Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 497: Chapter 269: There’s No One She Can’t Handle (Second Update)

Lawrence Winters quickly said, ”How would I dare? Whatever Kenneth says goes. If Kenneth says east, I don’t dare go west. All those summer and winter vacations were spent under Kenneth’s ’guidance,’ right, Kenneth?”

”Really? I don’t remember. I only know that if you’re unhappy, I’ll make whoever made you unhappy even more unhappy.” Kenneth Osborne squinted with a smile and pinched Lawrence’s cheek.

Lawrence giggled and hid behind Mrs. Osborne, saying, ”Mrs. Osborne is nice to me, actually because she cares about you. I know that.”

Then he said to Mrs. Osborne, ”Mrs. Osborne, don’t worry. I will definitely be good to Kenneth. You care for me, and I care for him. If I do anything wrong, please teach me.”

Mrs. Osborne was so flattered that she didn’t know what to say and quickly replied, ”With how you’re doing, what can I teach you? As long as you and Kenneth live well, us parents will be at ease.”

Such a good daughter-in-law, even Cameron Spencer was moved upon hearing it.

He couldn’t help but think of his eldest son’s wife, Eva Harris.

That woman came from a better background than Lawrence, but in terms of behavior, she was way off.

No matter which side of the family, real troublemakers are few—it’s usually just people playing favorites.

If you can say a few good words in front of the other’s parents, not scrutinize their every move with a magnifying glass like an enemy, getting along smoothly isn’t so difficult.

Yet, Eva Harris once didn’t even give Cameron Spencer any face, throwing tantrums at Justus Spencer in front of him, putting Justus in a bad spot and embarrassing Cameron too.

Such interactions only made others feel uncomfortable like sitting on pins and needles.

Over time, even the closest relationships will gradually fade.

But Kenneth Osborne wouldn’t really let Lawrence Winters act submissively in front of his parents.

He smiled and said, ”Anyway, whoever treats Nora well, I’ll treat them well. Dad, Mom, Sis, Nora and I are in this for life. If you make her unhappy and she ignores me, I’ll be single forever, making you take care of me for the rest of my life.”

”Oh! You silly child! What nonsense are you talking!” Mrs. Osborne said nervously, spitting thrice, ”I’ve already told you not to worry, don’t I know what you’re thinking? Alright, you two live well, and if any trouble arises, go to your sister. Your sister is very capable now and won’t let her brother and sister-in-law suffer, right? Brooke?”

Brooke Osborne quickly nodded and said, ”Of course, if I have food to eat, Kenneth and Lawrence won’t go hungry.”

Lawrence pulled a corner of his mouth, thinking to himself, I was just being polite, and now you’re all joining in...

Kenneth knew what she was thinking, smiled at her, and held her hand, saying, ”Hungry? Want to have breakfast?”

Lawrence remembered that she had come out because she smelled the aroma of fish porridge and pan-fried buns and almost forgotten because of this bunch of people.

Lawrence briskly said, ”Sister Brooke, have you all had breakfast yet?”

”We already ate before coming.” Brooke Osborne hurriedly said, ”You haven’t eaten yet, right? Go have breakfast first.”

Right then, Nick Zeller walked out of the dining room and said, ”Lawrence, Kenneth, you go have breakfast, and I’ll entertain everyone here.”

Lawrence hurriedly trotted towards the dining room, fearing the fish porridge and pan-fried buns would get cold.

Kenneth followed behind her, also heading towards the dining room.

Nick Zeller clearly had already eaten, looking satisfied, he said to everyone in the living room, ”What would you like to drink? We have coffee, Pu’er tea, juice, cola, and bottled water.”

Cameron Spencer nodded, ”I’ll have a coffee. Get a bottle of pure water for Brooke.”

Brooke Osborne was still breastfeeding, so wouldn’t drink coffee or tea.

Mr. Osborne asked for Pu’er tea, and Mrs. Osborne wanted juice.

Nick Zeller went to the kitchen, prepared the drinks, and placed them on the coffee table in the living room.

Cameron Spencer picked up his coffee cup but didn’t drink. Instead, he stood up and said to Nick Zeller, ”Mr. Zeller, can you accompany me to look at the balcony here? I want to compare it to the view from my place.”

”Sure.” Nick replied readily, leading Cameron Spencer to the large balcony opposite the living room.

The large apartment had two balconies, and Nick took him to the bigger one.

There were some outdoor furniture and a sunshade umbrella set up there.

The two sat on the rattan sofa under the sunshade umbrella, gazing for a while at the distant skyline.

Cameron Spencer placed the coffee cup on the glass table and carefully sized up Nick Zeller.

Nick Zeller was particularly tall and large, having put on weight in middle age, his face a likeable round shape that exuded a few traces of shrewdness in its honesty—a perfect blend that wasn’t off-putting, showing a kind of glibness from long exposure to the world.

Cameron lowered his eyes, looking at the thick black coffee in the cup, smiling as he said, ”When Winter had his two-month birthday, Kenneth sent a Celestial Path Sect gift set to his sister, I heard it was purchased from your Taobao shop?”

Nick Zeller showed an embarrassed expression and whispered, ”...Well, I just make a little extra cash. Kenneth knows.”

”I don’t blame you for making money,” Cameron said with a laugh. ”On the contrary, I think that gift set was quite nice. Six thousand was really cheap.”

”Really?!” Nick’s expression immediately turned both surprised and delighted. ”Oh, Mr. Spencer! You really know your stuff!”

Cameron nodded, ”Indeed.”

He suddenly extended his arm, and from his sleeve fell a small peach wood sword onto the glass table, ”Just this peach wood sword alone is worth one hundred thousand.”

Nick’s breath paused for a moment.

But he quickly returned to normal, eyes widened, ”What did you say?! This sword is worth that much?! No way! I... I got it from a small stall! It cost me less than five hundred!”

”Oh? Like that?” Cameron nodded with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, ”Then you did make a profit. But do you remember which small stall you got the peach wood sword from? This knot seems newly tied. Did it come with the sword?”

Nick chuckled, ”When I was still out telling fortunes, I collected it. That stall’s long gone.”

”As for the knot, a friend taught me how to tie it. I thought adding a tassel made it look better.”

”Is that so?” Cameron showed obvious disappointment.

He supported himself on the glass tabletop, standing up slowly.

His body stooped, walking unsteadily, turning to leave.

When passing by Nick, he suddenly staggered, teetering as though about to fall.

Nick instinctively reached out to support him.

Cameron also firmly grasped his arm and, with the help of his support, steadied his footing.

Yet one hand quickly flicked away a short, hard hair from Nick’s shoulder.
