Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 476: Chapter 258: Gourds on the Same Vine

”Asthma?!” Cameron Spencer and Brooke Osborne exclaimed together.

Once you get asthma, it’s basically for life, with no possibility of a cure.

Winter, still so young, has asthma?!

Kenneth Osborne on the other side of the video call was also speechless.

He was merely using Winter’s runny nose as a topic to try and divert their attention.

He didn’t expect there was actually a problem.

But thinking about Cameron Spencer’s family, he sighed softly again.

How could such a family be simple?

Look at Spring Spencer, Summer Spencer, and the eldest son Justus Spencer who died in a car accident...

Kenneth Osborne’s pupils suddenly constricted but quickly returned to normal.

He seemed to have thought of something serious.

Was Justus Spencer’s car accident really because of the external issues with Victory Wise Corporation, or... was he used by his family?

Just like little Winter now.

A few months old Winter couldn’t possibly have provoked any trouble outside, right?

But then again, asthma seems to have genetic factors. Spring Spencer said she has asthma, so does Cameron Spencer have it too?

Kenneth Osborne then asked, ”Mr. Spencer, do you have asthma?”

Cameron Spencer shook his head, ”I don’t have it. Could I smoke if I did?”

”That’s not right,” Kenneth Osborne said casually, ”Since you don’t have asthma, either your daughter’s asthma is genetic from her mother, or she developed it later. So, little Winter’s asthma must be man-made.”

”What do you mean?” Cameron Spencer looked over with a heavy gaze.

”Because my sister doesn’t have asthma, which means Winter’s parents don’t have it, so his asthma is certainly not inherited. It must be caused by external factors. You should take him to a specialized children’s hospital for a thorough check-up.”

Kenneth Osborne paused and sighed again, ”For future medical consultations, it’s better to visit the expert clinics of reputable hospitals. Your family doesn’t lack money, but it seems the doctor you hired isn’t quite competent...”

Before he could finish, that Doctor Hu rushed over, discontentedly saying, ”Who are you? What do you mean by this? I graduated from the country’s best medical university in pediatrics with a PhD. What reason do you have to claim I’m unqualified?”

Kenneth Osborne said coolly, ”If you’re a qualified pediatrician, then I can only assume that you either took someone’s money or are collaborating with someone to deliberately misdiagnose little Winter.”

”I did not! You’re slandering me! I’m going to sue you!” Doctor Hu was taken aback, almost jumping off the ground, pointing at the small phone screen, nearly cursing, ”Who do you think you are? How dare you sprout such nonsense! Who are you claiming to be? I’m going to sue you for defamation!”

Kenneth Osborne sneered, ”I was just guessing, but now I’m ninety percent sure you did it on purpose. Mr. Spencer, you should first take little Winter to a reputable hospital for a check-up and confirm the asthma diagnosis before holding this Doctor Hu accountable. Also, you should investigate whoever found this Doctor Hu for you. From top to bottom, everything linked needs to be thoroughly examined, otherwise your little Winter might struggle to grow up healthy...”

”Ah?! Someone is really trying to harm my little Winter?!” yelled Mrs. Xiao immediately upon hearing this, grabbing Doctor Hu by the hair and ruffling her neatly tied bun to shambles. ”Are you sent by Ava Harlow or Hazel Winchester?! Besides them, nobody else would want to harm my little Winter!”

Kenneth Osborne held back with great effort, resisting the urge to smile.

In such matters, his mom never disappointed him, always pinpointing the key issues.

Spring Spencer and Summer Spencer both frowned and said in unison, ”Mrs. Xiao, don’t speak recklessly.”

”How am I speaking recklessly?” Mrs. Xiao stood firm, ”My little Winter is Mr. Spencer’s only son! Besides your moms, who else would dislike him?! Oh, right, you two might also dislike him! —Is it connected to you?! Which of you paid this Doctor Hu?!”

”What you’re doing is illegal, I tell you! This is a life we’re talking about, how can you be so cruel?!” Mrs. Xiao was extremely angry now, tears welling up in her eyes, turning to Cameron Spencer and saying, ”Mr. Spencer, in our common folk’s homes, there isn’t such messy business! This blessing, Brooke and little Winter cannot enjoy; you should let them return with us!”

”Our home doesn’t look down on them. As long as we have a bite to eat, there will be a bite for Brooke and little Winter!”

”Though we’re not as wealthy, there’s no risk to life!”

”Even if you have money, with those two big sisters of his, our little Winter might not have the life to enjoy it!”

Mrs. Xiao’s words quickly shifted to placing suspicion on Spring Spencer and Summer Spencer.

The two of them felt very awkward.

Spring Spencer said helplessly, ”Mrs. Xiao, you need evidence when you speak. I’ve been in the Capital City this whole half-year, unaware of anything at home, and haven’t been involved. I wasn’t even aware of Winter’s full month celebration.”

Summer Spencer quickly said, ”I’ve also been in the Capital City, never managing household affairs! You can check. If you find any connection between Doctor Hu and us, we will jointly apologize to little Winter!”

