”Fire Control Technique?”

Wei Yang picked up the book and began reading with great interest.

Alchemists constantly deal with flames, so they naturally develop a deep understanding of fire control.

Strictly speaking, fire control techniques can also be considered a type of Dou Technique.

They can be used for alchemy and combat alike.

Of course, high-level fire control techniques are primarily meant for alchemists to refine pills more efficiently.

A good fire control technique allows an alchemist to manipulate flames with greater precision, reducing energy consumption while increasing the success rate of pill refinement.

As for using it in battle? That’s possible, too.

But as esteemed alchemists, they rarely engage in direct combat—that would be beneath them.

Usually, they would simply call for backup.

After all, offering a few pills in exchange for protection is hardly a big deal.

As Wei Yang skimmed through the fire control technique, he quickly realized its value.

It was indeed a remarkable technique—after all, it was created by Pill King Gu He.

Wei Yang gained a fresh perspective, realizing that fire manipulation was a complex art with endless depth.

He couldn’t help but recall his previous experience in the magma world, where the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent had effortlessly demonstrated an impressive fire control technique.

At that time, he had been utterly outclassed.

As someone aspiring to become an alchemist, it was humiliating to be schooled in fire control by a mere beast of the same rank.

This was a lesson he wouldn’t forget anytime soon.

Clicking his tongue, Wei Yang carefully put away the fire control technique for further study in the future.

Next, he sorted through some miscellaneous items.

Among them were three half-human-sized cauldrons. Wei Yang examined them but wasn’t well-versed in their quality.

Since they had been stored in Gu Te’s spatial ring, they were likely decent.

At the very least, they would be sufficient for him and Xian’er to practice alchemy in the early stages.

He tossed a small, dark red cauldron with a refined design to Xian’er, while keeping the remaining two for himself.

Then, there were gold coins, jewels, and other valuables—roughly estimated to be worth around a hundred thousand gold coins. Wei Yang handed all of it to Xian’er for management.

However, he kept a gold card for himself, which displayed a balance of two hundred thousand gold coins.

Not bad. Wei Yang happily stored it away.

Alchemists were indeed wealthy—especially someone like Gu He’s own brother.

Speaking of Pill King Gu He, Wei Yang couldn’t help but sigh at his misfortunes.

As the number one alchemist in the Jia Ma Empire, Gu He was renowned throughout the land.

He was also a Dou Wang expert and a Tier 6 alchemist. Handsome, talented, and powerful—he was truly a genius blessed by the heavens.

Unfortunately, he had the misfortune of crossing paths with Xiao Yan, the son of destiny.

He pursued Yun Yun but failed.

In the end, Xiao Yan took her instead.

To make matters worse, Xiao Yan didn’t even claim her in the end. Talk about frustrating!

And the most ridiculous part?

Gu He ultimately joined the Yan Alliance, making him, in name, Xiao Yan’s subordinate.

What a tragic twist of fate.

...

After reminiscing for a moment, Wei Yang continued organizing his spoils.

The remaining items consisted of various metal ores, empty jade bottles, jade boxes, and other miscellaneous goods.

A quick scan with his soul perception confirmed that there was nothing particularly valuable, so he stored them away without much thought.

For the next half-month, Wei Yang and Xian’er stayed home, diligently studying alchemy through the numerous books and notes they had obtained.

Only after two weeks did Wei Yang finally step outside and visit the Xiao Clan’s market, where he met with one of their managers to purchase a large batch of Tier 1 medicinal herbs.

From that point on, their daily routine consisted of studying and hands-on practice—steadily stepping into the world of alchemy.

With Wei Yang’s strength and soul power, refining Tier 1 pills was naturally not a difficult task.

After a few initial failures due to inexperience, he quickly became proficient.

However, instead of rushing to refine Tier 2 pills, Wei Yang continued refining and studying Tier 1 pills. He focused on understanding the interactions between medicinal herbs, their compatibility, and their counteractive properties.

