Chapter 2222: Contract Broken

Xiyue seemed to forget the location of the hidden family that killed her family. Tang Shaoyang sent her out to look for the location while he stayed behind. He checked the progress on the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

The Cladeos Emporium seamlessly integrated with the Thousand Vows Pavilion. They worked together with Yang Bo and set up their main branch right below the floating island.

With the Cladeos Emporium’s help, a city was built under the floating city, surrounding the magma pit that was sealed with transparent ice. The pit actually became an attraction, a sight to behold, and the Cladeos Emporium, together with the Yang Clan, controlled the building around the pit by themselves.

Yang Bo received an instruction from Tang Shaoyang to assist the Cladeos Emporium. A merchant partner to the Tang Empire, he learned later that Overseer Tang Shaoyang was the Emperor of the Tang Empire that existed in another world.

At first, he agreed to assist the Cladeos Emporium under Tang Shaoyang’s request, but then he started doing it earnestly. This would help him with the Administrative experience that would help him with the Thousand Vows Pavilion. That was how the city was quickly built on the island.

The Cladeos Emporium was glad to share the profit. Getting help from a native of the Sacred Realm quickly helped them gain a foothold in the Sacred Realm. They managed to gather the Sacred Realm’s specialty, sell it outside, and then sell their product in the Sacred Realm.

That was how Yang Bo got the funds to sustain the Thousand Vows Pavilion. The shared profit with the Cladeos Emporium made him at ease with the finances. The Thousand Vows Pavilion also collected taxes from the businesses opened in their city, something he hadn’t thought of before.

The idea of collecting money from merchants as a sect didn’t cross his mind before. It wasn’t until the people from the Cladeos Emporium told him the idea.

Originally, the sect usually received a tribute from the merchants from their territory. There was no fixed tribute, as it depended on the merchant group how much they wanted to give. Almost similar to tax, but tax had a fixed percentage.

The Cladeos Emporium eased him about the finances of the Thousand Vows Pavilion. Another pressing issue would be taken care of by Overseer Tang Shaoyang today.

Yang Bo left his training room with a refreshed mood and mind, thinking he didn’t need to worry about the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s security anymore if the True Sword Pavilion and the Origin Sword Pavilion actively participated in fighting for the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

His daughter greeted him in the morning, reporting that everything was ready. It was about meeting with the Overseer. Today was supposed to be the day each pavilion chose a technique of their choice from the Grandmaster Codex.

He told his daughter to prepare for the ceremony, but with the True Sword Pavilion and the Origin Sword Pavilion’s situation. He told his daughter to do it moderately for the ceremony.

“Overseer Tang Shaoyang told me just to prepare a room so they could meet face to face. He doesn’t want a formal ceremony or anything like that.”

“I see…” Yang Bo could not say anything, but he was not giving up because he wanted to turn this handout technique into an event for the Thousand Vows Pavilion. He would prepare everything thoroughly for next year.

Yang Bo and his daughter intended to pick up Tang Shaoyang, but he was already in the designated meeting place. He was accompanied by the two Grandmasters from the Ice Pavilion, Bing Lianxin and Bing Ruohan.

The two were cold toward him, but they didn’t ignore his request. He wanted to speak about the Ice Pavilion with Tang Shaoyang, but he decided not to. It was not wise to move against three pavilions at once.

Bing Lianxin and Ruohan were in a discussion while holding the floating mythical codex.

He quickly told his daughter to bring breakfast for Tang Shaoyang. One thing he learned about Tang Shaoyang, the Overseer, was that he had a fondness for food. So he had prepared the best tea and food for today.

The Bai Pavilion was the second to arrive after the Ice Pavilion. Bai Jinwei was in a discussion with his brother about what kind of technique they wanted. It looked like a normal gathering, and Yang Bo wanted to turn this into a sacred event for the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

The other pavilions’ representatives started to arrive, and surprisingly, more than ten people were coming from the Origin Sword Pavilion. They were the last ones to arrive, and when they arrived, the atmosphere suddenly changed for no reason.

