Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Li Wangchuan walked forward on his own, and the surrounding board members, pressured, cleared the way.

They had no reason to stop Li Wangchuan from going to the battlefield.

As he said, it’s not time to seal the coffin yet.

Who knows if he has a backup plan?

Watching the backs of Li Wangchuan and his nephew, the expressions of the many board members represented by Chairman Zhang were uncertain.

Especially Chairman Zhang, others were only worried about the New City Project failing.

But he had more concerns than that.

Worried about both failure and success.

The best outcome would be for the New City Project to barely succeed, but because of the heavy losses, Li Wangchuan would be stripped of his executive powers by the board. That was his ideal scenario.

”We should go directly to President Wang…”

Someone suddenly said this in the crowd, and Chairman Zhang’s eyes lit up.

The reason why the Steel Council has turned into a situation where Li Wangchuan has the final say is because he has secured the support of Chairman Wang. If they could persuade Chairman Wang, they could also counterbalance him.

Understanding this, Chairman Zhang hurriedly ran out.

A group of board members also gradually followed him out.

Only two people remained in the room.

One was Li Tao’s father, and the other was a board member inclined towards the Li Family, wearing a sharp suit, but with gray temples obviously not from the same generation as Li Wangchuan.

The old man sighed lightly, ”Wangchuan is being impulsive this time.”

Father Li smiled awkwardly; although he didn’t entirely agree with Li Wangchuan’s actions, once a decision was made, it represented the entire Li Family. No matter how dissatisfied he was internally, he couldn’t voice opposition.

”After all, the outcome hasn’t been determined yet…”

”Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, no matter how sturdy or attractive that basket may be.”

The old man said meaningfully.

Leaving Father Li standing there in contemplation.

...

On the helicopter, without those board members, Li Tao worriedly asked, ”Uncle, aren’t you afraid they’ll go to Chairman Wang?”

Li Wangchuan sat comfortably in the middle, looking at the scenery outside the helicopter, crossed his legs and said calmly, ”This is an era of heroes, an era of carrying through one’s personal will. Don’t pay attention to the thoughts of those mediocre people. In three or five years, you’ll see, they’ll be nothing but a handful of dirt.”

His words were heroic, stirring Li Tao’s emotions.

If anyone else had said these words, Li Tao would have thought they were insane, but this person was his uncle whom he had admired since childhood.

So it was truth!

With his mind cleared, Li Tao felt much more lucid, ”By the way, He Jie betrayed us, should we bring his family over?”

”Have someone watch them, there’s no time to wait for them, let’s go.”

”Alright, let’s go.”

Li Tao said to the helicopter pilot.

The helicopter took off, and the armed security personnel on the ground quickly boarded vehicles, following the helicopter toward the New City.

Meanwhile, a group of board members arrived outside President Wang’s office to find it empty.

The entire office was left with only two assistant secretaries handling affairs.

Chairman Zhang asked unwillingly, ”Do you know where Chairman Wang went?”

The assistant secretary responded with a smile, ”Chairman Wang’s itinerary is confidential, but he left a message.”

”What was it?”

The anxious crowd hurriedly asked.

”Rather than sitting in the office, it’s better to go see what changes are happening in the world with your own eyes.”

Everyone was stunned.

At this moment, a buzzing sound suddenly came from the rooftop.

Chairman Zhang quickly went to the window and saw Chairman Wang’s personal helicopter had already taken off, flying away.

”Look in that direction… seems like it’s heading towards the New City!”

Ten minutes later, one by one, the board members’ convoys started departing from the headquarters, heading straight for the New City.

...

The movements of the board represented the attitude of the entire Steel Council.

When these dozen or so people headed to the New City, accompanying Evolver bodyguards and armed forces were all gathering there.

The entire power structure entered a state of full-scale war, all production activities revolved around the theme of ”victory in war”, the Steel Council at this moment was like a boiling pot, with various professionals each fulfilling their roles, war supplies being continuously sent to the front line.

The dispatching capability of a major force was displayed vividly.

And among the first group deployed in the ”New City” was Lin Jin.

Not sure what happened, but suddenly this morning, the intensity ramped up. The company assembled a large number of Servant Soldiers to assist elite soldiers in tackling a few key difficult points, not hesitating on ammunition consumption.

They fought for most of the day, making his ears a bit numb from the noise.

The Servant Soldiers he was with died wave after wave. If not for his lucky evolution that day into an Evolver, he too would have become cannon fodder, pushed to the front line.

Now he has become a formal employee of the company, forming a squad with other regular soldiers.

These soldiers also arrived today, replacing the role of the original Servant Soldiers, but their professional skills and weaponry were far superior.

And their demeanor made Lin Jin feel very familiar, just like the regular army before the apocalypse.

Due to the lack of heavy firepower, their main task was to cooperate with the elite Evolver soldiers to suppress the zombie horde with firepower.

Then at noon, a new order suddenly came for them to withdraw from the combat zone and reorganize the defense line. Even the areas they had painstakingly captured were handed back over.

Lin Jin couldn’t understand what the company leadership was up to.

The new captain mentioned that it seemed like some bigwig was coming.

Lin Jin didn’t understand why a bigwig would want to come to the front line, but it had nothing to do with him.

Even if they withdrew, those zombies wouldn’t disappear. They still howled and attacked the defense line from all directions, delivering fatal blows to the exhausted soldiers.

Lin Jin and his team’s task was to maneuver around a few unclaimed critical areas to hunt high-echelon zombies.

He suspected it also served to attract zombie attention.

The rain was getting heavy, Lin Jin tightened his newly issued raincoat.

This was a benefit of becoming a formal employee.

When he received the raincoat, he found there were many raincoats in the company’s temporary warehouse, at least thousands, just piled there untouched.

No wonder those Servant Soldiers had a hard time finding a raincoat in the vast county.

Lin Jin mused while using controlled flames to dry the moisture inside his raincoat.

Initially, he would scorch his clothes, but after a few uses, he could manage the flames with ease.

He could even make them burn ”invisibly and colorlessly”.

Level 1 ”Flame Control”, Level 1 ”High-Temperature Barrier”, Level 1 ”Fire Seed”.

He had a total of three skills, not sure if this was normal, and didn’t dare to tell the captain, fearing his abilities might be too mediocre and lead to him being expelled from the team.

But he found these skills quite useful.

They helped him avoid many crises and survive in the chaotic county till now.

”Come over here!”

The captain in front found a place to shelter from the rain, observed around for a moment, and said in a low voice.

Including Lin Jin, the four of them immediately moved forward.
