Dou Qi Continent, Northwestern Region.

Jia Ma Empire, Wu Tan City.

”One-star Dou Zhe!”

In the west of the city, inside a simple room where the lighting was slightly dim.

A handsome young boy, dressed in black and around twelve or thirteen years old, slowly opened his eyes, a flash of brilliance flickering within them.

Hoo~

He let out a slow breath of turbid air.

Wei Yang’s expression seemed somewhat dazed.

In the blink of an eye, six years had passed since he arrived in this world...

He had started cultivating Dou Qi at the age of six, and now, after six years, he had finally broken through to Dou Zhe.

”My talent shouldn’t be any worse than Xiao Yan’s, right? Maybe even slightly better?” Wei Yang thought to himself.

Xiao Yan had started cultivating at the age of four and had broken through to Dou Zhe at around eleven or twelve.

As for himself, he had started cultivating at six and also reached Dou Zhe at about twelve.

From this alone, he was slightly superior to Xiao Yan.

Of course, perhaps their mindsets were different.

After all, Xiao Yan was the son of the Xiao Clan’s patriarch. He had grown up with wealth, comfort, and constant praise, never feeling a true sense of urgency.

Wei Yang, on the other hand, was different. When he arrived in this world, his predecessor’s mercenary parents had already perished in the Magical Beast Mountain Range, leaving him an orphan. Once he realized that this was the Dou Qi Continent,

A sense of crisis, a pressing urgency, had forced him to cultivate relentlessly.

No system. No golden finger.

His only advantage was knowing the storyline and being aware of many fortuitous encounters.

But without strength, even if he knew of opportunities, he could only watch helplessly.

Thus—

For the past six years, he hadn’t dared to slack off even a little.

And finally, today, he had broken through and become a Dou Zhe.

Currently, Xiao Yan was only nine years old, at the eighth stage of Dou Qi, and his reputation as a genius had already spread, making him somewhat well-known.

Wei Yang, in contrast, was very low-key. Almost no one in Wu Tan City knew about him—he was practically invisible.

”Xiao Yan, I’m three years older than you, and I’ve already reached Dou Zhe.”

”By the time you break through to Dou Zhe in three years, I might already be a Dou Shi or higher.”

”And after that, when your Dou Qi vanishes and your realm plummets, you’ll be stuck in stagnation for three years. That back-and-forth will create a six-year gap between us!”

”As fellow transmigrators, my talent as your fellow countryman is certainly no worse than yours. Even if you start cheating and rise up later... this six-year gap won’t be so easy for you to close, hahaha~”

Wei Yang chuckled inwardly.

Of course, he would never admit that he was just feeling sour from envy.

After all, he also wanted to have cheats, but alas, he had none.

”Dou Zhe!”

Wei Yang shook his head, no longer dwelling on such thoughts. Instead, he slowly closed his eyes and let his mind sink into his body.

Inner View.

A skill that could only be mastered after stepping into Dou Zhe. The stronger one became, the more clearly they could perceive the conditions inside their body.

As Wei Yang focused his mind on his lower abdomen, he suddenly saw a palm-sized, milky-white Qi whirlpool slowly rotating.

Surrounding the whirlpool was a layer of nebula-like milky-white energy mist.

As he gazed at the palm-sized Qi whirlpool, an uncontrollable surge of joy filled Wei Yang’s heart—this was the fruit of his six years of relentless effort.

”So this is Dou Qi.”

He could distinctly feel that the energy within was more than ten times stronger than his previous ninth stage Dou Zhi Qi.

The Dou Qi of a Dou Zhe was fundamentally different from the Dou Zhi Qi of the ninth stage.

Before reaching Dou Zhe, the energy absorbed was called Dou Zhi Qi. It mainly served to strengthen the body and lay a foundation.

Only after reaching Dou Zhe did the energy absorbed qualify as true Dou Qi.

Though the difference was just a single character, the disparity between them was as vast as heaven and earth—whether in quality or quantity, they were incomparable.

As Wei Yang continuously controlled his Qi whirlpool, strands of faint red energy from the heavens and earth gathered toward him, refined and absorbed by the whirlpool.

Time passed.

Once he became more proficient in manipulating his Dou Qi whirlpool, Wei Yang finally stopped and withdrew his consciousness.

His eyes opened, and within his pitch-black pupils, a flash of milky-white light appeared before gradually fading away.

”Next, I need to cultivate a suitable cultivation method.”

Wei Yang stood up and slowly stretched his body. His bones emitted a series of crackling sounds, like beans being fried in a hot pan.

Creak~

Pushing open the door, he stepped outside into a simple yet tidy courtyard.

Facing the rising morning sun, Wei Yang stood in the courtyard, silently contemplating his future plans.

After breaking through to Dou Zhe, if he wanted to improve rapidly, he would need to cultivate a technique that suited his attributes.