As an observer, Yang Bo tried to pick what was wrong with the situation. It looked normal, a little bit louder from the Origin Sword Pavilion.

The Ice Pavilion had chosen and received the technique they wanted. The Bai Pavilion has also finished picking their choice. Currently, they are waiting for the Wind Blade Pavilion, which was formerly known as the Duanmu Family.

There was something wrong with the atmosphere, and it took a while for Yang Bo to feel what was wrong. First, Overseer Tang Shaoyang hadn’t brought up the topic about the True Sword Pavilion and the Origin Sword Pavilion about their neglect of duty as members of the Thousand Vows Pavilion. Second, he noticed that Overseer Tang Shaoyang had his eyes on the Origin Sword Pavilion ever since they arrived.

While Overseer Tang Shaoyang maintained calm composure, he didn’t show any killing intent. He could tell that something was going on.

Two hours passed as the Blazing Pavilion finally picked and bestowed the technique they wanted. After bestowing the technique, instead of giving the Grandmaster Codex to the True Sword Pavilion. Overseer Tang Shaoyang took the Grandmaster Codex as it disappeared from everyone’s sight.

“The True Sword Pavilion and the Origin Sword Pavilion neglected their duty as members of the Thousand Vows Pavilion. As a punishment, first, the two pavilions don’t get to pick a technique from the codex. Second, the True Sword Pavilion and the Origin Sword Pavilion must recruit at least two hundred disciples, and a quarter of them must reach the True God Realm in one year.”

A man from the Origin Sword Pavilion was about to cut Tang Shaoyang, but he glared at the man and released the aura. He didn’t even hold back since he didn’t bring his wives and daughters this time.

Yang Bo and his daughter immediately knelt, which was quickly followed by the others.

“If the True Sword Pavilion and the Origin Sword Pavilion still fail to do their duty, the two pavilions would be dissolved and could only leave after carrying out a hundred years of service protecting the Thousand Vows Pavilion as payment for the technique they have learned from the Grandmaster Codex!”

“If the two pavilions could not fulfill the second punishment, then they can’t learn any technique from the codex until the punishment is served!”

The True Sword Pavilion and the Origin Sword Pavilion didn’t recruit a single disciple into their pavilion aside from. The other four pavilions were actively recruiting people because of the attack on their border, realizing they must increase their number if they wanted to protect the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

However, the True Sword Pavilion and Origin Sword Pavilion didn’t do so. The reason was simple: they didn’t want anyone but their own people to learn their technique.

They came here to perfect their technique, not to share it with anybody. They didn’t have a sense of belonging to the Thousand Vows Pavilion yet.

Tang Shaoyang could understand that, but he thought time would change them. Of course, he was gravely mistaken about it. There was nothing he could do about disciple recruiting, but they didn’t even do their job. That gave him a justification to add the second punishment.

He added the condition that a quarter must have reached the True God Realm, so they didn’t neglect the newly recruited disciples.

Tang Shaoyang then retracted his aura; only then could the people in the room breathe. The people from the Origin Sword Pavilion could not accept this. It could be seen from their expression, but the matter was not over yet.

“Enter!”

At the moment, someone entered the room. Everyone recognized her, the one who held the Divine Oath for them, Selena. She stood behind him, having a solemn look instead of her kind smile.

“This is not over yet!”

Tang Shaoyang extended his hand toward Selena, and she took out a scroll that had turned blood-red. It was a contract scroll, and when it turned blood-red, it meant the person who signed the contract broke the contract.

“I expected someone would betray, but I am surprised how you can bypass the Divine Oath. Do you have a way to cancel the Divine Oath?”

The moment a betrayal was mentioned, the room fell into a deep silence as the atmosphere tensed up. The oath they took a year ago mentioned that they would be struck by Divine Lightning until they died if they were to betray the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

Tang Shaoyang opened the scroll and read the name, “Nangong Huang!”
