Yandere Stream

An uneasy quiet settled over Apartment 7B.

For several minutes after the little girl’s warning about the station, nobody seemed entirely sure what to say. The room wasn’t silent—there was still the distant hum of traffic outside, the occasional creak of the building, and the soft clink of ceramic against wood—but the atmosphere felt different now. Heavier.

Daniel eventually broke first.

Carrying a tray loaded with coffee mugs, he walked back into the kitchen and placed them on the table one by one.

”Seriously,” he muttered, setting down the last mug, ”everyone’s acting like they just saw a ghost.”

Nobody answered.

Daniel looked around.

”That wasn’t a metaphor, by the way. We’ve literally seen ghosts before.”

Luna accepted her coffee with a quiet thanks, though she barely drank any of it. Instead, her attention remained fixed on Kai.

She had noticed the change in him.

It wasn’t fear.

Not exactly.

It was focus.

The same expression he wore whenever he was trying to connect pieces of a puzzle nobody else could even see. His eyes kept drifting toward the apartment window as though he expected something to appear beyond the glass.

”Kai.”

He blinked.

”Hm?”

”You’ve been staring out that window for five minutes.”

”...Have I?”

”You have.”

For a moment, he looked genuinely surprised.

Outside, the city appeared completely normal.

Cars crawled through intersections beneath changing traffic lights. A delivery cyclist argued loudly with a taxi driver. Two teenagers crossed the street while laughing at something on a phone screen. Apartment windows glowed warmly as people settled into their evening routines.

Nothing looked unusual.

Nothing looked supernatural.

And yet Kai couldn’t shake the feeling that something was waiting beyond the horizon.

Something moving toward them.

Something connected to the station.

Noah quietly poured himself a cup of coffee before speaking.

”I’ve heard of it.”

Every head turned.

Kai looked up immediately.

”You have?”

Noah nodded, though uncertainty lingered in his expression.

”I don’t know where.”

”I don’t know when.”

He rubbed his temples.

”But the name feels familiar.”

Luna leaned forward.

”What name?”

Noah hesitated.

Then quietly said, ”Platform Zero.”

The words seemed to settle over the room like a blanket.

Daniel frowned.

”Sounds like a subway station.”

”It isn’t.”

The answer came from the little girl.

She still stood near the window, her reflection faintly visible in the glass. Without turning around, she continued speaking.

”It doesn’t belong to any city.”

”It doesn’t belong to any country.”

”It isn’t marked on maps.”

Kai folded his arms.

”So what is it?”

The little girl remained silent for several seconds.

When she finally answered, her voice sounded distant.

”It’s where unfinished journeys wait.”

The room grew quiet again.

Kai considered those words carefully.

Unfinished journeys.

Not unfinished stories.

There was a difference.

A subtle one.

But an important one.

Stories could end.

Characters could disappear.

Narrators could be forgotten.

But journeys...

Journeys were different.

Some journeys continued long after stories finished.

Maybe that was what the station existed for.

A place for paths that had never reached their destination.

A place for people who were still searching.

He looked toward Noah.

”You said it feels familiar.”

Noah nodded slowly.

”I remember rain.”

”Rain?”

”A platform.”

His eyes drifted out of focus.

”There was rain everywhere.”

The apartment seemed to fade around him as he searched through fragmented memories.

”I remember standing there.”

”There weren’t any passengers.”

”No crowds.”

”No conductors.”

”No announcements.”

He frowned.

”Just suitcases.”

Daniel blinked.

”Suitcases?”

”Hundreds of them.”

Noah’s voice became quieter.

”They stretched across the platform.”

”Neatly arranged.”

”As if everyone had stepped away for a minute.”

His expression darkened.

”But nobody came back.”

Nobody interrupted.

”I remember feeling sad.”

A pause.

”Not scared.”

Kai noticed that immediately.

”You weren’t afraid.”

”No.”

”Why?”

Noah smiled faintly.

”Because everyone there looked like they were waiting for someone.”

His gaze lowered.

”Someone important.”

The room fell silent.

Luna wrapped both hands around her coffee mug.

The drink had long since cooled.

She didn’t seem to notice.

”What if it’s a trap?”

Everyone looked at her.

She shrugged.

”We’ve learned by now that impossible places usually come with impossible consequences.”

Kai nodded.

”That’s fair.”

