Alchemy Master

Chapter 480, Purified Indeed

Translator: Silavin

Refined five times!

It should be known that the refinement of the Iron Heart Fruit was far more difficult than ordinary medicinal herbs. Generally, those who received recommendation quotas could pass the test with three refinements, which was already quite remarkable. Perhaps, among hundreds of people, there were only a few who could achieve four refinements!

Yet Duan Zihai had not even used up the time of one incense stick before he had refined it five times! This level of skill was already comparable to some of the Instructors in the Alchemy Manor!

At such a young age, to have such achievements was already quite dazzling.

“Worthy of being the talent from the Duan Family. Elder Duan, it seems like he will soon surpass his predecessors!” The middle-aged invigilator did not miss any opportunity to flatter, smiling at Duan Quan.

“You exaggerate…” Duan Quan nodded with satisfaction, his old face breaking into a smile like a blooming chrysanthemum.

Duan Zihai indeed had not disappointed him. When he took the test back then, he had only achieved four and a half refinements!

Duan Zihai proudly removed the Iron Heart Fruit, but upon seeing Qin Yichen’s calm expression, his previously joyful heart suddenly felt as uncomfortable as if he had eaten a pile of dung. [This damned brat! Why isn’t he moved by my great achievement!?]

“Hey, kid, it’s your turn now!” Duan Zihai called out discontentedly, clearly wanting to see Qin Yichen make a fool of himself.

“Qin Yichen, how many refinements did you achieve?” Tian Liang could not help but ask. If he had not reached three refinements, they could just leave to avoid further mockery…

Honestly, he was not very confident.

“I’ve purified it.” Qin Yichen blinked, saying with an innocent face.

“Purified it?”

“Haha!…”

*Pfft…*

Hearing these words, Duan Quan and the others could not help but burst into laughter.

In the time of one incense stick, purified the Iron Heart Fruit?

What a joke!

“Hahaha… This guy, did he only refine once? Haha, no wonder he said he purified it…” Duan Zihai pointed at Qin Yichen exaggeratedly, laughing so hard that tears emerged from the corners of his eyes.

To refine once, and unable to sense the impurities within, yet claiming it was purified. If this was not the greatest joke in the world, he did not know what was!

*Sigh…* Not just them, even Tian Liang could not help but sigh. Perhaps the youth before him had good Martial Arts Cultivation, but on the Dao of Alchemy, he was probably just still a novice.

Just as Tian Liang was about to call Qin Yichen to leave, Qin Yichen walked towards the instrument and placed the refined Iron Heart Fruit on it.

“Truly ignorant!” Seeing his actions, Duan Quan snorted coldly.

Soon, the reading on the instrument changed.

“As expected, he only refined once…” Duan Zihai was about to mock, but the reading on the instrument changed again.

“Huh?” Tian Liang was startled.

The mockery on the faces of Duan Quan, Duan Zihai, and that middle-aged invigilator froze.

Being able to refine three times was a result that could not be considered poor. After all, Qin Yichen’s reported age was only eighteen!

He was not yet twenty. So, having this achievement was already not inferior to Duan Zihai!

However, just as they thought the value would stabilise, the number on the instrument changed again.

Immediately, the expressions of the three changed once more.

“Haha, well done!” After a moment of shock, Tian Liang laughed loudly, a gleam of light shooting from his originally cloudy eyes. [There is still hope!]

“Hmph, you were just lucky!” Duan Zihai snorted coldly in dissatisfaction, but his pupils suddenly dilated at what happened next.

Even Duan Quan and that middle-aged invigilator could no longer remain calm.

*Siiii…* Everyone simultaneously drew in a sharp breath.

Seven refinements!

This was already the highest record at the Ten Corner Alchemy Manor! Moreover, that person was hailed as a talent seen once in a thousand years! They never imagined Qin Yichen could refine seven times!

How old was Qin Yichen…

Thinking of this, they were shocked in their hearts.

However, things had not ended yet…

Finally, on the testing instrument, a crimson ‘10’ slowly appeared!

“This…” Looking at that crimson ‘10’, Duan Zihai felt as if his face had been slapped hard, staring at the surface of the crystal ball in a daze.

At this moment, the expressions of Duan Quan, Tian Liang, and that invigilator weren’t any better, all wearing stunned expressions, their eyes gazing blankly at the surface of the crystal ball.

[Ten! He actually got a ten!?]

This meant that the Iron Heart Fruit had been completely purified by Qin Yichen in the short time of one incense stick!

Tian Liang also looked at the still calm and composed Qin Yichen with shock.

At this moment, he finally understood the meaning of Qin Yichen’s words.

He had truly ‘purified’ it!

Tian Liang also felt his cheeks burning.

He had thought the other was a novice, but in reality, he was the frog at the bottom of the well.

At this time, Tian Liang slowly recalled Qin Yichen’s demeanour from the beginning.

He was always calm, never flustered.

The reason he took more time was not because he was weak, but because he was truly completely refining the Iron Heart Fruit!

To purify the Iron Heart Fruit in such a short time, Tian Liang admitted, even at his peak, he would not be able to achieve this.

But Qin Yichen had done it!

“Impossible! This is absolutely impossible!” Just as everyone was shocked by Qin Yichen’s ability, a sharp voice rang out.

It was Duan Zihai.

After everyone’s gaze focused on him, he continued, “How could someone like him possibly refine the whole Iron Heart Fruit in one incense stick of time!? This is ridiculous! He must have cheated!”

Although he was targeting Qin Yichen, what he said had some truth to it.

That was an Iron Heart Fruit. How could it possibly be refined in such a short period of time!?

As for cheating? It was not impossible.

“Kid, although I don’t know what tricks you used, daring to cheat in our Alchemy Manor’s assessment is equivalent to challenging our Alchemy Manor’s dignity!” Duan Quan seemed to have reacted, stepping out to severely reprimand Qin Yichen.

*Pfft* Qin Yichen merely chuckled lightly, saying calmly, “Old man, are your eyes blind?”

Indeed, throughout the entire process, everyone had witnessed it, and there was no issue. If there was anything different… It was that the Alchemy Technique Qin Yichen used was one they had never seen before.

Even if someone was helping Qin Yichen, within the entire Ten Corner Alchemy Manor, an Alchemy Grandmaster who could purify the Iron Heart Fruit in such a short time could be counted on one’s hand.

But would such a great figure really help the youth before them to cheat!? What more, to get this absurd score when just three was enough to pass?

This was obviously impossible as well.
