Chapter 358 – 191: Undercurrents Surge (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)

Meist County City.

Within the Great Hall of the Monsoon and Ocean Goddess Temple.

Rein glanced at the attribute panel, observing the experience situation of each transcendent profession, and his face showed contemplation.

Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) lv4 (358/1000) / Knight (Transcendent) lv5 (795/2000) / Beast Tamer (Transcendent) lv5 (64/2000).

After a swift deliberation, Rein first ruled out the Knight (Transcendent) profession panel because he was about to face many battles, and his current means of combating opponents were mainly knight combat skills; thus, the knight panel could garner a considerable amount of experience.

Next, as for the Beast Tamer, he had some new potions he wanted to try, which he estimated could bring a substantial amount of experience.

From this perspective, it seemed that the first option was the most challenging to advance.

Therefore, in the end, Rein focused his attention on the Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) profession panel.

As Rein silently chanted ’Wizard Apprentice,’ he instantly used 1976 experience points on the Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) profession panel.

Suddenly, a system prompt appeared:

[Congratulations, your Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) profession level has advanced!]

The profession level of Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) on the panel increased from lv4 to lv5 (1325/2000), and at the bottom of the panel, it displayed remaining attribute points: 3, and remaining skill points: 2.

Seeing this, a radiant smile couldn’t help but spread across Rein’s face.

The Goddess’s blessing?

It really was quite good!

Rein sincerely performed a knight’s salute to Bishop Shion and said, “Thank the Goddess, and thank you, Your Excellency the Bishop!”

After a friendly conversation, Rein took the initiative to say he had matters to attend to at home.

Thus, after saying his goodbyes to Bishop Shion and Dean Rudolph, Rein slowly walked out of the hall.

Watching Rein’s departing figure, Bishop Shion turned his head to ask, “Rudolph, it’s still your discerning eye, I didn’t expect that the youth you reported to me once has grown to this extent.”

“It’s a pity, such an excellent young man did not join our church.”

…

When Rein rode back to his new residence on his tall, black warhorse, the first to greet him was the Greyhound ’Cookie.’

Since Rein had entrusted his sister Bo He with Cookie’s care before leaving, and after a month of adding a few drops of Mutant Growth Potion to its meals three times a day, Cookie’s physique had grown significantly beyond that of an average greyhound.

Moreover, Rein keenly noticed that Cookie’s body had begun to change from a slender dog, with muscles clearly bulging out, moving further away from the greyhound’s characteristic slim figure, seemingly beginning some kind of mutant growth.

Not bad!

Rein nodded slightly. Although the bulking up might lead to a decrease in speed, he could accept this kind of mutation.

If it had mutated like the ’King of Dogs’ ’Colt,’ acquiring an ability like ’Rapid Breeding,’ that would have been problematic for him.

Seeing that Cookie, who had been playing with her, suddenly dashed away, Bo He was taken aback, only to then look up and call out with a joyous expression, “Brother, brother’s back!”

Rein dismounted, picked up his sister Bo He, and lovingly ruffled her hair with a smile.

Soon, the news of Rein’s return spread throughout the new manor.

In a moment, the beautiful matron Jennifer also briskly walked out from a villa within the estate.

However, when she saw Rein exchanging pleasantries with family, the matron could only hold back her desire to rush into Rein’s arms, and instead, she watched them with a beaming smile.

It didn’t take long for Rein to notice his mother, who had a subtle worry on her beautiful face.

Rein said to his parents, Emma and old Rein, “Father, Mother, I have something I need to discuss with Baroness Crowley.”

“Hmm, go ahead,” his mother Emma agreed without suspicion, nodding readily.

During the time Rein was away, Baroness Crowley got along very well with her, and to Emma, it seemed that the ladies of noble families were not as difficult to get along with as she had imagined.

Especially this stunningly beautiful Baroness, although only a few years younger than her, the two together looked like they were from two different generations.

Her husband barely dared to lift his head whenever he saw the beautiful matron, immediately turning red at the sight of her.

This made Emma somewhat envious of the Baroness’s natural beauty.

Watching the tall Rein and the elegant matron leave, Emma couldn’t shake the feeling that ’these two make a good pair.’

But soon, Emma shook her head, casting this ridiculous idea out of her mind.

It would have made more sense if Miss Jenny had become Rein’s wife.

This arresting Baroness, as beautiful as she was, was a widow, plus she was ultimately too old. Read new chapters at empire

Rein and the beautiful matron quickly made their way to the study on the second floor.

The matron locked the door, and the smile she had held in front of others could no longer be sustained; with a troubled face, she handed Rein something that looked like an invitation card, saying worriedly, “Darling, this is Baron Norman’s letter of challenge for a duel to the death.”

In private, the beautiful matron now addressed Rein as ’darling.’

Rein smiled, said nothing, took the letter of challenge, and casually opened it to read:

“Baron Rein: Given that the dishonor you brought upon the Norman family can only be cleansed with blood, please make certain to accept the challenge to defend the honor of a knight in a duel in the County Town arena on the second Sunday of the month of white snow, until one of us falls, after which all grievances shall be considered null and void!”
