Chapter 2249: Experimenting While The World At Stake

Tang Shaoyang confirmed his guess about them trying to drain his energy to maintain his transformation and other skills. However, he didn’t lose that much energy considering his regeneration rate and how much he used in the actual battle.

Even if he was about to run out of energy, he could always shift his attribute to Magic Power to generate more energy. Honestly, what they were doing was just a waste of time. While his patience was running out, he was making plans for the next fight.

He used his quickest attack in the first duel, killing his unprepared opponent. The second one was simpler, corrupting his opponent’s energy reservoir and channels before adding a large dose of Dark Poison.

This was what happened when he was given spare time. He told himself to end the duel as quickly as possible, but he was thinking of trying his martial arts against his next opponent. He hesitated for a moment, but he finally made up his mind.

There was something that he wanted to try, and he would use it in the next duel. Maybe their plan was working right now because he ended up trying something new instead of trying to win as quickly as possible.

The time was trickling to three minutes, and he tried it. He opened the sixth, seventh, and ninth gates: the three Heavenly Beast gates. The Heavenly Azure Dragon crashed down from the sky, a screech resounded as the vermilion materialized above him, and the Heavenly White Tiger showed up right behind him with a roar.

With his advancement in the Heavenly Scripture, the image became more real. It looked like he summoned the three heavenly beasts even though they were just mirages. However, the power behind them was real.

Then the three heavenly beasts shrank and glided toward his right arm. The Heavenly Vermilion rested on his upper arm, leaving the crimson mark. Then the Heavenly Azure Dragon also left a mark on his entire right arm, coiling on the surface of the dragon scale. The Heavenly White Tiger rested above his palm, just the mark of its head, glowing in white.

Tang Shaoyang intended to gather them all in his right hand, preparing for his next match. He was not expecting them to leave a mark on his hand at all. That was a surprise discovery as their energy didn’t wane on his arm.

He tried to settle the three different types of energies in his arm, maintaining them until his next opponent came. He didn’t expect them to actually stay on his arm like this in the form of marks. He experimented by feeding the marks with his Chaos Energy, and he could feel the force was growing.

It glowed brighter as he fed more energy into the mark. The marks were wriggling as he fed more energy, as if they were alive. He stopped feeding the marks with his energy when it was thirty seconds away from his third duel to start.

Thirty seconds were up, and his opponent appeared at the same spot where his second opponent melted in acid, black liquid. His third opponent was clearly prepared.

The Bloodline Transformation was on, and he learned his lesson not to use his Elemental Body if he had the skill. His body was covered in crystal-like diamonds. It was transparent that he could see the man’s armor beneath the translucent crystal.

It was weird in a way, but he was not bothered by it. There was nothing impossible with the System, after all. If he could mix the demonic and void energy in his human, a layer of diamond armor was not that weird. It was just weird-looking for him.

The man had two massive horns that grew on the side of his head, curving upward. It looked like a bullhorn, but bigger, with wavy textures. His eyes were glowing red underneath that diamond helmet of his.

Tang Shaoyang had an inkling as to why the Elmsano Empire sent this man first to come up against. He guessed this man might have the absolute defense that might force his hand to use some of his other abilities. But to him, Nazario Vadim might be the right opponent to test out his newly discovered power of heavenly beast marks.

The moment the system announced the start of the duel, Tang Shaoyang’s figure blurred into a mirage, transparent, and slowly faded into the background. That happened quickly, which caused Nazario Vadim to panic slightly.

Not because Tang Shaoyang disappeared before his eyes, but because he could no longer sense his presence. It was like his opponent had left the battlefield. It was almost impossible to escape from his senses; even someone stronger than him could not escape from his sharp senses, yet his opponent just disappeared without a trace.

He wished the System would announce his win, meaning his opponent had given up. However, there was no announcement, meaning the fight was still going on. Slightly in panic, Nazario tried to look around.

It was a grass field, literally with no obstacles, no places to hide. He thought Tang Shaoyang went underground, sending his senses underground, but to no avail until the strong presence was back, and it was right behind him.

Tang Shaoyang’s figure slowly came into sight from his ethereal form. His presence would be erased while he was in the ethereal form; even during the materialization process, his presence could not be detected with just the senses, but they could see him materialized. It just remained undetected by the sensing skill or ability required to sense energy, as his energy could not be detected in the ethereal form.

The moment Nazario turned around, Tang Shaoyang’s fist was flying toward his chest. There was no time to react, yet he had confidence in his unbreakable body.

The three marks burst forth, coming to life. The three Heavenly Beasts revolved around Tang Shaoyang’s right arm as their image became clear again.

Nazario Vadim’s eyes widened because he was facing three pairs of terrifying eyes, gazing toward him. He had seen the beast mirages from the waiting room, but he thought it was merely a mirage, yet the one in front of him was clearly alive.

He could feel the warm breathing and a totally different pressure than the one Tang Shaoyang exuded. The roar mixed with screech boomed in his ears. He didn’t know that roar had a stun effect, but he was frozen.

Tang Shaoyang used Heavenly Crushing Strike and imbued the mark into the technique. What he wanted to try was to combine the three Heavenly Beasts in a single attack. The mark was a welcome surprise for him.

The three different types of energy were in harmony, creating something stronger. His fist was no longer dark-gold, but a combination of his dark-gold Chaos Energy, the crimson flame of the Heavenly Vermilion, the white of the Heavenly White Tiger, and the azure of the Heavenly Azure Dragon. It didn’t produce a new color as they just coexisted together. It was not actually a fusion of energy, just four types of different energies working in harmony. The color kept changing from crimson, white, azure, and dark-golden.

His fist hit Nazario Vadim’s diamond chest. It produced a sonic boom, which was followed by a massive shock wave.

Nazario’s body went still for like two seconds before his body bent backward as the diamond body broke into pieces. His body flung backward like a rocket, bouncing up and down as it hit the ground. It was an open field with no obstacles; nothing could be used to stop the momentum. It kept going, reaching the end of the battlefield, which was a void.

Tang Shaoyang saw the void at the edge. His Chaos Eyes could not pick up the barrier, but he was confident there was a barrier to prevent them from falling. He was wrong about it because he saw through his Chaos Eyes that Nazario’s went through the edge and plunged into the void.

[Tang Shaoyang (Tang Empire) won the third duel!]

The winning display appeared above as Nazario’s body disappeared into the void.

Tang Shaoyang was in a daze as a notification appeared before his eyes. It was asking whether he wanted to continue the fight or surrender. He was still in disbelief that the System didn’t put a barrier. It meant the system regarded the void as part of the arena. Something that a participant could use to win the duel.

He shook his head and pressed [Continue Fight]. It was barely a fight as it seemed he was overestimating his enemy. If the Elmsano Empire tried to lower his guard by delaying the duel and sending the weak player against him. That tactic might work, as he started to think these people were much weaker than he thought, a little bit underestimating his next opponent.

[4th Duel: Tang Shaoyang (Tang Empire) Vs Timur Florea (Elmsano Empire)]

Tang Shaoyang ignored the announcement because he knew that he would have to wait for another five minutes before the next duel. He glanced at his right arm. The mark was still there, but it didn’t contain the same power since he used them all.

He honestly hoped to test these marks, but he sent his enemy to the void in a single punch. No chance of him testing his newly discovered ability.

”What if I put the marks on my left hand as well?”

Unfortunately, it didn’t work that way when he opened the three gates simultaneously. The mark disappeared from his right hand. Nevertheless, it was still a good discovery as he already thought of several ways to use it. He could put the Heavenly Tortoise on his body, as that might provide another defense for him.

”Can I put the mark on my weapon?”
