Chapter 1609: Chapter 556: Fiery Flame Storm (2)

”Otherwise, the Dragan Empire is really underestimating the importance of this collaboration. I will apply to the council to withdraw from this operation.”

”Yes, indeed we should. The Floating City Ruins are highly dangerous, and the exploration team must have enough strength. We currently lack the necessary power with just the few of us.” Otto nodded in agreement.

...

Meanwhile.

Ressero Canyon.

Owing to the massive size of the Black Dragon Metheus, it could only wait outside the cave camp while Rein followed Haleem inside the camp.

”Lord Rein, Terrio will return shortly, and as for the Zok brothers, they should also be arriving soon.” As Haleem spoke, he saw Terrio and his group approaching quickly from a distance.

”Haha, Lord Rein, it’s truly a joy to see you again,” Federation Sword Saint Terrio said enthusiastically.

”Lord Terrio, it’s been a while,” Rein slightly bowed, smiling.

”Lord Rein, my apologies, I was just checking the situation at the Floating City Ruins, so I couldn’t welcome you right away. By the way, where are the others from the Empire?”

As Sword Saint Terrio spoke, he looked around and realized there was only Rein from the Empire. Puzzled, he glanced around and said,

”Lord Terrio, I am the only one from the Empire this time...though to be precise, my dragon companion is outside the cave as well.”

”Oh? Lord Rein, you’ve contracted a giant dragon? Let me see.”

Terrio didn’t give much thought about Rein coming alone.

After all, Terrio was well aware of Rein’s strength. At least he alone is worth three people, and now that Rein has contracted a giant dragon, his power further increased, equivalent to four or five epic-level warriors, representing the Dragan Empire is not an issue.

However, while Terrio was familiar with Rein, the three individuals beside him were not.

Their focus, naturally, diverged from Terrio’s. Upon hearing Rein mention that the Dragan Empire sent only him for the collaboration exploring the Floating City Ruins, their expressions changed, and they whispered among themselves:

”This Lord Rein looks quite young. The Empire really sent just him alone? They truly are underestimating this collaboration,” said the elder Wizard holding a fiery red crystal staff in a deep voice.

”Indeed, even if Lord Rein’s strength is as formidable as Terrio claims, there’s still only one of him. How...ridiculous!” Another elder Wizard with a beard tied in a small braid shook his head and said.

”Let’s go and see what kind of dragon he’s contracted,” suggested the elder dressed in a red and gold-trimmed Wizard Robe.

”...Alright, let’s take a look first then.”

...

Soon, the group of six arrived outside the cave camp, where they found a giant dragon resembling a small black mountain lying curled up, resting.

”This...this Black Dragon is massive! Lord Rein, could this be an Old Dragon level Black Dragon?”

At the first sight of Metheus, not only Sword Saint Terrio but also the other three were wide-eyed, their mouths slightly agape in utter astonishment.

After all, giant dragons of the Extremely Old Dragon Level are rarely seen by most Imperial Guardians, let alone the Federation’s warriors.

”Lord Terrio, this is my dragon companion—’Mad Wings’ Metheus, a Black Dragon of the Extremely Old Dragon Level. According to the Wizard’s combat power conversion, it’s roughly between Dawn Late Stage and Dawn Peak.”

After contemplating, Rein didn’t hide the information but introduced seriously.

After all, they were a team and, to establish the lead position for the upcoming exploration of the Floating City Ruins, it was in Rein’s interest to make this known early.

Additionally, the mountain-sized physique of Metheus spoke for its own power.

”Extremely Old Dragon? Dawn Peak?”

Upon hearing this, everyone exchanged glances, unsure of what to say for a moment.

The three Dawn Wizards’ elders, their lips quivering slightly, ceased speaking altogether.

There was simply no reason left to doubt anything.

The sheer size of the Black Dragon before them, along with its overwhelming, profound aura, confirmed that Rein’s words were not exaggerated.

Having such a formidable dragon under his command, let alone the Dragon Knight himself, his strength was surely at least Dawn Late Stage!

For a moment, the three felt rather ashamed of their previous remarks.

Meanwhile, Haleem, watching the changes in their expressions with a smile, could not help but laugh inwardly.

They had been skeptical of his and Sword Saint Terrio’s high praise of Lord Rein.

Now, seeing their stunned looks, Haleem felt a sense of refreshing satisfaction, akin to drinking ice on a summer’s day.

At this moment, the Communication Mark on Haleem’s chest suddenly flickered, prompting him to listen attentively.

The next second, Haleem’s face changed, and he immediately said,

”Lord Rein, everyone, Brother Zok just informed us that a powerful giant beast is heading straight for the cave camp. We should prepare for battle.”

”Hmm? A giant beast?” Rein immediately thought of something.

”Report! Lords, the lookout has spotted a strange giant beast resembling a giant dragon rapidly flying towards us from the western horizon.” At this point, a Federation officer reported loudly.

”Lord Rein, shall we go take a look together?” Sword Saint Terrio invited.

”Alright,” Rein nodded.

In fact, Rein was almost certain the so-called giant beast they were referring to was probably the Steel Dragon Dorick.

However, not having seen it, there was no guarantee, so it was only natural to check and confirm first.
