Armed Train in the Apocalypse

As the train conductor left, the barbecue came to a complete end.

He Jie dragged the unconscious Qu Hang back to his own compartment, while Professor Ma and the others dispersed.

Lin Xi walked barefoot on the carpet in the dining car aisle, her silver hair glinting under the night light, hugging a fluffy down pillow with a faint pine scent of train disinfectant on the pillowcase.

Yu Yue was bending over to organize the condiment jar in the dining cabinet, her waistline outlining a gentle curve.

Suddenly feeling her hem being gently tugged, she turned around and met a pair of light gray eyes. Lin Xi looked up, the tips of her ears peeking through her hair tinged pink, like a young cat bringing a gift.

”This is for you.” Lin Xi stuffed the pillow into her arms, the creased pillowcase still bearing the warmth of body heat.

Her fingertips stealthily hooked onto Yu Yue’s apron tie, lashes casting an anxious shadow below her eyes, ”You said... a bedtime story.”

Yu Yue laughed softly at the pillow thrust upon her.

Lin Xi was very much like Xiaojing when she was young, though Xiaojing at this age no longer depended on her.

She really liked this little girl, obedient and endearing.

But...

Yu Yue instinctively glanced at Compartment 1, feeling a bit hesitant inside.

”Not today?”

Lin Xi asked, a bit disappointed.

Thinking of the girl who could only live for four years, Yu Yue felt a pang of compassion, gently stroking her soft silver hair, ”I’ll come and tell you a story after Auntie finishes her work, okay?”

The girl turned her head, softly calling, ”Brother.”

Lin Jin, who was cleaning up the grill, came running over excitedly, ”What’s up, Xiaoxi?”

”I want to sleep with Aunt Yu.”

”Huh?”

Lin Jin awkwardly looked at Yu Yue.

”Aunt Yu agreed, but she has a lot of work to do...”

”Ah, no problem, you just go rest, I’ll take care of the dining car cleanup.”

Lin Jin patted his chest and agreed immediately.

Yu Yue felt a bit strange, but since it had come to this, she could only wipe her hands and apologize, ”Sorry to trouble you.”

”I should be the one thanking you.”

Lin Jin scratched his head and laughed heartily.

Yu Yue, holding the girl’s hand, led her to her room, seeing the darkness inside, she knew Xiaojing must have been working all night again, feeling a quiet relief in her heart.

She felt a strange sense of guilt, like she was bringing home another daughter behind her daughter’s back.

Lin Xi went inside, found her bed perfectly without even opening her mouth.

”Aunt Yu’s bed is so soft.”

Lin Xi smoothed the pillow onto the spacious bed, lifted the covers, and curled into the bed, leaving only half of her face visible.

As the train rolled over the tracks, she shrank toward the wall, leaving a space just wide enough for a gentle sister to lie down.

Yu Yue tidied up a bit, changed into pajamas, and lay down.

From the bed came the sound of soft whispers, one large and one small.

...

Outside, the acid rain had stopped at some point.

Listening to Lin Xi’s breathing gradually become rhythmic and long, Yu Yue gently tucked in the corners of the quilt.

The moonlight seeped through the window crevices, casting a frosty hue on Lin Xi’s silver hair. As Yu Yue brushed her fingertips across Lin Xi’s slightly furrowed brow, the unease melted away like snow.

As the clock on the bedside ticked to 1:47, Yu Yue quietly slipped out of bed.

Looking at the girl on the bed, Yu Yue hesitated for a moment, but eventually tightened her coat and headed toward the compartment junction.

The train swayed, seemingly rounding a large curved bend.

Just as she disappeared behind the door of Compartment 1.

The girl on the bed suddenly opened her eyes, looking dazed, and followed the direction Yu Yue went.

...

Originally, Su Huan planned to discuss some plans, but seeing everyone’s good spirits, he didn’t say much, only explaining the next route to Liang Kuan.

The Steel Council Headquarters is in the lower left corner of Qingchuan Province, near the southwest.

Exiting the industrial area, the train headed north.

And Guangren City’s Wangjiang Peak is directly north of Qingchuan, in the upper middle part of the entire province.

However, Su Huan did not intend to go directly there.

In the central part of Qingchuan Province, many survivors and large companies have successively established settlements and cities, which should now be a survivor camp and small exchange black market.

The train’s renovation still needs many materials, so he planned to take a look there first.

So, they needed to first make a detour to the east.

Pass through the black market and then head north to Wangjiang Peak.

Sorting out his thoughts, under the slight influence of alcohol, the train conductor gradually felt drowsy.

In the state between waking and sleeping, he suddenly felt the mattress silently sink.

A soft, pine-scented body suddenly snuggled into his arm, and he reflexively wanted to embrace it.

”Hmm?”

The action of turning over suddenly stiffened.

The mattress sank again!

Su Huan’s groggy mind stalled for a moment.

An overwhelming amount of information, inducing a mental crash.

A slightly cool body was sneaking in from the foot of the bed.

The long hair brushed against his calf, carrying the dampness of night dew, and a soft, tofu-like body accurately curled into his other arm.

Yu Jing?

Yu Yue?!

Su Huan’s narrow eyes opened wide, bewilderment in his gaze.

Instinctively, he touched the one who entered first on the left side.

The familiar feel of a cotton nightdress, the contour beneath his palm like melted butter, heaving with breath between his fingers.

Yu Yue sleepily snuggled into his shoulder, the fresh smell of her shampoo lingering in her hair, unconsciously clutching Su Huan’s shirt, her knee pressing on his thigh. Because she wasn’t using her powers around him, she didn’t notice there was another person in bed.

But Su Huan was now completely awake.

No problem on the left side.

It’s definitely Yu Yue.

Then what about the right side?!

Instinctively exploring... hiss!

No way!

Definitely not Yu Jing, she had no reason to appear on his bed with Yu Yue simultaneously.

He knew her, Yu Jing was the more robust and slender type, her body was longer.

This thin yet smooth sensation...

Could it be the little sprout?!

As the train traversed a junction, Su Huan clearly felt two distinctly different temperatures.

In the faint moonlight, he glanced downward, and the silver glint left him utterly astonished.

The girl slept quietly and serenely, like a cat retracting its paws.

The two thin straps of her camisole slipped off, her skin gleamed with a pearly luminance under the moonlight, and his eyes darkened.

What is this girl here for?

Just because I saved her life, she offers herself like this?

Ridiculous.

As if he’s storybook material.

Su Huan frowned, feeling like something happened on the train that he wasn’t aware of.

This loss of complete control made him uneasy.

Next to him, Yu Yue sensed that today the train conductor was particularly well-behaved. Slightly puzzled, she gently smoothed his brow in a vague, soothing manner.

Seeing he made no moves, her sleepiness overwhelmed her, her eyelids gradually drooped, finally giving in, falling into a deep sleep.