Cultivation Techniques and Dou Techniques Are Divided into Four Grades: Heaven, Earth, Xuan, and Huang.

Each tier is further divided into three levels: Low, Mid, and High.

Wei Yang’s attribute was fire, with a slight mutation towards the Yang attribute. This had already been tested long ago.

Unfortunately, his attribute did not contain even a trace of the wood attribute.

This was quite frustrating.

As a transmigrator, having a powerful soul due to soul fusion was a given—there was no need to elaborate.

A strong soul made him a promising candidate to become a noble alchemist.

But unfortunately, while he had the fire attribute, he lacked even a trace of wood attribute. Instead, he had a mutated Yang attribute.

What a waste of his powerful soul.

Alchemists were highly sought after!

However, all hope was not lost.

Wei Yang already had some ideas. If things worked out...

After all, attributes could be acquired later through special heavenly treasures or cultivation techniques, allowing one to gain an additional attribute.

Of course, the main attribute could not be changed.

But it was possible to obtain a trace of another attribute.

Just like in the original novel, Xiao Yan cultivated the Earth-Grade Agility Dou Technique Three Thousand Lightning Movement, which contained lightning power. By tempering his body with lightning during thunderstorms, he eventually gained a trace of the lightning attribute.

Green Lotus Core Flame!Ranked nineteenth on the Heavenly Flame Ranking.

This was a flame that contained the wood attribute.

Even without acquiring the Green Lotus Core Flame, just refining and absorbing the eleven lotus seeds that grew alongside it might allow him to gain a trace of the wood attribute.

Whether it would work or not, he would have to try and find out.

Of course, that was still far in the future. First, he needed sufficient strength.

For now, the most important thing was cultivating a cultivation technique.

After a quick wash and a simple meal, Wei Yang returned to his room and sat at his desk.

The desk was stacked with many books:

Basic Knowledge of Medicinal Herbs

Common Herbs and Their Properties

Introduction to Medicine

How to Become an Alchemist

Alchemist Beginner’s Guide

Basic Hemostasis and Healing Formulas

Records of Rare Treasures of Heaven and Earth

These were all foundational books on alchemy that Wei Yang had carefully collected and read every day. Even if he couldn’t become an alchemist in the future, learning more knowledge was never a bad thing.

After all, cultivation was always tied to pills and medicinal herbs. Knowing even a little would always be beneficial.

With his powerful soul, sharp mind, good comprehension, and strong memory, he had no trouble reading these foundational texts. He could easily understand them and memorize them thoroughly.

Wei Yang opened a drawer and took out a light red book.

Huang-Grade High-level Cultivation Technique: Crimson Flame Art.

This was the cultivation technique left behind by his parents.

Wei Yang shook his head helplessly and put the book down.

A Huang-Grade High-level cultivation technique was too low-level.

At best, it could only be cultivated to the peak of Dou Shi. Not only was the cultivation speed slow, but the quality of the Dou Qi produced was also poor.

The Dou Qi cultivated from this technique provided no advantage in combat against opponents of the same level.

But for now, Wei Yang had no choice but to cultivate this Crimson Flame Art. He would replace it with a better technique in the future.

It was best to play it safe for the next two years.

After all, he was only twelve years old right now and had just become a Dou Zhe. If he left Wu Tan City, he would have no guarantee of safety in the outside world.

It was better not to take risks.

”In this life, caution is my only principle.”

With that in mind, Wei Yang picked up the book and flipped through it again. He had already read it countless times—he could recite it backwards without hesitation. But even so, he carefully read through it once more.

Only when he was sure he had missed nothing did he finally stop.

”Let’s begin!”

Wei Yang put the book down, got up, and sat cross-legged on the bed, closing his eyes.

Thats Author Note not mine..thanks

(Author Note: The protagonist is not an enemy of Xiao Yan. They have a friendship and a cooperative relationship, but it’s not about fawning over him—it’s just mutual benefit. After all, knowing that decades later, there will be a crisis where Hun Tiandi sacrifices all living beings, there’s no need for pointless internal conflict. Of course, if some people think that being friendly with Xiao Yan means ”bootlicking,” then so be it—I have nothing to say. New readers, please consider this before continuing.)

(Final note: Everyone has their own opinions and preferences, which is understandable, and I respect that. If you don’t like it, you can just leave without insults, right? There are plenty of other Battle Through the Heavens fanfics out there, even several new ones released at the same time as mine. There are many choices, so there’s no need to dwell on this one. The fact that I’m writing a BTTH fanfic means that I like the original novel. As for Xiao Yan, I wouldn’t say I love him, but I don’t dislike him either. I started reading BTTH at the end of 2012—it was my introduction to web novels. So, deep down, I don’t want to be hostile toward Xiao Yan, and I hope everyone understands. Whenever I write fanfiction, I never make the original protagonist an enemy. This was the case for my previous Swallowed Star fanfic as well. It’s my way of respecting both the story I love and the original work.)
