Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 493: Chapter 268: Not to Be Underestimated (First Update)

”What? What do you mean by Lawrence’s house? Explain clearly!” Mrs. Osborne, having received Cameron’s full support in the Spencer Family, has become even more adept at causing trouble, completely ignoring others.

And Brooke Osborne? She never listened to her at all.

Seeing Mrs. Osborne’s aggressive manner, Lawrence Winters blinked, momentarily thinking he hadn’t woken up from a dream.

Because such absurdities usually only make sense in dreams.

But the next second, Mrs. Osborne let her know she wasn’t dreaming.

Because Mrs. Osborne had already rushed to her, grabbed her arm, and said with a frown, ”Why are you dressed like this? My son doesn’t even have a girlfriend yet. If other women know about this, how can my son find a girlfriend?”

Lawrence Winters immediately snapped back to reality, realizing she wasn’t dreaming.

Kenneth Osborne was also baffled by his mom’s antics. He only came to his senses when she rushed to Lawrence’s side. He quickly dashed over, wedging between his mom and Lawrence, pulling her to stand behind him for protection.

He smiled at his mom and said, ”Mom, you’ve misunderstood. This isn’t my house. I spent New Year’s with Nora’s family, and before I bought my own place, I temporarily stayed here.”

Mrs. Osborne almost stumbled from the push.

Regaining her balance with difficulty, she was struck hard again by Kenneth’s words, almost not recovering.

She blinked rapidly, her short hair permed into the style beloved by middle-aged women, now appearing particularly fluffy and voluminous.

”What?! This house isn’t yours?!” Mrs. Osborne looked at Kenneth in disbelief. ”Impossible! You’re so capable! You run a big company and make big money. How can this house not be yours?!”

Mrs. Osborne refused to accept this reality. She stubbornly said, ”Tell me, were you duped by the Winters Family?! Did you pay for this house, but it’s in someone else’s name?!”

She angrily turned back to scan the living room, not seeing Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller, further convinced they had something to hide and that they were too guilty to face her, undoubtedly having done something dishonest!

Cameron Spencer spoke with a smile, ”Kenneth, you made at least a billion last year. You could easily buy a dozen houses like this.”

This statement was like dropping water onto a hot pan, instantly causing an explosion.

Mrs. Osborne was stunned by the figure ”a billion.”

She instinctively waved her hand, grabbing the back of the nearby sofa to steady herself, glaring at Kenneth, saying, ”Kenneth, you... you really earned a billion last year?!”

Then she reassured herself, ”That’s right! I knew my son wasn’t so useless! Borrowed a place?! Clearly, you’re the ones borrowing my son’s house! I warn you, don’t think Kenneth’s easy-going! If you want to take advantage of him and occupy his house, you’ll have to walk over my dead body first!”

For Mrs. Osborne, a lifelong achievement is a house.

Since she decided that this large flat was Kenneth’s house, she must defend it with her life.

Kenneth Osborne snorted coldly in his heart.

He knew Cameron Spencer wasn’t here with good intentions.

Besides Nick Zeller, he wouldn’t let him off either.

Luckily, he was already prepared.

Kenneth Osborne smiled at his mom and said, ”Mom, don’t worry. This house really was bought by the Winters Family, Nora’s family paid for it. You can check this with the bank, and it has nothing to do with me financially.”

Then he looked at Cameron Spencer with a smile and said, ”Mr. Spencer, you’re quite eloquent. Where did I make a billion? That was from investment returns. Didn’t my investments require capital? I borrowed money from a private equity fund for investments, and I only just broke even, still paying interest. The little bit I actually earned is only enough to buy a small apartment.”

Mrs. Osborne’s head was spinning, only catching the part she understood to ask, ”What? Who did you borrow money from? How much did you borrow? Why do you have to pay interest?”

”I borrowed a billion,” Kenneth said with a bitter smile, ”and there’s interest. I’ve only repaid part of the principal so far, and I have to keep paying every month.”

”Borrowed a billion?!” Mrs. Osborne felt her blood pressure rising, ”How is that earning? Borrowing a billion to make a billion and still paying interest! That’s clearly a losing business!”

”You’re right, it’s a losing business,” Kenneth patiently sat Mrs. Osborne down on the sofa and continued, ”So Nora’s family kindly took me in as a tenant, which saved me a lot of money and trouble.”

Then he pulled Lawrence Winters over, walked in front of Mrs. Osborne and Mr. Osborne, and said with a smile, ”And Nora doesn’t mind that I don’t earn much. She has already accepted my marriage proposal.”
