Chapter 2226: A Taste of My Fire

Tian Zhong and the other Grandmasters also wanted to know why Tang Shaoyang suddenly attacked the hidden family. They were not told the reason why.

Tang Shaoyang didn’t respond as he crossed the bridge. By this time, Bao Xue and Shizi followed Xiyue into the castle. He didn’t worry about them. Even if they were killed, they would return to him. The Sacred Realm didn’t have the weapon to kill the spirit.

He arrived in front of the main gate and was greeted by more than a hundred cultivators. If he had to make up a number, maybe around one hundred and forty people, and they were all True God Realm. The highest rank was the peak True God Realm, five of them. The rest were Stage-8 True God Realm and below.

They were all wearing the same black robe with phoenixes engraved on it. They had their hoods pulled up, covering their faces. A few of them pulled off their hoods, revealing their faces. There was one thing they had in common: their hair, red. All of them had the same color.

“Why did you attack the Feng Family, Outsider!?” The Peak True God Realm questioned Tang Shaoyang, “I don’t remember we have a grudge or conflict!?”

“You don’t have a grudge against me, but don’t you remember her?” Tang Shaoyang pointed at the phoenix above the castle. There was a defensive formation that protected the castle.

Xiyue was having a hard time breaking the barrier. For the people who relied on Phoenix’s power, it made sense for them to have a counter against their own technique. That was when Shizi slammed into the barrier, causing the city to vibrate.

That caused panic among the people on top of the wall, not expecting the barrier to waver. They created the formation to defend against the fire of the phoenix. A formation they created after a weird phoenix attacked them. However, they also focused on the general defense.

The barrier didn’t break or crack, but they could sense that the barrier would be breached eventually if the three-headed lion kept hitting it.

“There’s no need to panic! Grand Elders and Patriarchs are defending our castle. Those insolent beasts will not survive!” The second peak, True God Realm, reminded his subordinates.

The five peak True God Realms recognized Xiyue, the variant phoenix that attacked them a long time ago. The barrier was created because of that phoenix, after all. They managed to wound the phoenix, but failed to catch it. They thought the phoenix was dead with the heavy wounds it suffered, yet it returned with more beasts now.

“So you are helping that phoenix?”

“Not helping, more like contractual work.” Tang Shaoyang already had his sword out, and the Wrath of Slayer was active, which boosted his attributes further.

He was prepared for the inevitable clash, not underestimating the enemy even though he sensed they were weaker than him.

“I would say it was a foolish choice. You are a fool to defy the Feng Family, and you are about to perish because of a stray phoenix!”

Tang Shaoyang let out a yawn, “Does the Feng Family fight with their mouth? I will fall asleep if you keep yapping instead of attacking me.”

“You are indeed foolish. I am just buying time to step up our formation! Execute them!”

The Feng Family’s cultivators rose into the air as a formation started to form in the sky. The Feng Family’s cultivators released their energy, the signature of the Feng Family’s energy, red-crimson. Their energy connected in the air, forming an intricate formation with the five peak True God Realm as the center.

The formation glowed brighter as red-crimson fire burst forth and started to form a creature, a phoenix. It was thirty meters long with an even longer wingspan. With the phoenix’s appearance, the temperature rose dramatically as the form covered the sky. A screech resounded, releasing a massive pressure with it.

Bai Jinwei, Duanmu Liang Yi, and Sikong Tan Kai paled at the sight of the phoenix. It was not a real phoenix, but a formation that was created with phoenix as the base. It might not be far off from an actual phoenix itself. It hurt their pride to admit, but the current them had no way to fend off this formation.

Tian Zhong looked pensive, but he was not worried. It was a strong formation, but that was not enough to kill him. He took a glance at Overseer Tang Shaoyang. His tense shoulder loosened when he saw how calm Tang Shaoyang was.

‘I don’t need to step in.’ He thought to himself.

The phoenix came alive and immediately descended toward the group. The wing blazed fiercely as it screeched louder.

In the following second, a black shell formed above Tang Shaoyang. The shell was around thirty meters long and fifteen meters wide, completely covering the people below.

The Grandmasters looked up, surprised by how fast the shell formed. They didn’t even see a movement from Tang Shaoyang. They trusted the shell as the phoenix hit the shell.

The phoenix burst out into red-crimson flame. Cloud-like fire formed above the shell, spreading out in all directions in waves. The raging fire tried to melt the shell. It got more and more intense. It stayed that way until the fire dispersed and calmed down. The shell didn’t just block the fire, but it also blocked the temperature.

“Since you have shown your fire, I will show you mine.”

Tang Shaoyang lowered his stance, bending his body forward slightly with his right hand on the sword. A different screech resounded, stronger and carried authority that caused the Feng Family’s cultivators to flinch.

While it was directed to the Feng Family’s cultivators, the four grandmasters were affected by the pressure as well. It was minimal, but that was enough shock for them to quickly create a distance from Tang Shaoyang.

Especially when they saw darkish-crimson flame burst forth from Tang Shaoyang’s back, forming the renowned Heavenly Vermilion. Heavenly Vermilion was one of the famed Heavenly Beasts, and the four grandmasters, as well as the Feng Family, recognized it in a single glance.

Especially for the Feng Family, they were familiar with the family who worshiped the Vermilion, one of their rivals in fire arts, the Zhu Family. Just like them, the Zhu Family was also a hidden family, and they were even more reclusive. People barely knew them as they remained in their secret realm.

“You are from the Zhu Family!?” The peak True God Realm misunderstood the situation, thinking the one who attacked them was coming from the Zhu Family.

“The Feng Family truly fights with their mouth, huh? You are still blabbering even to your enemy right in front of you.”

Tang Shaoyang pulled out his sword, and the same fire burst out of the sheath as Tang Shaoyang slashed toward the Feng Family’s cultivators in the air. A slash made of dark crimson fire shot toward the sky.

“Get down!”

Sensing the danger from the sword, the peak True God Realm yelled out. However, more than forty people failed to react, getting their bodies split as the fire blazed on the part where they were cut.

The slash went to the sky and hit the ceiling of the secret realm, cutting through the artificial sky. The sky was split, revealing the void beyond. It looked daunting with the void, but the fire at the gap made it look like a great landscape. A line of fire across the sky with a void in between.
