When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 384: Chapter 140: The Green Tea Female Supporting Character in a Period Piece Novel (27)

Under Mr. Chi’s annoyed glare, Chi Yun’er rubbed her nose and explained her plan with a smile.

In her experience from all those years living in the hospital’s family housing, a hundred vials of Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid were enough to meet any household’s actual needs, with a bit left over to give to friends and family.

A case holds thirty boxes, with ten vials per box. This left each employee with a surplus of twenty boxes at their disposal. Typically, they acted extravagantly, handing out the summer relief supplies to friends and family the moment they got them. Though it risked making them look like easy marks, it did wonders for their reputation.

The hospital administration found this method to be economical and effective, and nobody was willing to be the one to rock the boat.

This had trapped the distribution of summer relief supplies in a terrible, vicious cycle!

So, she planned to trade the surplus twenty boxes per person with a manufacturer in the south. Twenty boxes from one person wasn’t much, but with over 2,700 employees, the total was substantial. She was confident that once people understood her plan, almost no one would turn down a more abundant and varied selection of summer relief items.

That amounted to over 540,000 vials of Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid. Each vial cost less than three fen to produce, but its retail price was as high as six fen.

Chi Yun’er promised to cover the shipping costs and even offered a concession of one fen per vial.

Her attitude was so sincere that the other party felt they couldn’t negotiate. They agreed to provide their factory’s own products at cost plus a small service fee, and would even cover the shipping to the Capital City!

After all, this wasn’t an ordinary transaction, but an exchange between two entities’ employee benefits programs. One couldn’t be too fussy about gains and losses.

The total value of the hospital’s summer relief fund had effectively more than doubled.

But this was only the beginning. When this shipment of goods reached the Capital City, Chi Yun’er had no intention of distributing all of it to the employees. Instead, she would set aside one or two of each item per person and use the rest to conduct another ”fair” trade—bartering with local manufacturers!

Southern products fetched a very different price in the Capital City.

Rarity determines value. Many southern products were unavailable up north, not only due to the great distance but, more importantly, because southern goods were in high demand and had no shortage of buyers. Their order books were full for a year, so news of these items hadn’t even reached the Capital City yet.

This time, what the General Hospital had to offer wasn’t the Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid that people only thought of in an emergency, but sought-after rare goods from the south.

Surely, plenty of local manufacturers would be willing to trade for them.

Chi Yun’er would again employ the strategy of dealing with multiple, spread-out manufacturers and keeping each transaction small, exchanging the goods for local items like sodas, watermelons, mung bean cakes, fans, and the like.

Although the whole process was quite troublesome—just the negotiations between different work units were enough to deter most people—for Chi Yun’er, this approach greatly increased her chances of success while avoiding unwanted attention.

After this second round of bartering, the total value of the summer relief supplies would double yet again...

After hearing her entire plan, the room fell silent. They simply couldn’t comprehend how the difference between people could be so vast.

The girl had only been working for a few days, yet she’d devised a plan that would stun everyone. The thing was, if even *they* were completely sold on the idea, what about everyone else?

”Excellent, excellent, excellent,” the Director couldn’t help but clap and praise. ”I always say, a tiger father won’t have a dog for a daughter! Old Chi’s daughter has been as clever as a monkey since she was little. How could she possibly remain an ordinary staffer?”

”If you pull this off, I won’t just approve you for a permanent position immediately, I’ll create a special position for you: Director of Benefits Procurement!”

Everyone was stunned for a moment, then they all reflected on how each new generation of young people was more impressive than the last. Someone with this much ability should be given the proper authority—let people’s talents be put to good use!

After all, this young woman had taken supplies worth just over 24,000 yuan, flipped them twice, and turned them into goods with a total value of around 60,000 yuan. That was a feat not just anyone could accomplish.

Having netted the hospital so much, making her the Director of Benefits Procurement would not only allow her to continue generating value for the institution, but would also let the entire hospital staff enjoy better benefits.

With Old Chi’s by-the-book personality, Chi Yun’er wouldn’t have the opportunity or the nerve to skim anything off the top in that position. Besides, if she became a director at such a young age, her salary and benefits would improve. Living a comfortable life, she’d be less likely to become greedy.

Most importantly, kids fresh out of school and entering the workforce didn’t lack a heart burning to serve the nation. They were all eager to roll up their sleeves and get to work, especially those who had once been swept up in the fervor of going ”down to the countryside”!

The fact that that one year had left no visible mark on Chi Yun’er further proved that her life had been comfortable. She hadn’t endured many hardships, so that passionate heart of hers was still intact.

”I have no objection,” the head of the Finance Department spoke up first. ”Chi, go for it with your full confidence. Once this is done, we’ll establish a Benefits Department, and you’ll be the youngest director in our hospital.”
