Chapter 356 – 190 Goddess Church (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_3

So young, and already a Baron?

They had thought it was some skilled Knight, but to their surprise, it turned out to be an Imperial Baron, and such a young one at that. Indeed, a rare sight.

Rein smiled and said, “Abbot, you flatter me. You may still call me Rein.”

At the same time, Rein nodded slightly to the two Holy Temple Knights standing behind Rudolph as a sign of greeting.

The two of them had fought together in the last battle in the Nightingale Forest, so they were familiar. One of them seemed to be called Magini; Rein remembered him.

“Baron Sir!” the two Holy Temple Knights bowed slightly and said.

“Abbot, there’s something that might trouble you this time.” Rein turned his head to signal the large carriage behind him, and then he fell silent.

Rudolph, seasoned and shrewd, immediately understood Rein’s meaning and said, “Baron Rein, please come to my place.”

Following that, he gestured to the two Holy Temple Knights to lead the carriage into the temple grounds.

It wasn’t until they reached the front courtyard of the temple that Rein’s expression turned solemn, “Abbot, on the way back to the County Town, I was assassinated by the Black Flame Cult, perhaps you should take a look at the assailant’s body first.”

“What? Assassinated?” Rudolph’s face changed, and he immediately gestured to the two Holy Temple Knights to open the carriage.

The two Holy Temple Knights opened the carriage door and carried out the tall and thin body of the ’Beast Knight’.

However, as soon as they lifted the body, they realized it was like a pile of sludge, its bones nearly shattered, sagging heavily downwards. Next to it was a characteristic weapon, a bizarrely shaped scythe.

The two Holy Temple Knights exchanged a glance.

“Such formidable Hammer Skill!” one of the Knights exclaimed.

He also practiced Hammer Skill, so he recognized at first glance that the wounds on the body and its sludge-like condition were clearly caused by extremely powerful Hammer Skill.

This level of mastery in applying the force of Shock, without decades of hard practice, was impossible to achieve!

And this Baron Rein is so young…

The Holy Temple Knight glanced at Rein, filled with immense astonishment!

“Hmm! This is Giovanni.” Abbot Rudolph looked at the body and the characteristic weapon beside it — a long-handled, oddly shaped scythe — and his eyes narrowed suddenly.

Although he maintained a calm facade, he was incredibly shocked inwardly.

This man was the leader of the Wilderness Brotherhood, involved in many of the dirty, underhanded dealings behind the scenes.

Indeed, the Goddess Church had long wanted to remove this cancer, but due to strong opposition from many nobles within the County Town, and lacking clear evidence of the group being controlled by a Cult, the matter had been postponed.

Moreover, Giovanni was quite powerful in his own right, able to hold his own against a Great Knight after transforming. Rudolph never expected him to die at Rein’s hand.

Ah! Rein managing to kill him, doesn’t that imply that Rein…

At that moment, Rudolph connected the dots.

“This is the Wilderness Brotherhood’s leader, Giovanni, also known as ’Beast Knight’. Rein, was it he who attacked you?” Rudolph asked in surprise, looking at Rein.

“That’s correct, Abbot. However, you might find his other identity more interesting.” While speaking, Rein took out from his bosom a diamond-shaped token with three black flame-like insignias and a prayer written in Lingwen Script, presenting it before the three of them.

“Black Flame Guardian’s token and Black Flame Protection Prayer!” Rudolph exclaimed, his eyes widening as he took a closer look.

“What!” The two Holy Temple Knights inhaled sharply.

“It’s actually a Black Flame Guardian’s token!” They looked at each other, both seeing the shock in the other’s eyes.

The exclamations of the group, particularly the normally composed Abbot Rudolph, immediately drew the attention of the Holy Temple Knights and guards practicing Combat Skills in the temple courtyard.

Rein then looked at Rudolph and the two Holy Temple Knights, asking in confusion, “What is a Black Flame Guardian? I remember the last time I killed a Black Flame Apostle, I also found a Black Flame token.”

“However, that had one black flame, and this one with three black flames seems to be a level higher than the Apostle’s.” Read new chapters at empire

“You’re right, Rein. The rank of this Black Flame Guardian is second only to the High Priest of the Black Flame. Not only are they very strong, but they also keep their identities concealed. We knew before that there were two Black Flame Guardians within the Cult, but we never knew who they were,” Rudolph sighed.

“Never would I have imagined that the Wilderness Brotherhood’s leader Giovanni was actually a Black Flame Guardian!”

Although he found it hard to believe that this young-looking youth had caused the death of a Black Flame Guardian, considering Rein’s feats of killing a Black Flame Apostle before, it seemed to remind him repeatedly that this was reasonable!

Moreover, this Black Flame Guardian’s token and Black Flame Protection Prayer were the best proof!

For the Goddess Church, this was obviously a great opportunity. With the leader of the Wilderness Brotherhood killed, now was the best time to conduct a cleanup operation.

“Magini, assemble the team immediately. I will report to the Archbishop, and we must begin cleaning up the Wilderness Brotherhood at once!”

“Selkin, take these two items to the Archbishop, and report the situation as well.” After thinking it over, Rudolph promptly gave orders.

“Rein, perhaps you should meet with the Archbishop. I believe Archbishop Shion will be very pleased to see you,” Rudolph turned to Rein and said.
