Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Apart from talent, various supporting basic industries are also required.

In a short time, armed trains have nothing to do with research.

Looking at the evolutionary beasts surging ahead, Su Huan instantly made a decision, ”You two, get on the train first!”

He turned and ran to the back of the carriage.

Casually condensing a lightning whip, he grabbed a Tier One Night Demon from the nearby building and chopped off its head with one slash.

With the inertia, he hurled the long knife, which was wrapped around the Thunder Serpent, piercing a bloodhound attempting to ambush twenty meters away against the concrete wall, the residual electric current scorching the corpse with crackling sounds.

Tearing open the carriage, he quickly found the pan-energy monitoring device.

He carried the device back to the carriage, casually summoned, and the solidified current brought back the long knife from the wall.

The troop carrier rushed out fiercely.

Leaving behind a mess.

In the wreckage, Zhang Min felt her consciousness growing increasingly blurred, the massive blood loss giving her a gradual sense of slipping into sleep.

’Am I... abandoned again?’

In her peripheral vision, a nimble shadow flickered by.

Just when she thought a zombie was coming to gnaw on her corpse, she realized it was a woman.

Dressed in tactical gear, carrying a sniper rifle, her eyes slight with a gentle demeanor like a neighborly sister.

She remembered this person, back when she got on the train, it was this woman washing dishes.

At that time, she foolishly thought she would replace her.

Before Zhang Min could react, a cold liquid was poured into her mouth.

The liquid turning into a scorching warmth as it entered her stomach, driving away the cold, and her numbed limbs regained feeling.

Seeing signs of her improvement, Yu Yue moved some of the wreckage pressing on her body aside.

With a wrist turn, she drew a pistol from her waist, accurately picking off several evolutionary beasts surging in, each bullet seemingly having eyes, penetrating the weakest spots of their skulls.

”Why did you save me?”

Zhang Min’s eyes revealed deep confusion.

Putting the gun in the holster, Yu Yue softly replied, ”You made him very happy.”

A completely unexpected answer.

Until Yu Yue disappeared by her side, Zhang Min had not returned to her senses.

”Am I living... simply to make him happy?”

”Why is it, why is everything good yours?”

”Heh heh”

The zombies’ roars mixed with a morbid low laughter echoed in this area.

...

Upon boarding the carriage, Su Huan directly blacked out.

The ”Fighting Master” abilities collapsed two at once.

In others’ eyes, his eyes turned completely blood-red, indistinguishable from the zombies outside.

Looking at Su Huan’s gaze, Director Xu felt a chill on his scalp, ”Are you about to mutate?!”

Su Huan felt an excruciating pain as if his whole body was splitting apart, gritting his teeth, ”Gene serum.”

Director Xu hesitated for a moment, hastily opened the briefcase, took out a gene serum, and explained, ”To tell you in advance, using the gene serum means there’s no turning back, you can only have a lifespan of three to five years, and there’s not much maintenance serum, only enough for you... two to use for one year.”

”Heh... three to five years, and there’s such a good thing?”

The serum was a syringe-like design, opening the needle, he stabbed it fiercely into the heart’s location.

The energy-storing heart suddenly throbbed, and everyone in the train felt their breath catch, as if the nutrients in the air were squeezed out all at once by something.

The icy liquid injected into the heart, Su Huan could no longer hold on and fainted on the train.

Beside him, Director Xu glanced at the driving Jiang Rong, sighed softly, leaned against the carriage, resigned to fate.

Looking at the unconscious Su Huan, Lin Xi moved forward, persistently using her sleeve to wipe the blood from Su Huan’s mouth corner, mumbling softly.

”Liar.”

Handling the pan-energy monitoring device took some time.

Even with the escort of Yu Yue and Liang Kuan all the way, the two vehicles were gradually surrounded by zombies, and from a high altitude, the trapezoidal headquarters of the Steel Council only had organized resistance in the northeast direction.

Precisely the family area of the Steel Council.

