Armed Train in the Apocalypse

There’s no need to worry about the train’s ammunition issue in the short term.

The evolutionary resources don’t need to be explained nonsensically; he can estimate their full value at a glance.

With this batch of Pan-energy Crystals and gene agents as a foundation, the previously small-scale points system can now be expanded dramatically. Now that Xiaoba and other core members have reached Tier One, he doesn’t need to suppress the passengers; the armed train has fully entered the evolutionary era.

Despite the haste of this battle, it unexpectedly led to the recruitment of many talents from the Steel Council.

Apart from the combat personnel led by He Jie, Qu Hang, and Mountain Goat, there are also twenty-one researchers that Director Xu arranged to board in advance.

The survivors rescued by Xiaoba are also of high quality, with various experts among them.

This includes over thirty professional soldiers.

All these people can be incorporated into the crew.

Perhaps the crew’s ranking should be subdivided...

Various thoughts flashed rapidly through his mind.

As the train leader, he not only has to think about combat but also how to utilize rules, personnel, and resources to create new momentum, guiding the train in the direction he envisions.

This isn’t something that becomes easier just because of evolution. Now, his mind is sharper than before, but this means he thinks of more details, and the process of constructing thoughts is more complex.

If Li Tao were alive, he might be well-suited for this role.

Su Huan suddenly thought.

However, it was just a fleeting regret. Even if Xiaoba didn’t kill him, he wouldn’t feel comfortable using him.

The vice-leader position is too critical.

It can’t be given to a fool, nor to someone too smart, and certainly not to an insidious traitor.

Yu Jing is just temporarily in this position. Lately, she’s complained to Su Huan several times because she can’t focus on researching evolutionary abilities and mechanics.

But he’s also a bit conflicted about the specific division of ranks.

Should he learn from the Steel Council, emphasizing the individual evolver, or should he emphasize the evolver team?

The advantage of the former is obvious; a core can quickly form combat power. The latter requires consideration of team composition, balance, and constraints. If there’s combat attrition, as long as the core isn’t compromised, the former can quickly recover, while the latter can easily face gaps.

But for Su Huan and the armed train, the former is difficult to control.

No matter that these people initially follow the armed train.

If Su Huan entrusted Mountain Goat to He Jie’s command, in a few years, would these people be more accustomed to listening to Su Huan or He Jie?

The Steel Council has numbers and power, and various talents overlap. They only need to control top talents like ”He Jie” and ”Lin Jin.” Others, like that medic, Mountain Goat, and even other soldiers, are replaceable expendables.

But Su Huan can’t do that; the space on the armed train is limited to bearable personnel.

Including Mountain Goat, Qu Hang, even Huang Sea and his assistant Xiaowang.

Everyone plays a critical role.

Simply throwing them out and handing over the initiative to each captain makes no difference.

Mulling over this, Su Huan roughly had an idea.

The rear carriage still needs to cultivate captains like Lu Xiao for external military deterrence. As long as Lu Xiao is intact, there’s no worry over the attrition of ordinary members.

The crew needs a more detailed grading process.

’Tier Three? Tier Five?’

Su Huan pondered, five tiers seemed better, giving them more motivation.

Above the Level 5 Crew is a purser, a role such as nonsense, managing the group members, perfect as an assistant to core members.

Having just figured out this grading system, Su Huan noticed a report below.

The report’s content is about Yu Jing using her authority to designate carriages 9 and 10, as well as the second floor, into the newly-formed ”Manufacturing Group.”

’Finally caught her little tail.’ Su Huan pinched his chin with interest.

Hu Shu glanced at the train leader’s expression, skimming the page to understand the situation.

The pile of papers Su Huan had included many resource usage applications, but only the ”Manufacturing Group” acted before reporting.

Logically, this violates the rules.

But the train leader sets the ultimate rule on the train. As long as he doesn’t speak up, whatever Yu Jing does is reasonable.

Su Huan flipped through a few more pages: Yu Jing mainly appropriated a batch of resources, then gathered the crew’s makers in carriages 9 and 10 for new material development.

She had ideas similar to his; he just needed to refine based on this.

After a moment of pondering, he said, ”Later, you will tally all crew evolvers’ abilities and divide them into ’Manufacturing Group,’ ’Combat Group,’ ’Research Group,’ and ’Logistics Group.’ Wang He’s workers group is included in the Logistics Group, with each worker rewarded with a Pan-energy Crystal.”

”The ones who initially disassembled and installed the water purifier will evolve, and Wang He will receive five more Tier One Pan-energy Crystals.”

”Logistics mostly involves repairing vehicles, guns, cooking, forging… You get my point, don’t you?”

Su Huan lifted his eyelids.

The latter replied respectfully, ”Following your idea, I should be in the Logistics Group as well.”

Su Huan nodded approvingly, ”You will be the purser of the Logistics Group.”

”Then those unsuitable for research will be assigned accordingly: those who can fight to the Combat Group, those who cannot to the Manufacturing Group, but primarily ’Makers’ and ’Collectors’ are responsible for train production and manufacturing, don’t stuff a bunch of ’Defenders’ in there for me.”

”Understood.”

Shaking the papers in hand, the train leader, slightly impatient, said, ”What else is there, give me a simple rundown, focus on the important.”

Hu Shu aligned his thoughts and said quickly.

”Director Xu applied to continue research on evolutionary abilities, Professor Ma requested to expand the research lab area… Reorganizing the order of the armed train carriages, classifying storage of living supplies, evolutionary resources, and weaponry ammunition, also group leader Yu Jing asked whether to speed up production, accelerate the second stage train modification plan, or focus on improving current train issues?”

”The points system trial is successful, should the reward points of several captains be exchanged, and should the points exchange system be open to the entire train?”

Su Huan twitched the corner of his mouth, ”And what’s unimportant?”

”That would require discussing specific equipment and personnel…”

”Forget it, better not say then.”

Su Huan interrupted, already having a headache.

The aforementioned problems are not ones that can be immediately resolved; Director Xu, although nominally subdued, doesn’t just work like Qu Hang does with combat; Su Huan hasn’t had time to learn about his research content and naturally can’t let him proceed rashly.

Then, the lab expansion proposal from Professor Ma is also troublesome.

Frankly, although the train has ten new carriages, there are no surplus empty carriages now.

It’s only after the second-level renovation; that is, after the second stage train modification.

The points system is even more complex, requiring a thorough study of recent data to spot any loopholes before considering implementation.

The only resolvable issue now is the reward issue for several captains.

Lu Xiao spent tremendous resources to kill an elite soldier, Jiang Rong drove him out of the corpse tide, and those two clumsy undercover from Deep Blue Data need rewarding.

Upon hearing this, Lu Xiao nearby pricked up his ears.

He’s waiting for his points to pay medical bills.

”Distribute as planned,” Su Huan waved his hand.

Suddenly remembering something, he continued, ”Captain Lu’s pickup is impressive, add 500 more bullets as compensation.”

Hu Shu noted it down, then tentatively asked, ”And the remaining issues…”

Su Huan squinted his eyes, surveying the carriage, finally settling on Yu Yue, who’s secretly eating his freeze-dried strawberries.

She noticed his scrutinizing gaze, confusion flashing in her almond eyes, and she looked down at the bitten tip of the strawberry, reflexively handing it over.

Su Huan disdainfully shot her a glance, ”The remaining issues will be handed over to Yu Yue, for her to select and present to me.”
