Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Shen You and Yu Zimu glanced at Qin Moting. Qin Xiaosan’s fourth uncle was usually very low-key in Hong Kong, rarely attending circles and parties, always unassuming and indifferent to most things.

This——

He seemed overly concerned about his sister-in-law, didn’t he?

At first, when the little guy mentioned him, they thought he cared about Qin Xiaosan. Now it looked like they were completely wrong!

What was going on?

After hesitating for a moment, they decided that finding everyone was the priority, so the two went to search the northern area.

The little guy, Che Huan, and Qin Moting headed south.

When they arrived, there were no huge rocks in the area, but the temples and pavilions on the mountain had collapsed into disarray because of the earthquake.

After walking for a while, the little guy got tired, panting and slowing down.

Qin Moting looked at him, ”Come here, Grandpa will carry you.”

The assistant hurriedly spoke up, ”Mr. Qin, let me do it.”

”It’s fine; I can still carry a child.”

Qin Moting bent down to pick up the little guy, his steps steady.

The little guy glanced at Qin Moting and hooked one hand around his neck. He looked at him warily, afraid that Huanhuan would hear, and whispered softly, ”It’s no use trying to win me over; Huanhuan likes Huo Jinnan. You see, she’s not even afraid of the earthquake and came looking for him. I advise you not to waste your efforts.”

Qin Moting smiled, ”Is that so?”

The little guy didn’t respond further, looking at Qin Moting with a frosty gaze before diverting his eyes. It was Qin Xiaosan’s fourth uncle who volunteered to carry him, not the other way around!

His eyes scanned the mountain, wondering where Huo Jinnan was at the moment? How was he?

Meanwhile, Che Huan walked on, anxiously watching the GPS on her phone, the distance between them diminishing little by little, growing ever closer, and her heart pounding almost in her throat.

Soon, they reached an area near the mountain peak. Che Huan wanted to go higher, but Qin Moting stopped her, ”It’s quite dangerous on the mountain top. If an aftershock happens, there could be landslides or mudslides. We should search around here—the fact that this area remained intact after last night’s strong quake suggests that the geological layers here are quite stable and unlikely to succumb to such disasters.”

Che Huan didn’t say anything. She had wanted to go up, but seeing the little guy, she let go of the idea.

They walked around the vicinity, checking the map. They were so close, yet her phone’s location couldn’t overlap with his.

Soon, she realized that the phone was on the opposite mountain—the side hit by the mudslide.

Instantly, she found it hard to breathe!

She looked at Qin Moting and suddenly understood why he had split them into two groups, choosing the southern area.

She took a deep breath, stabilizing her mind. With trembling hands, she managed to open WeChat and sent a message, ”Have you found the location?” Then she stood there, waiting for a reply.

About half an hour later, a photo and a message came through the group. They had found a smartphone crushed by a huge boulder, and the message read, ”We haven’t found any villagers or people out of contact on this side. Sister-in-law, take it easy, Huo Ge and the others should be fine.”

Che Huan let out a sigh of relief, holding her chest. But a second later, anxiety gripped her again—they couldn’t possibly have checked every place where the boulders had rolled down.

She, who had never believed in God or Buddha, prayed relentlessly for the first time, hoping, praying he was unharmed.

...

By evening, a shower had started in the earthquake zone.

Shen You and Yu Zimu, soaked to the skin, had pitched tents, ”Sister-in-law, you and Huo Xiaowu should rest.”
