Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Wen Ru let out a long sigh and remained silent.

Zhong Qin stood up, walked to the door, closed it, and looked at Wen Ru, actually, even now, she still didn’t understand why Qin Moting had suddenly agreed to the arranged marriage with the Huo Family back then.

Back at Law University, Wen Ru and Qin Moting were the model couple of the university, and many envied them.

Even now, she couldn’t believe that the man who had been indifferent towards Xiaoru and watched the Wen Family’s downfall was Qin Moting!

However, what was strange was that less than three months into his marriage with Huo Jinyun, he resolutely divorced her despite his parents’ objections and still remained single to this day.

Thinking of this, she looked at Wen Ru, ”Xiaoru, actually, not long after you left, he divorced Huo Jinyun, and he hasn’t found anyone since...”

”Xiaoqin, don’t mention him anymore.”

Wen Ru looked pale, lying there, as withered as a fallen leaf that could be blown away by the wind at any moment.

Zhong Qin felt a pang of heartache. In truth, she didn’t want to bring up Qin Moting either, but after Huo Jinyun made such a scene that day, she couldn’t stop worrying, especially when she remembered what happened in the past, she always felt that Xiaoru needed someone to rely on.

Anan had to take care of Huanhuan and was also busy with work; she was afraid that someone would take advantage of them if they were not careful.

Seeing that Xiaoru was resolute, she didn’t say anything more.

Hearing a knock at the door, she looked towards the entrance and soon heard Axue’s voice, ”Mom.”

Zhong Qin went over and opened the door.

Huo Jinxue handed a breakfast to Zhong Qin, ”Mom, this is for you.”

She turned to Wen Ru, ”Auntie, good morning.”

She glanced around and did not see Che Huan. Could the second sister-in-law have gone to Julong Bay? Should she give her second brother a call?

With that thought, she looked at Zhong Qin, ”Why haven’t I seen my second sister-in-law?”

”She went to the restroom.”

As soon as Zhong Qin finished speaking, Che Huan came out of the restroom, and her phone started vibrating again.

Huo Jinxue could guess it was the same call from the morning.

Che Huan ignored it and sat quietly on the side in the ward.

After about ten minutes, the call would come in again.

After a while, Che Huan bowed her head and sent a text message, ”There’s some traffic on the road, I’m halfway there, just wait a bit longer, it’s not convenient for me to answer the phone, I’ll call you when I arrive.”

Huo Jinxue couldn’t hold back and asked, ”Second sister-in-law, aren’t you going to Julong Bay?”

”Not anymore.”

”...”

And yet you tell them to keep waiting! She suddenly felt that her second sister-in-law was striding further down the path of slyness, becoming more and more like her second brother!

After a while, Zhong Qin went upstairs to rest, Huo Jinbei returned to Nanyuan Villa, Huo Jinxue went upstairs to care for Zhong Qin, leaving only Che Huan and Wen Ru.

After a pause, Che Huan looked at Wen Ru, ”Mom, I received a strange phone call this morning.”

Wen Ru looked at Che Huan, and seeing her serious expression, she hesitated for a few seconds, ”What phone call?”

Che Huan bit her lip, ”He said he wanted to know who your biological father is and to meet at Julong Bay in half an hour.”

As soon as she finished, she stared at Wen Ru motionlessly, could it truly be as Huo Jinyun had said, that she was an illegitimate daughter who couldn’t be brought to light?

Wen Ru looked back at Che Huan and didn’t speak for a long time.

After a while, Wen Ru closed her eyes, ”Huanhuan, do you really want a dad?”

Che Huan said nothing, now she too was unsure! She just remembered when she first found out she was not her stepfather’s biological daughter, being labeled by Old Lady Che as an illicit child who couldn’t be shown in public, that was when she dreamt of having a dad of her own.

She remembered watching ”Journey to the West,” and wrote in her diary: I’ve always believed that my dad is a hero of extraordinary caliber, that one day he would appear amidst a throng of onlookers, clad in the Golden Holy Cloth and riding the Rainbow Auspicious Cloud to find me, to tell those people, I am not an illegitimate child!
