Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The Initial Awakening of the Poison Body

One year later.

Wei Yang had already reached eight-star Da Dou Shi.

”The time is about right. I can give Xian’er the Poison Scripture now.”

That day, he handed the Rainbow Poison Book to Ye Xian’er.

”Xian’er, this is the Rainbow Poison Book. You can study it,” Wei Yang said.

The now fourteen-year-old Ye Xian’er had grown even more stunning. She extended her delicate hand to take the scripture, flipping through it curiously. ”This is the Rainbow Poison Book you mentioned?”

”Yes, this scripture will be very useful for you. It can help your Woeful Poison Body grow rapidly,” Wei Yang explained.

”I’m going to awaken my Poison Body now?” Ye Xian’er asked, suddenly feeling a little nervous.

”Yes, it’s time.” Wei Yang nodded, pulling her gently into his embrace and comforting her. ”Don’t be afraid. Trust me. There are some plans that require a certain level of strength to support, so I need your help.”

”Mm.” Ye Xian’er nodded, her expression turning resolute.

”Once your Poison Body is activated, your strength will increase at an extremely fast rate. As long as you have enough poison, you won’t face any bottlenecks in cultivation.”

”But you must remember—do not blindly pursue rapid growth. You must restrain yourself and try to suppress your advancement speed. At every stage, you need to properly refine your foundation, familiarize yourself with the power of that realm, and strive for complete control over every ounce of strength you possess.”

Ye Xian’er nodded seriously, taking his words to heart.

”Go ahead.” Wei Yang patted her shoulder.

Ye Xian’er held the Rainbow Poison Book and walked toward her room. When she reached the door, she turned back to look at Wei Yang.

”Don’t worry, I’ll be right outside,” Wei Yang reassured her.

”Mm.” Ye Xian’er’s eyes gleamed with happiness and security as she turned and stepped into the room.

Bang!

The door closed.

Wei Yang stared at the shut door, his gaze filled with both heartache and anticipation.

Currently, Xian’er was at Eighth-stage Dou Zhi Qi, and she had only been cultivating for a little over a year. That speed was already incredibly shocking.

Once her Poison Body awakened, her cultivation speed would become even more terrifying—no, ridiculous.

A Few Days Later

A powerful aura suddenly erupted from Ye Xian’er’s room, but it quickly subsided.

”She already broke through to Dou Zhe?” Wei Yang, who was meditating, immediately opened his eyes, looking toward her room in surprise.

He stood up and quickly walked to her door.

Inside, there was complete silence. Wei Yang didn’t disturb her and chose to wait patiently.

After waiting for a long time with still no movement from inside, he frowned slightly, feeling a little concerned.

After some thought, he gently pushed the door open and walked in.

The moment he stepped into the room, an unusual medicinal fragrance filled his nose, surprising him.

Looking around carefully, he saw faint wisps of grayish-white mist drifting in the air. The color was subtle, but it filled the entire room.

This is poison gas!

Having anticipated this, Wei Yang immediately held his breath while activating the deep crimson Dou Qi in his body. The fiery Dou Qi surged through his body, incinerating any poison that had entered his system.

Moments ago, he had deliberately tested the toxicity and found that while it was quite potent, it wasn’t strong enough to harm him.

After all, although Xian’er had just begun awakening her Woeful Poison Body, her current strength was still relatively low, so her poison wasn’t excessively lethal yet.

”Xian’er has a gentle nature and a kind heart, but her talent in poison refinement is truly outstanding. Judging by the strength of this poison gas, even an average Dou Shi would die if they inhaled it unprepared.”

”And yet... she has only had the Rainbow Poison Book for seven days!”

Even though she had secretly studied poison before, her talent was still astounding.

As expected of the Woeful Poison Body—she was born to play with poison.

Wei Yang walked past the decorative screen and finally saw Ye Xian’er.

She was sitting cross-legged on the ground, dressed in pure white robes, her eyes closed in deep meditation. A dense layer of grayish-white poison mist swirled around her, and her aura was still steadily rising.

Wei Yang estimated that Ye Xian’er was already close to reaching three-star Dou Zhe.

He couldn’t help but frown. This rate of improvement... was simply too fast.

