Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 820, South Country People? I Can’t Be Bothered!

Cui Ziyi was stunned. She softly asked. “But Sister Ning, didn’t you say that experts like you shouldn’t get involved in the muddy waters of a small place like ours? Our gang disputes here really shouldn’t require intervention from people like you.”

Ning Shuan’er smiled and said, “If I were only staying here for a few days, I indeed wouldn’t intervene. After all, if I got involved in everything, I’d never have any peace. But the situation now is different from before. We’ve spent so much time together. I too consider you as my friend.”

“Since we’re friends, I should naturally help you if I can. At the very least, if you’re truly in danger, I definitely can’t let you get hurt and do nothing, right? So keep this Scroll safe. I can’t make any promises about other places, but if it’s just Southern Black Port, I believe that with just me alone, I can at least protect your life.”

“By the way, if you’re interested, you could also come to the Western Border. Our Ning Family has considerable influence in the Western Border and could provide you with a better life. You wouldn’t have to suffer in a place like Southern Black Port.”

Cui Ziyi smiled and accepted the Scroll. “I’ll accept this Scroll. Thank you for your kind intentions, Sister Ning. But, I’ll pass on going elsewhere. You probably know that the main reason I’m staying here isn’t because I want to establish myself in this place. I’m staying here because this is where my Father has been laid to rest. I want to remain here to properly accompany him.”

“No matter what, I appreciate your kind offer, Sister Ning. If I really do face danger, I’ll crush the Scroll and have you come save me.” As she spoke, she playfully blinked and smiled. “Of course, what I hope for even more is to establish myself firmly in Southern Black Port through my own strength and become a force to be reckoned with. When that time comes, I’ll also crush this Scroll and summon you over. But the purpose won’t be to save me. It’ll be to drink, chat, and talk about things between us girls.”

She glanced at Lu Fan and softly said with a smile. “I also hope that by then, you two will have achieved a happy ending together. Actually, I think the way you two love and fight with each other makes you a perfect match.”

Although Cui Ziyi had whispered into Ning Shuan’er’s ear, Lu Fan still heard her.

Lu Fan pursed his lips in displeasure. “Well, that wish of yours is going to fall flat. There’s no possibility between her and me!”

Cui Ziyi stuck out her tongue but said nothing more. Instead, she grasped Ning Shuan’er’s hand and squeezed it. “Sister Ning, you need to work hard, okay?”

Ning Shuan’er’s face flushed slightly red. She nodded, then glanced at Lu Fan before saying, “Alright then, shall we go?”

“Yeah, let’s go!” Lu Fan nodded. He summoned out his Bone Wings, bid farewell to Cui Ziyi, and shot into the sky, flying toward the distance.

Ning Shuan’er also transformed into a Fire Phoenix and followed alongside Lu Fan.

Very quickly, the two had left the Abyssal Rift far behind.

Ning Shuan’er had not found an opportunity to strike up a conversation with Lu Fan. Only after finally catching up to him could she speak. “By the way, weren’t we supposed to use your Territory as a transfer point to reach Dragon Capital University? So where exactly are we flying to now?”

Although no one in the Ning Family possessed a private Territory like Lu Fan, Ning Shuan’er was still a Young Lady from a prestigious Family. She was well-informed and knowledgeable. She knew that Territory Transport Arrays could be opened at any time.

Therefore, Lu Fan could have simply opened a Transport Array right at the Abyssal Rift to leave. There was no need to fly to some specific location.

So, why was he using his Bone Wings to go to some distant place? This naturally puzzled Ning Shuan’er.

Without turning his head, Lu Fan calmly said. “Before leaving, let’s take care of something. Didn’t you say you consider Cui Ziyi a friend? Well, so do I.”

“Since that’s the case, before we leave, let’s help her out. We’ll directly eliminate all obstacles in Southern Black Port and prevent future troubles. Right now, of the six major gangs, five remain. Before we leave, let’s wipe out the other four. Then the Heavenly Dragon Gang can become the sole power.”

“With Cui Ziyi controlling all the resources, she should be able to reign supreme in Southern Black Port. Whether she’ll be overthrown later, that might still be uncertain. However, it will depend on her own capabilities.”

Upon hearing this, Ning Shuan’er was momentarily stunned, then smiled. “So you’re going to help her? I thought you had no interest in participating in any of Southern Black Port’s disputes.”

“Originally, I didn’t hold any interest,” Lu Fan said in a deep voice. “But after spending time together, I think Cui Ziyi is a pretty decent person. If I only regarded her as a tool who provided me lodging and acted as my tour guide, I definitely wouldn’t help her eliminate the other gangs. But since I consider her a friend, then helping her out in passing isn’t a big deal.”

“In my view, having Southern Black Port in her hands might not be a bad thing. At least, for Dragon Country and our people. As for those from South Country… I can’t be bothered with them.”

This remark made Ning Shuan’er laugh. She teased, “I didn’t expect you to be quite xenophobic.”

“I wouldn’t say I’m xenophobia,” Lu Fan said. “I just prioritise my own people.”

Ning Shuan’er replied, “Fine, fine, fine. Say whatever you want. Since you want to eliminate the other four gangs, why don’t I contribute as well? I remember the Southern Underworld Gang’s territory is just ahead, right? Leave that gang to me. If I kill all the experts in the gang, that should do it, right?”

Lu Fan nodded. “Yeah, that’s enough. In that case, I’ll take care of the other three. Let’s regroup here in half an hour.”

“No problem.” Ning Shuan’er agreed.

Afterward, Lu Fan and Ning Shuan’er parted ways.

Ning Shuan’er headed directly toward the Southern Underworld Gang ahead, while Lu Fan flew toward the other three gangs.

For Lu Fan, destroying a gang like this was simple. He needed to do nothing more than have his Pet Dragons release a single Skill.

Among the remaining four gangs, although two were technically Dragon Country gangs, through these past few days of observation, Lu Fan had discovered that their ranks were heavily mixed with people from South Country. In short, these two gang would never obediently fall under Cui Ziyi’s rule. They could no longer be said to be under Dragon Country.

Even worse, these two gangs no longer cared about the well beings of others. For them, what mattered was whether they could make a profit. In that case, what use was there in keeping such gangs around? Better to eliminate them all.

Letting Cui Ziyi manage Southern Black Port might actually transform it into a more prosperous place for everyone.

Silavin: Okay, the racism and xenophobia is real here. I’ve changed the tone of the context to make it more neutral.