Mrs. Xiao was waiting for these words, her eyes gleaming as she looked at Spring Spencer, ”Miss Spencer, and what about you?”

Spring Spencer shook her head, ”You can certainly investigate. If you find any connection with me, Summer and I will jointly give up Spencer Family’s inheritance, alright?”

”Alright!” Mrs. Xiao slapped her thigh before Cameron Spencer could speak, ”Then it’s decided! If anything happens to our little Winter, it’ll surely be the misdeeds of you two! Besides, you two girls, you really don’t have a right to inherit the Spencer Family. Don’t act generous in front of me, swearing over things that aren’t yours!”

Spring Spencer twitched the corner of her mouth and couldn’t help but glance at Cameron Spencer.

Cameron Spencer didn’t have the slightest intention of refuting Mrs. Osborne.

Spring Spencer and Summer Spencer felt a chill in their hearts.

Previously, they had accepted that they were not as good as their brother Justus Spencer.

After all, Justus was the son of Cameron Spencer’s lawful wife, historically known as the legitimate eldest son, who had the natural right of inheritance.

And even with Justus’s status, Spring Spencer and Summer Spencer never gave up competing with him.

Now, what is little Winter supposed to be?

Just like their own background, he’s only a few months old, and he’s thinking of taking over all the Spencer Family assets?

They didn’t really acknowledge the marriage certificate of Brooke Osborne and Cameron Spencer.

In the hearts of Spring Spencer and Summer Spencer, Brooke Osborne was just like their mothers, Ava Harlow and Hazel Winchester, with the same status.

Cameron Spencer was silent for a moment, but finally said, ”You’re all my children, and of course, you all have inheritance rights. But little Winter is still young, and you two, as sisters, need to help take care of him. If he feels unwell, as his sisters, you indeed have a responsibility.”

Does this truly tie little Winter’s health to the responsibility of the two sisters?

Spring Spencer frowned and immediately opposed, tactfully saying, ”Dad, if that’s the case, then I give up my inheritance rights to the Spencer Family. I’m very busy myself, and I also plan to get married and have children in the future, so I might not have time to take care of little Winter. Little Winter has you, Mrs. Osborne, and his grandparents, as well as an uncle; that’s really enough, so I won’t add to the chaos.”

Cameron Spencer raised his eyebrows, displeased, ”Are you giving up your inheritance rights to the Spencer Family?”

”The trust fund you gave me is enough. Of course, if you think it’s inappropriate, I have no complaints if you take back my trust fund,” Spring Spencer shrugged indifferently.

Summer Spencer looked at her carefree attitude and was almost filled with jealousy.

She was also speechless with anger, but she did not have the courage to abandon everything like Spring Spencer.

Because Spring Spencer’s mother is Ava Harlow, the Harlow Family alone could provide her with enough resources.

But her mother, Hazel Winchester, had nothing; if they left the Spencer Family, they would be nothing.

So, their backs could not be straightened.

Yet it didn’t matter that they couldn’t stand tall.

Summer Spencer’s mind moved, and she quickly said, ”Dad, I will make sure to watch over little Winter and not let anyone hurt him. How about I help you investigate Dr. Hu’s matter?”

Cameron Spencer eyed her for a while, confirming that she didn’t know about her mother Hazel Winchester’s involvement, and said indifferently, ”Alright, I understand, but regarding Dr. Hu, I’ll investigate myself. From now on, the Spencer Family has only you and little Winter, and you should treat him well, like a real sister.”

Summer Spencer was overjoyed and nodded quickly, ”Understood! I’ll definitely take good care of little Winter!”

She was speaking as if little Winter was her own son, rather than her half-brother.

Even Brooke Osborne got goosebumps just listening to her.

But Brooke didn’t say anything, holding the child tightly, and said to Cameron Spencer, ”Mr. Spencer, even on New Year’s Day, regular hospitals will be open, right?”

”There is a nationally renowned A-level children’s hospital here; we’ll go there for a check-up,” said Cameron Spencer, taking the child from Brooke Osborne, and instructed his men coldly, ”Ask Dr. Hu who instructed her to do such a despicable thing that cuts off descendants!”

After Cameron Spencer finished speaking, he left with Brooke Osborne and little Winter.

Mr. and Mrs. Osborne followed them out of the door.

Dr. Hu, with a face full of fear, was taken to another room for questioning.

Spring Spencer expressionlessly walked towards the exit.

Halfway there, she looked back at Blake Leaf and said, ”Blake, aren’t you coming with me?”

Blake Leaf glanced at Summer Spencer.

Just a moment ago, Summer Spencer had discreetly slipped her business card into his hand under the pretense of a handshake.

At this moment, Summer Spencer didn’t even look at him.

Blake Leaf raised his head and said, ”Coming.”

He followed Spring Spencer out of the Spencer family mansion and cautiously asked, ”Spring, are you really giving up the Spencer Family’s inheritance?”

”Yes, didn’t you see my father just disowned me?” Spring Spencer started the car engine and said indifferently, ”From now on, the Spencer Family belongs to Summer and Winter.”