Daniel pointed at her.

”Exactly.”

Then he pointed at Kai.

”Tell him.”

Kai looked at him.

”Tell me what?”

”That we’re staying here.”

Daniel spread his hands dramatically.

”That we’re going to spend the evening doing normal things.”

Silence.

Kai smiled.

”We’re definitely going.”

Daniel dropped his head onto the table.

”I knew it.”

Luna laughed despite herself.

”There he is.”

Kai raised an eyebrow.

”There who is?”

”The idiot.”

Daniel immediately pointed at her.

”See? Finally someone says it.”

Kai rolled his eyes.

Yet for a brief moment, the tension eased.

The apartment felt normal again.

Not because the danger had disappeared.

Because they had each other.

As the laughter faded, the little girl finally turned away from the window.

Something about her expression had changed.

She looked older.

Not physically.

Emotionally.

There was a weight behind her eyes that hadn’t been there before.

”Kai.”

”Hm?”

”If you go...”

She hesitated.

”...don’t go looking for answers.”

Kai frowned.

”What am I supposed to look for then?”

The little girl smiled sadly.

”People.”

The answer lingered in the room.

People.

Not clues.

Not mysteries.

Not secrets.

People.

Kai thought about Finn.

The forgotten narrator.

He thought about Noah.

A discarded revision.

He thought about every impossible encounter that had brought him here.

None of them had wanted power.

None of them had wanted answers.

They had simply wanted someone to see them.

Someone to remember.

Maybe that was the real pattern.

Not mysteries.

Loneliness.

Outside, the sun disappeared below the skyline.

Orange light faded into deep blue evening.

Streetlights flickered on one after another.

Kai checked the time.

7:18 PM.

The voice had mentioned the last train.

Midnight.

Less than five hours remained.

Kai stood.

”We should get ready.”

Daniel immediately got to his feet.

”I’ll grab flashlights.”

Luna stared at him.

”If this is a supernatural train station, what exactly is a flashlight going to accomplish?”

Daniel shrugged.

”I don’t know.”

He pointed toward the hallway.

”But if we end up wandering through ghost dimensions in total darkness, I’m going to feel really stupid for not bringing one.”

Kai laughed.

”Fair point.”

Noah disappeared into the living room.

A minute later he returned carrying a small backpack.

Kai blinked.

”That’s all?”

Noah looked down at it.

”It’s everything I own.”

The simple statement carried surprising weight.

Nobody replied.

Around them, moving boxes still lined the apartment walls.

Half-unpacked clothes sat folded on chairs.

The shelves remained mostly empty.

Noah truly had only just begun existing.

Later, while the others gathered supplies, Kai quietly stepped into the hallway.

The little girl was already there.

She sat on the top stair with her knees pulled against her chest.

Waiting.

”You knew this was coming.”

She nodded.

”I always know when trains arrive.”

Kai sat beside her.

”Have you ever been on one?”

”No.”

”Why not?”

She looked down at her shoes.

”They never stop for me.”

Kai frowned.

”Why?”

For a long time she said nothing.

Then, very softly:

”Because I’m the one who waves goodbye.”

Something tightened painfully inside Kai’s chest.

He wanted to ask what she meant.

He wanted to ask who she really was.

Instead, he simply sat beside her.

Sometimes silence was kinder than questions.

Eventually she reached into her pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper.

The paper looked old.

Ancient, almost.

Its edges were yellowed with age.

She handed it to him.

”A ticket.”

Kai unfolded it carefully.

The ticket appeared blank.

Except for a single printed line.

Destination: Undecided

He looked back at her.

”It doesn’t say where it goes.”

She smiled.

”It never does.”

Before Kai could ask another question, a low horn echoed somewhere in the distance.

The sound wasn’t coming from the street below.

It wasn’t coming from anywhere within the city.

It was deep.

Melancholy.

Ancient.

The unmistakable sound of a train announcing its arrival.

Every light in the building flickered.

For a brief instant, Kai smelled coal smoke drifting through the hallway.

The little girl’s smile vanished.

”It’s early.”

She stood so quickly that the ticket slipped from Kai’s fingers.

”It never comes early.”

Her eyes locked onto the darkening sky beyond the stairwell window.

Fear flashed across her face.

Real fear.

”The schedule...”

Her voice trembled.

”...has changed.”
