Chapter 2247: A Quick Kill

Tang Shaoyang received a notification that the fight would commence after confirming the notification. It gave him two choices: [Ready] and [Not Ready]. If he didn’t pick within five minutes, he would be teleported to the duel arena.

There was no rule in the duel. They would still have access to their inventory, poison was allowed, and summons were also allowed. External Artifact or one-use Artifact was also allowed to be used. There was no restriction or honor to adhere to.

Tang Shaoyang took out his Azure Dragon Blade and pressed [Ready]. He thought he would have a few seconds to say goodbye, but the System just teleported him out of the waiting room.

He was standing in the grass field, by himself. His Chaos Eyes quickly expanded, finding out the arena was around two kilometers, and it was an open field. There was not a single tree; just green grass covered the whole field.

There was no one but him in this place right now. It seemed his opponent hadn’t accepted the matchmaking yet, maybe needed some preparation. While there were no regulations for the duel, there was still a basic rule applied. For the first match, they were not allowed to use their skill before the duel started.

They start with no one using skill, meaning they could not activate bloodline transformation before the duel. They must activate the skill during the duel. Just for the first duel. They were allowed to use their skill before the duel in the following duel.

A minute passed, and Marko Lozan hadn’t shown up. There were four minutes left until his opponent would be teleported here automatically.

”Is this their strategy to annoy me before the duel?” Tang Shaoyang muttered.

It might be their strategy to annoy, in the hope of dulling his judgement. He was not annoyed, but just bored. If he knew they would play like this, he would stay in the waiting room until the five-minute mark was up.

As he predicted, his opponent was automatically teleported by the System into this place. A man with pitch-black-plated armor was standing thirty meters away from him. The man was holding a broadsword around forty centimeters wide and over two meters long.

The sword was black coated like the armor, but the edge glinted in sharpness. Without a doubt, the sword was a God Rank sword. The God Realm didn’t lack God Rank equipment, rare but not that rare. One could get it as long as they had the money or a connection.

As soon as Marko Lozan appeared, a big display with the number ten appeared between the two. It went down to nine, then eight...

It seemed the System was the one who ran out of patience as it quickly started the countdown for the duel.

Tang Shaoyang’s right hand reached the sword’s handle, his left hand was holding the sheath as he bent down slightly. It was his usual move to start a duel, the Heavenly Sword - Heavenly Revoke.

Marko Lozan was ready with his broadsword as well, in stance, prepared for whatever would come after him.

3... 2... 1... Start!

The first skill he used was the Wrath of Slayer, quickly doubling his attributes within less than one second. In the following second, he adjusted his attributes, using [Attribute Shift]. He put half of his Vitality and Stamina into Strength and Agility.

At the same time, he opened the Ninth Heavenly Gate - Heavenly Azure Dragon! The moment the azure dragon image materialized behind him. He pulled his sword out as an azure-black-gold colored blinding light burst out from the sword.

His figure blurred as the deafening dragon roar resounded. In the fourth second after the duel started, Tang Shaoyang’s figure was found in front of his opponent with his sword drawn out. He quickly sheathed his sword as he clicked his tongue.

”It’s quite disappointing to fall for such a trick...” He muttered, turning his back to his opponent, who remained standing still.

As he walked back, Marko Lozan’s head slid down as blood spurted out from the headless body. Not long after the head touched the ground, the body also fell.

Marko Lozan was attempting to use his Bloodline Transformation, but it took too long. That was how Tang Shaoyang won his first, and the reason why he prohibited the children from watching the duel, including his daughters.

As he made his way back to his original spot, Tang Shaoyang activated his Bloodline Transformation. At the same time, he used Spirit Integration with Zara, the Goddess of Death.

Two pairs of massive dragon wings popped out on his back. A pair was right below his shoulder, and another pair was slightly above his waist. Then, ten pairs of Zara’s black feather wings also came out; ten pairs of her wings actually formed behind him.

It was smaller than the dragon wing, but matched its length. A pair formed above the upper dragon wing, another pair grew below the lower dragon wing, and three pairs formed between the two pairs of dragon wings.

A pair of horns grew on his forehead, and the horns were branching, curving backward and sideways. His hair turned white, grew longer, reaching his back. The black dragon scales covered his whole body, from neck down to his feet. The scales were like armor, which explained why Tang Shaoyang didn’t wear armor in the first place.

His right eye lost its white, while his left eye had lost the white a long time ago. The crimson dragon pupil thickened; his aura was no longer contained. The transformation finished by the time he returned to his original spot, waiting for his next opponent.

The Tang Empire’s Capital and all cities burst into cheers after a few seconds of silence. They were shocked for a moment by how their Emperor decapitated his opponent’s head. But that quickly turned into cheer. This was their Emperor’s show of power, not just to their enemy but to the other factions.

The small and medium factions breathed out in relief, knowing they were in the right hands. The first duel convinced them that they would win the fight. While many received the result of the first duel with cheers, some didn’t accept it well.

In particular, the Major Factions. Herman Bonivido and the other upper echelons from the United Sovereign gathered in a hall and watched the duel from there.

Tang Shaoyang won his first duel; they should be happy, but the atmosphere was gloomy. They expected the opponent to give a challenge to Tang Shaoyang, hoping to see them push Tang Shaoyang. Yet the opponent was killed in a single move.

Then they witnessed Tang Shaoyang’s bloodline transformation. There was limited information about the transformation as they only witnessed it a few times. Yet they realized the transformation was totally different than what they originally knew.

They could not sense the aura, but they got the feeling of how powerful Tang Shaoyang might be just from the broadcast. That was what caused such an atmosphere. It was a reality check for them that the gap between them and Tang Shaoyang was widening. Even if they had reached the God Rank, there was still a long way for them to catch up.

It was not just the United Sovereign, but the North Federation, the Mecaya Kingdom, the Whitney Kingdom, and the Kingdom of Napoles that were in a similar atmosphere.
