Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 193: Chapter 114: If You’re Going to Slap Someone’s Face, Why Wait for an Auspicious Day? (Third Update)

Lawrence Winters happily put away the contract, stood up and said, ”Thank you so much, Edward. I really enjoyed chatting with you today, and I hope we have the chance to work together in the future.”

”Absolutely! I also enjoyed chatting with you, and I hope you’ll accept our company’s offer!”

Edward Foster cheerfully escorted Lawrence Winters all the way to the first floor of the building.

Lawrence Winters walked out of the elevator, waved at him, and said, ”Edward, there’s no need to see me off further. I don’t want to keep you from your work.”

”No trouble at all, no trouble at all.” Edward still wanted to follow her out of the elevator, but Lawrence pushed him back inside and pressed the upward button.

The elevator doors closed swiftly.

Edward Foster stared at the elevator doors in surprise, and after a moment, he pressed the button for the twenty-eighth floor.

He folded his arms, leaned against the mirrored wall of the elevator, and saw himself smiling broadly in the mirror.

Edward Foster: ”...”

...

As soon as the elevator doors closed, Lawrence Winters headed towards Starbucks to find Kenneth Osborne.

Sitting in his usual spot was Kenneth Osborne, but he wasn’t alone. A stylishly dressed, sharp-looking woman was sitting in front of him, chatting happily.

Kenneth Osborne didn’t put up any barriers and listened politely, occasionally nodding in agreement.

The scene was quite harmonious.

Lawrence Winters watched from afar for a while, realizing she wasn’t the least bit jealous nor uncomfortable.

She touched her chin, thinking she truly didn’t harbor any special feelings for Kenneth Osborne. To avoid any awkward situations, maybe she should keep a proper distance from Kenneth.

But then she thought about the ”tight-knit” friendship they had shared over the years and felt a deep sense of regret about becoming more distant. It was truly a pity.

Kenneth Osborne, while chatting with someone, suddenly felt a prickly sensation, as if someone was watching him from behind.

He quickly turned around and indeed spotted Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters flashed a smile when he turned around and waved at him.

Kenneth Osborne immediately stood up and said to the woman, ”Sorry, my friend is here, and I have to go.”

The woman was surprised and looked up to see the young lady standing by the Starbucks entrance, and the light in her eyes dimmed instantly.

”Is she... Is she your girlfriend?” she stammered.

Kenneth Osborne just smiled without saying anything, packed his things, and walked away.

Upon reaching the entrance, he casually took Lawrence Winters’s hand, interlocking their fingers, and together they headed out of the building.

The action was so natural that Lawrence didn’t notice it at first. She happily chatted about her ”assessment” today, laughing all the way.

She said further, ”Edward is really amusing, I acted like I was the interviewer, and it seems he didn’t even notice. He kept boasting about how great their company is, saying I wouldn’t regret joining them and so on...”

She also told him, ”Oh, do you know who Edward is? It’s the father-son duo we met back then!”

”Wow, the father looks quite charming, but surprisingly the son isn’t bad either, actually more heroic-looking!”

Kenneth Osborne paused in his steps, ”Who is Edward?”

”It’s the two guys who were sitting diagonally across from us.” Lawrence reminded him, ”You haven’t forgotten already, have you?”

”What made you forget so quickly? Was it the woman who tried to chat you up earlier?—she’s not particularly pretty.”

Kenneth felt a hint of jealousy in Lawrence’s words, which made him secretly happy, though he remained calm on the surface and said, ”I’m not shallow like a ’face-dog’; I never care about women’s appearances.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

She felt uncomfortable and murmured, ”Are you trying to comfort me or subtly criticize me?—I feel offended.”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

”That’s not what I meant.” He was a bit flustered and tried hard to explain, ”I mean, for other women, I really don’t care what they look like...”

”Alright, Kenneth, no need to explain, I understand.” She gently freed her hand from his, no longer entwining her fingers with his, and said with a laugh, ”Actually, I’m the same. I’ve been around you for so long that I’ve become immune to handsome guys.”

”Oh? So you’re not going to be a ’face-dog’ anymore?” Kenneth Osborne knew well about Lawrence Winters’s preferences.

”Of course, I will!” Lawrence replied without hesitation, ”I’m definitely focused on looks when judging people. But with Kenneth’s benchmark set here, anyone who doesn’t match up just looks like a blank slate to me, and whether they’re good-looking or not doesn’t matter.”