This was a fundamental learning process, and he couldn’t afford to be careless.

Only by building a solid foundation could he climb higher.

Besides, he was wealthy and had an abundant supply of inexpensive medicinal herbs to practice with.

Xian’er was progressing smoothly as well.

She also experienced a few failures in the beginning, then gradually managed to refine semi-finished medicinal powders. Soon after, she successfully produced pills.

After all, one of them was a Dou Ling with strong soul power, while the other was a Nine-Star Da Dou Shi. Their strength spoke for itself.

They had quality cauldrons and the assistance of a peak Rank 4 Beast Flame.

Moreover, they had prior medical knowledge and weren’t entirely unfamiliar with medicinal theory, so they didn’t need to start from scratch.

Refining Tier 1 pills was just a matter of understanding the pill formulas and medicinal properties—after that, it became a routine task.

Another month passed.

Wei Yang had essentially mastered Tier 1 pills.

He had thoroughly studied every Tier 1 pill formula in his possession, grasped the medicinal principles, and refined each pill at least ten times. He was confident in his solid foundation.

Xian’er was at the same level.

Thus, they began preparing to refine Tier 2 pills.

”Tier 2 pills shouldn’t be too difficult for us. However, acquiring a large supply of Tier 2 medicinal herbs and Magic Cores in Wu Tan City within a short period might not be possible,” Wei Yang said, glancing at the pile of jade bottles on the table.

These were all Tier 1 pills that he and Xian’er had refined during their practice—over a hundred in total, all common Tier 1 pills.

Tier 1 pills weren’t particularly special.

Generally, any pill below Tier 4 was considered relatively common, aside from those with special effects.

Most were used for energy recovery, healing, detoxification, and cultivation assistance.

”Didn’t we already establish a partnership with the Xiao Clan’s market? We bought a large quantity of low-cost medicinal herbs from them before. This time, we can ask them to help us acquire a large amount of Tier 2 herbs and Rank 2 Magic Cores,” Xian’er suggested.

Some Tier 2 and Tier 3 pills required Rank 1 and Rank 2 Magic Cores as supplementary ingredients.

”Tier 2 and Tier 3 medicinal herbs and Magic Cores are considered high-grade items in Wu Tan City. A small amount might be manageable, but acquiring them in bulk on short notice may be difficult for the Xiao Clan,” Wei Yang shook his head.

”Then what about the Mittel Auction House?” Xian’er proposed. ”We can ask them to supply us as well. Given their strength, they should be able to meet our needs.”

She was completely immersed in learning alchemy and felt restless at the thought of pausing her progress.

”That could work. If both the Xiao Clan and the Mittel Auction House supply us, we should be able to get what we need,” Wei Yang nodded. ”After all, we won’t be stuck at the Tier 2 level for long. It’s just a transitional phase for learning and gaining experience.”

”You’ll probably hit your limit at Tier 3 pills since your soul power isn’t outstanding,” Wei Yang said.

Xian’er nodded.

For now, Tier 3 pills would indeed be a bottleneck for her, limited by her soul power. Even after breaking through to Dou Ling, she might not reach the peak of the Tier 3 level anytime soon.

Furthermore, because of her fire poison, she had to divert some of her attention during refinement to control and isolate it, which placed an additional strain on her mind.

This meant that she had to put in more effort than a normal alchemist when refining pills.

That was the price she had to pay.

At least for now, this issue couldn’t be resolved, and it might remain the same in the future.

But she never complained—she was content with what she had.

”As for me, I should be able to reach the Tier 4 level quickly. It shouldn’t be a problem,” Wei Yang analyzed.

Of course, this referred to ordinary Tier 4 pills.

High-level Tier 4 pills like the Three Lines Green Spirit Pill and the Purple Heart Barrier Breaking Pill, which were comparable to Tier 5 pills, were beyond his reach for the time being.
