When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 369: Chapter 135: The Green Tea Female Supporting Character in the Period Drama (22)

After many twists and turns, in her forties, she ended up following a nouveau riche man to the Capital City.

In a bathhouse, Bian Yumin saw Chi Yun’er, who had barely aged at all. She was truly a pampered woman, with fair, dewy skin like a girl in her twenties. The crimson birthmark on her chest was like a red plum blossom in full bloom.

Chi Yun’er was only there because the showerhead at her home had broken, forcing her to condescend to using a public bathhouse.

She stood at the entrance, frowning and unwilling to enter, until Jiang Zishi—still dashing and gentle in his middle age—coaxed her for a long while in a soft, pleasant voice.

They had once lived in the same village, yet one had soared high while the other struggled in hell.

The stark contrast, combined with years of bitterness and suffering, had long since warped Bian Yumin’s mind.

Her eyes filled with vicious intent. As Chi Yun’er passed by, Bian Yumin gave her a sudden, hard shove. She watched, wide-eyed, as the woman’s head struck the edge of the pool with a heavy thud. Chi Yun’er’s eyes squeezed shut as her body went limp and slid into the water, where a bloom of blood instantly blossomed like a flower.

They had both come during the quiet hours when most people were at work. The bathhouse was thick with steam, and the sound of splashing water filled the air. Who would have noticed?

Trembling all over and fighting back the terror of what she had done, Bian Yumin forced herself to watch the woman drown in the pool for a full three minutes. Only then did she hurry away to the outer room to get dressed. In her haste, however, her foot slipped, and she fell.

When she opened her eyes again, she had returned to more than twenty years in the past!

Bian Yumin looked down at her hands, a cold sneer playing on her lips. ’Chi Yun’er, we are fated rivals. One of us has to be the other’s stepping stone.’

’You can have that old man, Director Zhang. As for your dear Zishu, he will be the one to take me away from here to study in the provincial capital, and then he’ll slowly climb the ranks to become a hospital director.’

She walked right up to Chi Yun’er, patted her on the shoulder, and said with a light laugh, ”Chi, can we go over there and talk for a moment?”

”There are so many people here, and there’s no pool. Besides, today is a big day for me. It’ll only take a moment. You’re not scared, are you?”

This pampered girl, who had been doted on her whole life, had no control over her emotions. The slightest bit of goading was enough to make Chi Yun’er shoot into the sky like a firecracker.

Bian Yumin had used this trick before, and it was incredibly effective. She was confident it would succeed this time as well.

Chi Yun’er glared at her. ”I know you’re very happy now that you’ve gotten everything you wanted. Do you have to come here and flaunt it in my face?”

Bian Yumin raised an eyebrow and smiled. ”Zishu said he has always thought of you as a sister and feels he has failed to return your deep feelings. I’m apologizing to you on his behalf.”

”But you can’t force feelings. I’m just returning your own words to you.”

”Still, I do feel quite guilty. If it weren’t for me, perhaps your patience would have paid off, and you and Zishu would be an official couple by now.”

Chi Yun’er was so angry she was about to slam her hand on the table and stand up.

Bian Yumin quickly grabbed her hand, using a clever bit of force to pull her toward the backyard. She smiled at Aunt Chun Gui and said, ”Auntie, I’m just borrowing Chi for a few words. We’ll be right under the eaves where you can see us.”

Then, whispering in Chi Yun’er’s ear, she began to lead her toward a more secluded spot. ”Chi, I’ll admit I was a little jealous of you, but I’m not really a bad person.”

”If my heart were truly that venomous, I would have pulled you off the bridge with me back then, not stupidly risked drowning myself just to frame you.”

Chi Yun’er sneered, ”So you finally admit it?”

Bian Yumin nodded. ”One shouldn’t do bad things. My conscience has been bothering me ever since.”

”I’m very happy now, so I want to do something to make you happy, too. I don’t want you to fall into despair and settle for just anyone because of me.”