Not long after, a strong suction force erupted from Ye Xian’er’s body, like a bottomless vortex, absorbing all the poison gas in the air into her body.

Her cultivation then stabilized at the peak of three-star Dou Zhe.

Seeing this, Wei Yang couldn’t help but click his tongue. No matter how good one’s talent was, in the face of such an unreasonable special constitution, one could only concede in defeat.

This was enough to rival the so-called god-level bloodlines of the imperial clans.

Ye Xian’er slowly opened her eyes. A flash of grayish-white brilliance flickered within them, but her face had a radiant, glowing luster, making her even more breathtaking.

Wei Yang smiled as he watched her.

Seeing the increasingly mature curves of her figure, he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly—his little cabbage was growing up fast!

”You Need to Leave!”

”Ah!”

Ye Xian’er opened her eyes and saw Wei Yang smiling at her. She was stunned for a moment before her expression turned into one of panic. Her voice trembled as she said, ”Why did you come in? Get out quickly! This place is filled with poison!”

As she spoke, she hurriedly stood up and retreated, her small mouth opening as she desperately tried to suck in all the remaining poison gas lingering in the air.

”Don’t panic,” Wei Yang waved his hand casually. ”I’m an eight-star Da Dou Shi—a little residual poison gas won’t affect me.”

”Really?” Ye Xian’er felt slightly relieved upon hearing that.

”Of course,” Wei Yang chuckled. ”Did you think that just because you’ve awakened your constitution, you’re now invincible?”

”No matter how powerful your Poison Body is, right now, you’re only a three-star Dou Zhe. Your poison might be dangerous to Dou Shi, but for Da Dou Shi, as long as they don’t inhale it in large amounts, it’s not a big deal.”

”Let alone just a bit of residual poison gas in the air.”

Ye Xian’er finally relaxed and let out a breath of relief.

Now that she thought about it, no matter how strong her poison was, her cultivation level was still a limiting factor.

Wei Yang beckoned to her, ”Why are you just standing there? Come here.”

However, Ye Xian’er shook her head and took two steps back. ”No, I just broke through. My aura is still unstable, and the poison in my body hasn’t fully retracted yet.”

Her voice carried a hint of pleading. ”Can you please leave first? Once I fully control my poison, I’ll come find you.”

Wei Yang looked at her with heartache and said softly, ”Your poison won’t hurt me. Don’t be afraid.”

Ye Xian’er still shook her head, her voice choking slightly. ”I don’t want to... I don’t want you to see me like this.”

Wei Yang took two steps forward, his voice becoming even gentler. ”Xian’er.”

Ye Xian’er continued to shake her head, slowly retreating. A trace of sorrow appeared on her face as she bit her lips and whispered, ”The Rainbow Poison Book says that the Woeful Poison Body is a taboo on the continent. It brings disaster to everyone around it!”

”In the future, everyone will fear me, shun me, hate me, and try to kill me! I’ll be like a street rat—everyone will want to get rid of me!”

”You... you won’t be like them, will you?”

”I won’t,” Wei Yang frowned, feeling a bit helpless and frustrated.

He had already prepared her for this, yet she was still reacting so strongly.

Too sensitive.

But then again, before meeting him, Ye Xian’er had a past she didn’t like to talk about.

She was gentle by nature, kind at heart. Her greatest dream had been to become an alchemist, but unfortunately, she lacked the talent for it.

So she settled for second best and aspired to become a healer, hoping to save lives.

But fate had played a cruel joke on her—she was born with an innate poison body. And now that she had awakened it, she had become a Poison Master—someone universally feared and despised.

On the entire Dou Qi Continent, only the Chu Yun Empire in the northwest had a significant number of Poison Masters and an environment where they could survive.

There, Poison Masters could appear in the open without fear.

But in most other places, Poison Masters—who could kill without leaving a trace—were hated, feared, and shunned.

And the Woeful Poison Body? It was even worse. People would want to eliminate it on sight, as if it were a plague.

At this moment, Wei Yang couldn’t help but feel a little regretful.

Regretful that he had let her awaken her Poison Body too soon.

He should have waited another two years.

At the end of the day, Xian’er was still just a fourteen-year-old girl.

She shouldn’t have to face this so soon.
