Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The time was approaching dusk, and the rain was getting heavier, even affecting the accuracy of the bullets.

But no one cared about this, including the soldiers firing the bullets.

They had been attacking that beast-like steel train for half an hour without any effect.

The steel train continued forward at a slow and steady pace, breaking through two defensive lines with this sluggish speed.

Several anti-aircraft guns had been destroyed by Iron Rain and metal manipulators aboard the train, rendering the remaining firearms powerless against the heavy armor.

Even the commander of the third defensive line had no hope for this battle.

A group of board members had been arguing in Li Wangchuan’s office for half an hour.

Chairman Wang, who was watching the battle, had also lost his initial interest, feeling nauseated from drinking too much coffee.

Li Tao stood behind the third defensive line, dressed in a raincoat, pacing among a pile of engineering vehicles to ease his tension and anxiety.

Most people were waiting, but didn’t know for what.

Very few were stalling, but didn’t understand why the other side was stalling as well.

Until an off-road vehicle capable of jumping into the sniper position stormed into the battlefield, tearing through the rain with a cold blue light, instantly changing the entire atmosphere; even the lowest-ranking Servant Soldiers realized the battlefield had transformed.

Layers of soldiers from the outer defensive line surrounded the off-road vehicle.

”Boom——”

Before they could get close, a terrifying electric current burst out from the off-road vehicle like a lightning blossom in the rain, instantly covering a battlefield over a hundred meters in diameter. The cold blue arc spread along the rain, striking the ground, then flickering madly in the water.

In an instant, countless arcs danced across the sky and earth, forming a forbidden zone of lightning.

Soldiers who stepped into this area trembled violently, as the insulation provided by their raincoats was almost useless.

Seated in the back, Lin Jin gritted his teeth, and a trail of fire slithered from his hand.

It passed through the car window, gliding around the off-road vehicle, completing its circuit to form a majestic fire ring that swept outward with intensity.

The rising heat wave scorched the acid rain, steam surged up, shrouding the entire area in mist.

The blazing flames did not cease but grew in size.

Soldiers caught by the flames were like they had been doused in gasoline, rolling on the ground was futile. Their firearms melted into pools of molten metal, their charred bodies sizzling in the water as the flames intensified, catching up with the spreading electricity and blending together.

In that moment, lightning and fire surged, bright as a pyrotechnic display.

The acid rain was intercepted mid-air, and the somber sky was illuminated by this instant of fireworks.

In a hundred-meter radius, four squads were wiped out by the wave, except for five quick-reacting evolvers.

This rampant lightning and fire drew everyone’s attention.

Lingering around, Li Tao suddenly felt they might not need to wait for the train to break through the third line of defense. Before he could confirm, a tall figure had already flashed in front of him, the turbulent air lifting the rain.

Li Tao glanced at the high heels on the woman’s feet, her steps making his eyelids twitch.

”It’s confirmed to be Su Huan, the armed train conductor. You can also commence your operations here.”

From four or five meters away, the woman’s crisp voice cut through the noise, clearly reaching Li Tao’s ears.

Without her constitution, Li Tao just nodded silently.

”Clack clack—”

The steel beast, which had long been poised to start, switched on its searchlights.

The gloomy evening was instantly illuminated as bright as day, the engine roaring, drowning out the distant rain of bullets.

The engineering vehicles crossed the defensive lines, reaching the side of the tracks.

The rail traction vehicle was already set on the tracks.

This time there was no reliance on explosives to overturn the train; before the train even arrived, the Steel Council had commanded the soldiers to dismantle the entire hundred-meter section of track, including nearby fences, billboards, utility poles, and anything potentially containing metal.

The gravel and sleepers on the ground had long been cleared, turning into a five-meter-deep rectangular pit.

Li Tao sat in one of the command vehicles behind the engineering vehicles, his eyes fierce.

’Su Huan, this time I must bury your train completely!’

...

”Boom!”

The off-road vehicle landed with a roar in the train’s garage.

Although they encountered a bit of trouble on the way, under the no-nonsense five-kilometer sniper rifle of the conductor, those two reckless snipers had been sent to their graves.

What made the conductor even more envious was Lin Jin’s terrifying combat talent.

He wielded his abilities like instinct, almost without thinking, to manifest the most appropriate changes.

This was beyond the reach of ordinary evolvers.

Even someone like He Jie, a Tier One Evolver, needed considerable combat experience to use abilities aptly and correctly.

Like Su Huan, his seamless switch between Thunder Spear and Thunder Web accounted for years of use in his past life.

Even before reaching Tier One, he could already heat up to fireball slinging.

After four years of usage, he had made these abilities instinctive, his abilities were like his hands, his limbs, something he could deploy without thinking.

This is why he is confident in dealing with Xiaoba.

Xiaoba’s ability has high potential, but the current usage method is still too rough.

But Lin Jin was different.

Lin Jin’s usage level was nearly on par with his.

Truly enviable and damnable talent!

Kicking open the car door, Su Huan looked up to see Yu Yue’s graceful figure, her face lightly joyful, peering from the corridor like a sparrow ready to steal food.
