted some friends from my mom’s side to help me gather some documents sent over recently. I’ve been looking into your parents’ matters from back then. What if I tell you I found out they might have left a testament, and that will is quite favorable to you? How would you thank me?”
