Alchemy Master

Chapter 456, Setting Up

Translator: Silavin

As everyone discussed the temptation of an Earth Grade Martial Technique and a Core Disciple position, Gongshu Zhiyi appeared quite interested, asking various questions.

Faced with a sweet-looking, lively little girl asking questions, the group of mercenaries practically competed to answer her inquiries. In just a moment’s time, the matter of Qin Yichen killing Qiu Jizhuo that day had been recounted several times in the tavern’s restaurant, each with a different version.

Listening to those exaggerated tales, Qin Yichen’s face darkened. [What nonsense! I did not kill him with a wave of my hand, or single-handedly repelling more than ten Martial Kings…]

“Wow, that person is amazing!” Despite these exaggerated rumours, Gongshu Zhiyi listened with shining eyes, visibly excited. It was as if she had been there herself, waving her hand to kill a Mid Stage Martial King.

“Shh, little girl, keep your voice down. What if the disciples from the North Depths Sect hear you and mistake you for his accomplice!?”

At the table next to Qin Yichen, a mercenary quickly warned.

“Accomplice? How could that be? My companions are right here. Do they look like people who killed that Qiu whatever?”

Hearing this well-intentioned warning, Gongshu Zhiyi waved her hand casually, pointing toward Qin Yichen and Lu Xiaoguan.

[You!!!!!!] At this moment, Qin Yichen finally understood what it meant to have a burden with him.

Following Gongshu Zhiyi’s finger, when they saw Qin Yichen, the mercenaries at that table narrowed their eyes.

“He does look quite similar to the young man on the wanted poster…” After scrutinising for a moment, one mercenary could not help but mutter. Although this voice was faint, most mercenaries in the tavern were Spirit Realm experts, so this suspicion was clearly heard by them.

*Swoosh!*

*Swoosh!*

In the next instant, dozens of gazes suddenly shot toward Qin Yichen.

“Uh…” Qin Yichen’s hand holding the teacup suddenly froze. He stood up and smiled lightly. “You don’t think I’m him, do you?”

No one in the tavern responded, but their eyes were filled with vigilance. If he truly was the one who killed Qiu Jizhuo, their first reaction would not be excitement but fear!

He was someone capable of killing a Mid Stage Martial King. How could they, mere Spirit Realm mercenaries, possibly capture him?

“Haha, Brother Yichen, they actually suspect you!” Seeing this scene, Gongshu Zhiyi found it amusing and could not help but laugh.

“I don’t have that ability… gentlemen, please don’t overthink it.” Qin Yichen shrugged. He gave Gongshu Zhiyi and Lu Xiaoguan, an eye signal, left some money for the drinks, and walked outside.

“He couldn’t possibly be the young man who killed Qiu Jizhuo, right?”

“Don’t know, but his appearance is extremely similar to the portrait on the wanted posters…”

“There are plenty of people in this world who look alike. Don’t be ridiculous; we wouldn’t have such good luck to encounter him.”

Watching this young man, who showed no nervousness despite being watched by dozens of eyes, made everyone secretly begin to doubt.

They could not help but wonder if they had mistaken the person. After all, under the North Depths Sect’s web-like search, that young man had still vanished like smoke for more than two months. How could they find him so easily?

Despite their doubts, many people in the tavern thoughtfully watched the direction Qin Yichen left, then quickly departed from the tavern themselves.

“Brother Yichen, this place isn’t fun. Take me somewhere more interesting!” After leaving the tavern, Gongshu Zhiyi pouted, her lips turned up high. She had been full of joy when they arrived, but in their first city, they were harassed by some oblivious people. Just as she started conversing with others, Qin Yichen had forcibly pulled her away.

“Zhiyi. We are not out here to play.” Qin Yichen shook his head, his expression somewhat grave.

Bringing Gongshu Zhiyi and Lu Xiaoguan out was originally meant to explore this region and observe if there were traces of the Foreign Race, but before they could begin taking action, they were already targeted by the enormous entity that was the North Depths Sect.

Although the Patriarchs trusted them enough to let them venture out, meaning Lu Xiaoguan and Gongshu Zhiyi surely had some life-saving methods, it was not hard to guess that these methods must be related to Puppets.

He did not want to reveal anything related to the Lu Ban Sect so early. Without adequate preparation, rashly using Techniques related to the Dao of Crafting would not only cause a sensation but also incite the greedy desires of countless envious people!

Seeing Qin Yichen’s grave expression, Gongshu Zhiyi stuck out her tongue and stopped being mischievous.

“Boss, you’re not really the person they mentioned, the one who killed that Sect’s Core Disciple, right?” Walking out of the city gate, Lu Xiaoguan frowned and suddenly asked.

“Damn it…” Qin Yichen’s mouth twitched, and he quickly looked around. Only after confirming no one had heard Lu Xiaoguan’s words did he secretly sigh in relief.

Seeing Qin Yichen’s actions, Lu Xiaoguan roughly had an answer. When the latter nodded in confirmation, black lines were drawn on his forehead.

[What exactly is Father thinking? This is clearly no different from pushing me into a fire pit!]

From the previous discussions, it was not hard to see that the Sect Qin Yichen had offended held a significant position in this region.

Although he was not afraid of this, Qin Yichen was now a person wanted by an entire Sect. Being by his side was like standing next to a bomb. No one knew when danger might suddenly descend!

Although Lu Xiaoguan was confident, he did not believe that as a mere Early Stage Martial King, he could withstand various sneak attacks.

As for Puppets, he was tactful enough not to count them in, because once those Puppets comparable to Martial Kings appeared, the trouble they would bring would far exceed what they currently faced.

“What? That person they were talking about earlier is actually you?”

Gongshu Zhiyi’s eyes widened in disbelief. No wonder Qin Yichen’s expression had been extremely peculiar while she was happily chatting earlier.

Could it be that he was not jealous but was concerned because of her almost idiotic topics?

“Let’s hope they didn’t recognise you…”

Lu Xiaoguan took a deep breath. He was now a grasshopper tied to the same rope as Qin Yichen; at this point, he could only hope for this.

“I think some people recognised me.”

Qin Yichen shook his head. Although his behaviour earlier had not shown any abnormality, and his final departure had not displayed any nervousness, with so many people who had seen a portrait of him, plus his act of leaving being a sign of guilt, this news would likely reach the North Depths Sect’s ears soon enough.

Silavin: Honestly, very dumb that he did not inform them of this beforehand. What’s the point of keeping it a secret? What more, you are walking around without a mask or anything concealing your face while you are being hunted? So dumb. The next chapter addresses this – maybe because of readers commented – but honestly, why not just take the precaution in the first place?
