Daddy Always Gets Jealous

”We’ve arrived.”

”Huanhuan, there’s been an earthquake over there, be careful okay?”

The little guy glanced at Yu Zimu and Shen You, sitting in a helicopter transporting supplies and looking down, worried that Che Huan would get worried if he mentioned he was on his way to Winter City, Lu’an County.

”I know, I’m hanging up now.”

Hearing Che Huan’s voice, the little guy ”Hmm’d” and looked towards Yu Zimu, ”I really don’t know what Huo Jinnan is doing there, making everyone worried.”

Yu Zimu and Shen You were also worried. At this point, they still hadn’t made contact with Brother Huo and Qin Xiaosan, and clearly, the situation was not good.

Brother Huo and Qin Xiaosan had gone to Fangli Village in Lu’an County to test drive the newly developed fighter jet of the company they invested in, Fangli Village was in the epicenter of the earthquake.

Now, the latest news they had was that the only road into the village was blocked, and they could only rely on helicopters to transport relief supplies.

As of 8 a.m., the official death toll reported by Winter City was 223 people, but in fact, just in Fangli Village, the number had already exceeded this figure, and it was still rising further.

Because it struck in the middle of the night, the disaster was particularly severe.

...

At ten o’clock, Che Huan and Qin Moting neared Lu’an County.

The roads were cracked and layered to varying degrees, becoming gradually bumpier.

Collapsed buildings and crumbled walls could be seen everywhere along the way, which was shocking to witness.

A cold wind blew through, bringing an inexplicable chill that was overwhelming.

Che Huan sat in the car, shivering, her mood heavy to the extreme.

She had never seen the aftermath of an earthquake, and the shock of it was indescribable.

Listening to the car radio broadcasting the disaster situation, her heart tightened more and more.

Qin Moting looked at Che Huan, ”Are you scared?”

Che Huan shook her head, ”How much longer until we get there?”

”The roads are in bad shape, probably another hour.”

So, after another bumpy hour, they gradually approached Fangli Village. When they reached the entrance to the village, the road was buried deep by boulders rolled down by the landslide triggered by the earthquake!

The car stopped, and Che Huan closed her eyes, unable to find her breath.

Just then, she heard the voice of the little guy by her ear, ”Huanhuan!”

Che Huan thought it was a hallucination but opened her eyes to see the little guy was clearly in front of her. ”Xiaowei, how... how did you come along?”

”I came with them.”

The little guy pointed behind him.

Che Huan saw Shen You and Yu Zimu.

Shen You looked at Qin Moting and Che Huan, not understanding how the two of them had come together.

”President Qin, sister-in-law, the road to the village is blocked, the helicopter is right there.”

Che Huan got out of the car, her gaze fixed on the direction of the boulders, her legs feeling a bit wobbly.

Shen You looked at Che Huan, ”Sister-in-law, don’t be afraid, Brother Huo and Qin Xiaosan are both specially trained, they should know how to protect themselves.”

Che Huan numbly nodded and followed them onto the helicopter parked on the flat ground not far away.

Once they entered the village, the situation was worse than on the roads, not a single intact courtyard could be seen — everywhere were ruins and rubble...

Che Huan’s breathing became heavier.

The little guy held onto her hand tightly, scared to the limit. Surely Huo Jinnan couldn’t really be in trouble?

The helicopter found a spot and slowly descended.

The group got off, carrying the necessary items and walking for not long before they saw the rescue troops.

Asking along the way, they arrived at the wounded’s area. Tents were set up temporarily everywhere, with medical staff moving briskly between them.

Che Huan and the little guy, hand in hand, walked with heavy and light steps, but didn’t see any familiar faces. Did that mean Huo Jinnan and Qin Shaojin were not here?