He Jie held two heavy machine guns, standing on a pickup truck, firing at the chaotic zombies and evolutionary beasts in the family area, shouting loudly.

”Han Qin!”

The howl penetrated the chaotic cries of the family area.

Attracting the side glances of those fleeing in panic.

A hundred meters away, a woman stained with blood on her face suddenly turned her head.

”Old He?!”

Han Qin’s voice cracked.

Dragging her eight-year-old son, her fifteen-year-old daughter followed behind.

Five or six neighbors hearing He Jie’s shout exploded, ”It’s Captain He! He’s actually still alive!”

”Quick, lean towards Captain He, he’s a Tier One Evolver!”

Due to confidentiality, most people thought He Jie was merely missing, not knowing he had already betrayed the Steel Council.

He Jie, hearing the response, felt his eyes burn.

”Bang!”

The pickup truck knocked down the zombies chasing several people, and He Jie on the truck jumped down, rushing into the crowd, muscular arms gathering his wife and daughter, the smell of smoke mixed with blood rushing into his nostrils.

”Dad...”

The daughter buried her face in his neck, warm tears soaked through the combat uniform.

He Jie holding a gun, ”Get in the truck, sit in the front!”

Han Qin quickly took the two children on board.

There were already two people in the car, a young woman sitting in the back, the driver was an ordinary soldier from the Steel Council, though also an Evolver, he was merely slightly stronger than an ordinary person as his main skill had just been activated.

The pair was a couple He Jie had roped in temporarily to drive.

The crowd, like startled lemmings, flooded towards the pickup.

He Jie roared, ”Women and children can sit in the front, the rest of you get in the back!”

Several men quickly put their wives and daughters up, then stood in the truck bed at the back.

He Jie, retreating under cover, was suddenly grabbed by his tactical vest, Han Qin unexpectedly returned, stuffing a warm object into his hand.

”Take it!” she turned around, her wide eyes reflecting the muzzle fire, ”If you leave me and the kids one step further, we’ll divorce!”

He Jie looked down, in his palm lay a peace knot woven by his daughter.

He grinned, reversed and smashed the sneaky zombie with a gunstock, raised his gun, and roared at the two off-road vehicles and the soldiers bursting out ahead, ”Anyone who recognizes my face, get down and follow my command!”

A total of twelve armed soldiers, though not as elite as former subordinates, were also professionally trained elites, highly coordinated.

With the survivors’ integration, He Jie’s firepower became considerably more abundant, but the pressure also grew greater.

More zombies and evolutionary beasts focused their targets on this group.

...

At the northern end of the heavy industrial area, the freight station.

A heavily armored train stained with blood, covered with pockmarked bullet holes and acid rain corrosion marks, had been stopped for ten minutes.

Well beyond the planned forty minutes.

In the dining car, Xiaoba’s tone was calm yet firm, ”Su needs our help.”

The anxious Lin Jin got up, ”I’m going too!”

Lao San was stunned, looked at the row of soldiers squatting on the ground, and at Li Tao tied on the stretcher, ”Then what about them?”

Xiaoba, turning the wheelchair, came before Li Tao and seriously said, ”Su said you’re very dangerous and very important, so he asked me to watch you.”

Li Tao’s eyes carried a hint of gloom, looking at the metal manipulator causing him great trouble, he sneered, ”He insanely stirred a million zombies to devour humanity, and now he’s in it himself, it can only be said to be retribution.”

Xiaoba pursed his lips, slowly replied, ”I don’t agree with this method either, but I won’t persuade him. He never stops me from saving people, and I shouldn’t stop him from killing people. He does what he has to, I’ll do what I have to.”

Li Tao was silent for a moment.

Surprisingly, he greatly agreed with this point of view, though it came from a twelve-year-old boy.

”Then what are you going to do now?”

”Sorry.”

A sharp pain suddenly emanated from the heart, Li Tao raised his head in disbelief, looking at the youth’s earnest eyes before him, and opened his mouth, yet failed to make a sound.

”I want to save Su, so I can only kill you.”
