Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 349, Western Border, Three Ancient Noble Families

Lu Fan’s tone was cold, carrying obvious murderous intent. This tone made Loong Xing stop in his tracks and turn around with an interested look on his face.

“Oh?” he said with a smile, “Are you talking to me?”

“Who else!” Lu Fan’s eyes narrowed, “You’ve showed off and you’re just trying to leave? Did my Senior Sister tell you to leave!?”

“Senior Sister?” Loong Xing did not understand the relationship between Lu Fan and Ye Wuxian. However, after looking at Lu Fan for a moment, he understood why Lu Fan was so bold.

“No wonder you dare to speak to me like this. So, you’re the Dragon Country hero that everyone’s been talking about. Lu Fan, right?”

Though he called Lu Fan ‘Dragon Country hero’, his expression showed no reverence. Instead, he seemed to be looking at an ant. He just shook his head with a smile and continued. “Just because you helped Dragon Country win one National Trial, you should not think too highly of yourself. Everyone might call you Dragon Country’s hero, but do you really think you’re invincible among the younger generation? To think you’re so arrogant as to daring shout at anyone.”

At this point, Loong Xing disdainfully said. “You can go check who represented Dragon Country in the National Trial twenty years ago, and see how many resources they’ve won for Dragon Country then. What’s more, that was just me playing around, honours I don’t even bother to mention. Only frogs in a well like you would think of participating in the National Trial as a great achievement.”

With that, he continued walking out, completely dismissing Lu Fan. “Ye Wuxian, I’ll only wait two hours. In two hours, the Ye Family’s fate will depend on you.”

Lu Fan showed displeasure, wanting to teach this guy a lesson, but he was stopped by Ye Wuxian.

“Don’t be rash!” Ye Wuxian’s face was pale as she tightly gripped Lu Fan’s hand.

Lu Fan did not want to forcefully break free from Ye Wuxian’s grip, so he could only watch as Loong Xing left the place.

“Senior Sister, why are you stopping me?” Lu Fan was dissatisfied.

At this moment, Andrei, who had been quiet until now, pursed his lips and interjected. “Who was that douche? Participating in the National Trial is not worthy of honour? Brother Lu, why don’t we both go teach him a lesson? I really want to whack him with my hammer!”

Lu Fan agreed.

Seeing these two hot tempered youths, Ye Wuxian could only helplessly sigh and said. “He is not that simple. He is incomparable to others from the National Trial. Though he looks only in his twenties or thirties, he’s actually nearly forty. Moreover, his Level is as high as 95, and he had his Fourth Profession Change years ago.”

“What he said wasn’t just empty threats. Twenty years ago, he participated in the National Trial as Dragon Country’s representative and easily took first place. After twenty years of being nurtured with the resources of an Ancient Noble Family, his strength is not inferior to mine.”

“He’s that powerful? Looks like in a direct fight, I wouldn’t be his match at all…” Andrei was greatly surprised that someone who looked so young was actually so many Levels higher than him.

After thinking for a moment, he cautiously asked. “Then… should I launch a sneak attack on him?”

Ye Wuxian: “…”

Lu Fan: “…”

Since Loong Xing had temporarily left, whether Andrei would give him an open hammer strike or a sneak attack hammer strike did not matter anymore.

Lu Fan quickly noticed that since Ye Wuxian had this internal injury now, she must have personally gone to Extremistis Country while carrying these injuries. It made him feel uncomfortable at the thought of how much she was bearing without him knowing.

He had Ye Wuxian sit down on the sofa to rest, then summoned Xiao Cui to cast Spring of Life and Jade Light on her.

Although Xiao Cui’s Skills could remove Debuffs, internal injuries were not classified as a type of Debuff.

It was like how even though the cancer rate in this world was not high, there were still people who suffered from this terminal illness. Naturally, this kind of terminal illness could not be cured by a Priest’s Skills. At most, a Priest’s Skills could only help extend the patient’s life.

Nevertheless, having two additional Buffs would help Ye Wuxian suppress her internal injuries and recover faster.

Sure enough, as Xiao Cui’s two Skills landed on Ye Wuxian, her weakness was swept away.

Lu Fan said with some displeasure. “Senior Sister, your Family matters are so urgent, yet you never mentioned them to me. Aren’t you being too distant with me?”

Ye Wuxian smiled bitterly and shook her head. “What’s the use of telling you? Telling you these matters wouldn’t help, it would only make you worry. Besides, this involves Dragon Country’s Ancient Noble Families. Their power is beyond what ordinary people can imagine…”

Lu Fan asked. “Well now, even if you wanted to hide it from me, you can’t anymore, right? Who exactly was that person just now, and what’s this about the Loong Family, Huang Family, and the Ye Family?”

After a long silence, Ye Wuxian finally spoke. “Well, guess it doesn’t matter if I tell you now. Actually, matters about the Western Border isn’t really a secret.”

“You should remember I mentioned before that Dragon Country has Ancient Noble Families, right? That these Ancient Noble Families are all Major Families with deep historical foundations. They…”

Ye Wuxian quickly explained the situation regarding the three Ancient Noble Families in the Western Border.

As Lu Fan had guessed, Ye Wuxian indeed came from an Ancient Noble Family, and a prestigious one at that – the Ye Family.

In the Western Border, there were three Ancient Noble Families of roughly equal strength.

The three Ancient Noble Families were far from Dragon Country’s prosperous regions, but they controlled large unexplored territories in the Western Border. Naturally, that meant they possessed tremendous power and wealth.

Throughout history, although there had been friction between the three Ancient Noble Families, they had maintained relatively harmonious coexistence without major incidents.

This balance was broken half a year ago.

The Ye Family Patriarch, Ye Wuxian’s Grandfather, who was the Ye Family’s pillar of strength, who reached Level 99, was strong enough to dominate the region. Furthermore, besides him, the Ye Family had three Fourth Profession Players – including Ye Wuxian.

The Patriarch and the other three Fourth Profession Players went exploring in the Western Border together, but something unknown happened, and only the Patriarch returned back alive.

However, upon returning, he was bedridden with severe injuries and eventually passed away.

While the Ye Family Patriarch was bedridden, the other two Ancient Noble Families – the Loong Family and Huang Family – remained relatively quiet, perhaps fearing that the Old Patriarch was faking it or might still possess the ability to make a final strike before death. That one strike might be able to take down all the Fourth Profession Players of both Families to ensure the Ye Family would not be absorbed by the other two.

After the Ye Family Patriarch truly died in his bed, the burden of the Ye Family fell on Ye Wuxian’s shoulders.

Ye Wuxian alone naturally could not intimidate both the Loong and Huang Families.

After the balance between the three Ancient Noble Families was broken, the Loong and Huang Families finally revealed their fangs.
