Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 158: Chapter 97: Lawrence Winters’ Views on Love (Second Update)

Talking to this girl is like fighting for his life.

Each time he speaks, he feels like he’s losing a bit of his lifespan.

Lawrence Winters looked a bit awkward, his eyes fluttering around as he softly said, ”They definitely think I’m still a kid who can’t fall in love early...”

”You’re about to graduate college, and even getting married now is legal, where’s the early romance in that?” Kenneth Osborne had lost his appetite, even feeling a faint pain in his stomach.

Lawrence glanced at him sheepishly, then suddenly felt inspired and leaned closer to scrutinize his face, curiously saying, ”Kenneth, why are you acting so strange today? Are you like those people saying that you see me as your girlfriend too?”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

Can he strangle her now and pay with his life later?

He used every ounce of strength to keep his expression unchanged, trying to muster a rebuttal.

But just as he was about to speak, Lawrence frantically waved her hands, quickly saying, ”Kenneth, no way! I know I’m great! But I want to be lifelong good friends with you! I don’t want us to be a couple!”

”Just the thought of becoming a couple and then breaking up, I can’t bear it...” She looked at Kenneth, her voice dwindling.

She tugged at his sleeve, speaking slowly, ”... Kenneth, I’ve seen this kind of couple too many times with my uncle. It starts all great and they wish they could give each other their hearts.”

”But soon enough, they change... Love is really terrifying, it can make a normal person completely unrecognizable...”

”They’ll argue, have cold wars, find each other annoying.”

”Those who were once so passionately in love end up as enemies, even setting traps to harm each other.”

Lawrence patted her chest, her eyes turning red, ”Kenneth, don’t look at how close Joyce Shaw and her boyfriend are now, one day they’ll break up too!”

Kenneth Osborne had a headache.

He hadn’t even started crying, yet her eyes were already red.

What else could he do?

Of course he could only forgive her.

He really didn’t know he could stoop this low.

Lawrence slightly lowered her head in front of him, and he compromised without principle.

Seeing her extremely gloomy look, he had no choice but to reach out and pat her back soothingly.

His palm was warm, lightly resting against the heart area on her back, feeling her lively heartbeat.

She was truly sad.

Tears finally began to fall, fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, soaking the short, fine fuzz clinging to her scalp.

Kenneth Osborne’s hand gradually moved from her back to her shoulder, then gently pulled her close.

Lawrence leaned against him following his strength.

Kenneth continued to exert strength, eventually bringing over his other arm and pulling her onto his lap.

Tenderly, like cradling a child, he held her across his chest.

A chaotic heart suddenly quieted down.

He gently yet helplessly said, ”Stop crying, if your eyes get red from crying, others might think I bullied you.”

Lawrence was still sobbing, ”I feel bad inside. Why do those people not choose to remain good friends but insist on dating? Is being a couple really good?”

”I think they actually don’t want to be friends anymore but are too embarrassed to break off, so they go all-in on romance. Then they can legitimately split up and never see each other again.”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

”What kind of twisted logic is this? You not wanting to date is your business, but don’t tarnish others’ feelings.” Kenneth tried to correct Lawrence’s views on love, ”And also, Joyce Shaw and her boyfriend are heading towards marriage, don’t mention breaking up in front of them.”

Lawrence gradually stopped crying, murmuring ”Uh-huh” to show she heard him, while rubbing against Kenneth’s chest and sniffing, curiously asking, ”What cologne are you wearing? It smells really good.”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

”I’m not wearing any cologne. What man wears cologne? That’s pretty girly.” Kenneth pressed her head down, urging her to stay still in his arms, fearing she might stir up trouble he couldn’t handle.

Lawrence wasn’t used to being held like this.

She only found it novel for a moment and soon struggled to return to her seat.

”What’s wrong? My arms aren’t comfortable?” Kenneth loosened his grip, returning her to her seat, scoffing, ”You have no idea how many girls want to trade places with you.”

Lawrence got anxious upon hearing that, immediately spread her legs, and sat back on Kenneth’s lap, tugging his shirt sternly, saying, ”Kenneth! Clarify things for me! Am I your best friend?”

Kenneth nodded, spoke grumpily, ”Yes, from childhood until now, have I ever been this ’close’ with anyone else?”

He emphasized the word ”close.”

Lawrence clutched tighter: ”Since I’m your best friend, why let other girls trade places with me? – This spot is mine! Always mine!”

Kenneth blinked, a bit dizzy from Lawrence’s antics, wondering if his previous words had finally triggered her sly instincts.

He lifted his eyes, a trace of indefinable emotion flickering in his gaze, saying, ”... Are you saying, I can’t hold other girls? Only you can be in my arms?”

Lawrence was about to nod but suddenly remembered something, sheepishly released her grip, returned to her seat, smoothing out the shirt she had crumpled.

She continued to laugh awkwardly, saying, ”... Well, I’m saying my best friend spot is mine. Who you hug is none of my business? As for your arms, you’ll have a girlfriend someday, and that spot can only be hers... hers... hahahaha... I can’t occupy that spot... hahahahaha...”

She hadn’t gone completely foolish, hadn’t fallen entirely into his trap.
