Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 824, Void Ancient God

Translator: Silavin

Ouyang Bai Ge’s head was replaced with a fist-sized insect.

This insect was especially strange. Its entire body was composed of black armour, beneath which were purplish black fibrous strands.

It had six scorpion-like articulated limbs. Apart from that, its body was covered by black armour, with no other visible organs.

Such a bizarre insect had obviously been hidden inside Ouyang Bai Ge’s head, controlling her every action.

Lu Fan had not expected the other party’s true appearance would manifest in such a manner. He was momentarily stunned, but quickly recovered. Extending his hand, the Flaming Meteor Sword fell into his grasp.

Simultaneously, seven Transport Arrays lit up around him. Except for Xiao Zuo and Xiao You, who were already on him, plus the Little Blade Armour Dragon King, all his Pet Dragons were poised and ready. They could be summoned with just one command from Lu Fan.

However, Lu Fan did not do so.

Because after revealing its form, the other party took no action.

Therefore, Lu Fan did not want to alert the enemy. Once his Pet Dragons were summoned, the entire Dragon Capital University would likely be drawn by the commotion.

At that point, there was no guarantee what the other party might do.

Ouyang Bai Ge’s body showed no abnormality despite her head exploding. It seemed that the insect above was her true head.

The insect’s body trembled lightly. Apparently, it used this method to reproduce Human speech.

“You needn’t be so wary of me. I have no malicious intent. If I did, Dragon Capital would have long ceased to exist, rather than remaining safe until now.”

Though it said this, Lu Fan did not relax his guard in the slightest. Frowning, he asked, “So who exactly are you? And what is your goal?”

The insect said, “Hmm, I really should introduce myself. I am the Void Ancient God, one of the Mid Tier Ancient Gods.”

[As expected, an Ancient God!] Lu Fan thought to himself that his predictions had been correct after all.

Someone capable of scheming and framing other Ancient Gods could only be another Ancient God.

Furthermore, with the other party’s bizarre nature, if they were not an Ancient God, that would be even stranger!

This existence called the Void Ancient God was also a Mid Tier Ancient God. In that case, its strength definitely could not be compared to the Divine Bone Ancient God. It must at least be as strong as the Abyssal Ancient God.

Moreover, since the other party dared to directly reveal their identity, their degree of awakening was probably somewhat higher than Abyssal Ancient God.

[No, wait. That isn’t right. If its awakening degree were higher, and it also knew of the Abyssal Ancient God’s location, why didn’t it kill the Abyssal Ancient God itself?]

The struggles between Ancient Gods weren’t limited to the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy. Ancient Gods also existed in a hunter-and-hunted relationship with each other.

Weaker Ancient Gods had to lie dormant to avoid being hunted by other Ancient Gods.

While stronger Ancient Gods, besides hunting living beings to complete their full awakening as quickly as possible, could also accelerate their awakening by hunting other Ancient Gods and devouring their Ancient God Sources.

Considering this relationship, Lu Fan immediately became convinced that the Void Ancient God’s strength might not match the Abyssal Ancient God.

At least in terms of the Void Ancient God’s degree of awakening, it was inferior to the Abyssal Ancient God.

Thinking this, Lu Fan could not help but contemplate killing the Void Ancient God right here.

However, this thought was dismissed as soon as it appeared.

Because this was Dragon Capital. Once they began fighting, the entire city would likely be razed, and millions would perish.

In short, they could not fight here.

Lu Fan needed to try and see if he could draw the battlefield elsewhere.

“You want to kill me?” The Void Ancient God spoke again at this moment, as if it had long anticipated Lu Fan’s thoughts.

To this, Lu Fan gave no response.

Because his thoughts were not hard to guess. It was normal for the other party to discern them.

It was just that he knew nothing about the other party, including their purpose, strength, and so on. This put him at too much of a disadvantage.

Void Ancient God continued at this time, “You truly needn’t be so wary towards me. I really have no malicious intent. Actually, I’m different from the other Ancient Gods. Or rather, I am an Ancient God, yet I’m not an Ancient God.”

With that, it controlled the body, removing the blood-stained calligraphy paper before it and replacing it with fresh paper. Picking up the brush again, it began writing, appearing quite relaxed and comfortable.

If only its head was not some bizarre insect.

“You are an Ancient God yet aren’t an Ancient God? What do you mean?” Lu Fan did not relax his vigilance, but was extremely interested in the other party’s words.

Because compared to the other Ancient Gods, this one was indeed somewhat different. It lacked that almost instinctive impulse for slaughter, and instead seemed more like a Human.

“This matter is rather complex to explain.” The Void Ancient God’s tone was calm as it slowly replied.

“Right now, I am the Void Ancient God. But millions of years ago, in the previous era, I was actually Human.”

“You’re from the previous era, and you were Human?!” Lu Fan was stunned.

He had thought that in the previous era, Humans should have existed too.

Because current archaeology has discovered multiple historical ruins proven to be hundreds of thousands, even tens of millions of years old.

However, regarding past history, no books or records existed, so Human history actually has an enormous gap in it.

Lu Fan initially did not understand why, but after learning that the 36 Ancient Gods would have the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy every million years, slaughtering all living beings in the world, it became clear to him.

Eras changed, and those who could exist across eras should only be the Ancient Gods.

Others, even powerful existences like Giant Dragons, could only have some strong individuals survive across the change in eras.

If the other party claimed to be an Ancient God from the previous era, Lu Fan could understand that.

But for the other party to claim it was a Human in the previous era. This was incomprehensible to him.

Ancient Gods were eternal existences. How could one of them possibly have been Human in the previous era?

“I know you’re confused about how I was once Human.” The Void Ancient God slowly continued writing while speaking.

“Yet the facts are indeed so. I believe you’ve already obtained considerable information about the Ancient Gods from the Abyssal Ancient God. However, what it told you isn’t the whole story.”

“Ancient Gods are indeed eternal existences. That’s a fact and is not wrong. But it’s not absolute. Ancient Gods don’t actually represent a life, but rather represent a Divine Seat. What’s eternal isn’t the Ancient Gods themselves, but the position that these Ancient Gods represent.”
