Chapter 2898: Chapter 2899: Interlude

Angel had not forgotten why he came here: to use Sweet Dreams to see whether a Mysterious Object of the Dream System could be pulled into the Wilderness of Dreams.

Unfortunately, the Mirror World could not log into the Wilderness of Dreams, and Sweet Dreams could not be taken out of the Mirror World, which left Angel completely at a loss.

Just when he was about to give up, a ”recklessly bold” idea suddenly surfaced in his mind.

Since the Mirror World couldn’t connect to the Wilderness of Dreams, then what if he built a new ”Wilderness of Dreams” inside the Mirror World?

Back then, Angel genuinely felt this was a very bold and very unreliable idea. But he had no other options. Besides, he was already here; if he didn’t use Sweet Dreams for an experiment, Angel would feel it was a regret.

In the end, Angel still bit the bullet and created a gigantic Nightmare Realm in the gap between the Mirror World and the Dream Realm.

He hadn’t expected that this brazen idea would actually succeed in the end.

Even now, though Angel could sense the Crystal Origin of Dreams at any time through the Gate of Dreams, he still had a hazy feeling as if he had just woken from a long dream.

However, dazed or not, Angel had not forgotten his original intention.

Since the Crystal Origin of Dreams had already been successfully incorporated into the territory, shouldn’t he be able to start the Sweet Dreams experiment?

Moreover, the Sweet Dreams experiment was very simple: he just needed to try to pull it into the Crystal Origin of Dreams...

”What are you doing?” Just as Angel was staring obsessively at the pink wind, Laplace’s voice came to his ears.

Angel turned around, and at some point, Laplace had already opened her eyes and come to his side.

Facing Laplace’s question, Angel did not hide anything and told her his thoughts—after all, Laplace also knew about the Dream Conch, so it was no big deal to tell her.

”This is your real purpose in borrowing Sweet Dreams, isn’t it?” Laplace sized Angel up from head to toe and spoke softly.

Angel chuckled dryly and did not deny it.

Laplace: ”Since you’re going to experiment, what are you hesitating over now?”

Angel: ”I’m worried.”

What he was worried about was: if a Mysterious Object of the Dream System really could be pulled into the Crystal Origin of Dreams, would it affect the newborn Crystal Origin of Dreams?

The Power of Laws in the Memory Garden could already have such a huge impact on the Crystal Origin of Dreams; wouldn’t a Mysterious Object have an even greater impact?

After hearing Angel’s concern, Laplace said calmly, ”The reason the Laws of reality affect the Crystal Origin of Dreams is because of the clash between Laws. According to what you said, the Crystal Origin of Dreams has its own underlying operating logic. For external operating Laws that are completely different, they will naturally collide with each other.”

”But Mysterious Objects are different. From a certain point of view, Mysterious Objects have already transcended the restrictions of Laws. Just like your Dream Conch at the Moonlit Coast: it works in reality, and it works just as well when it comes into the Mirror World. I believe that if you took it to any other world, it still wouldn’t diminish the effect of the Dream Conch.”

”A Mysterious Object will not have its effect altered because of a world’s Transmutation.”

”So, in my view, your worry is unnecessary.” Setting aside whether Sweet Dreams can be pulled into the Crystal Origin of Dreams— even if it really is pulled in, it won’t cause any impact.

”That’s what you say, but if Sweet Dreams is pulled into the Crystal Origin of Dreams, wouldn’t that mean there exist two completely identical Mysterious Objects? Is that even possible?” Angel reached out to rub his chin, thinking seriously.

Laplace almost rolled her eyes and said coolly, ”Isn’t that exactly the purpose of the experiment you want to run? The goal hasn’t even been achieved yet, and you’re already worrying about the result. That’s putting the cart before the horse.”

Angel: ”That... does kind of make sense.”

Laplace: ”If you’re still worried about the situation with Sweet Dreams, you can wait until Glaipnir gets here and have her do an Astrology Divination. I believe she... will definitely be very willing to divine for you.”

Glaipnir’s Astrology Divination had run into a total failure on Laplace, and as the main body of the Temporal Body Glaipnir, Laplace knew Glaipnir’s thoughts very well.

Other people might not be able to get a Divination from her, but Angel... as long as he requested one, Glaipnir would definitely do it.

Angel had actually already thought of using Prophecy and Divination-type methods to determine the safety, but the face that surfaced in his mind was Dororo’s. However, since Laplace mentioned Glaipnir, Angel thought it over and felt it was fine.

Anyway, it was just a Divination similar to a ”good luck either-or” or a ”lucky choice.”

...

The first to arrive at the mirrored space was Luigi. His appearance was, as always, accompanied by chanting and recitation.

”The Land of Gold hides its gold, the Kingdom of Gems holds its gems.”

”O treasure-seeking adventurer, from the Sky Island Maze to strange journeys upon the sea, whether lightning and thunder or raging storms and tsunamis, wherever brilliance dazzles, there your figure will be!”

”The Diamond Mountain is forged of diamonds, the Crystal Origin is paved in crystal.”

”O fearless, dauntless adventurer, from meteorites beyond the sky to wandering stardust, whether Knife Mountains and sword peaks or Otherworld needle plains, wherever Light blazes forth, there your silhouette will be!”

”He is the omnipotent adventurer, he is the handsome and dashing adventurer!”

”He is also the superstar adventurer beloved by countless fans—the great Lord Luigi!”

With three loud shouts of ”the great Lord Luigi,” Luigi strummed his Harp and stepped down from midair, one step at a time, until he arrived beside Angel and Laplace.

By the time he landed, the lingering notes had also just come to an end.

”We meet again.” Luigi pressed a hand to his Harp and gave Angel a slight bow. ”According to what my main body says, we should be friends now.”

Angel let out a dry laugh. ”Uh, oh, okay.”

Luigi was just about to say something when Laplace said coolly, ”Wait over there and shut your mouth.”

Luigi didn’t mind Laplace’s attitude. He followed along good-naturedly with a nod, then stopped a few meters away, half-sitting on a tree branch that hung like a swing, idly plucking his strings.

The sound of the Harp wasn’t particularly melodious, but his posture had all the pretentious flair it needed.

Laplace shot Luigi a glance, then turned back to Angel. ”Ignore him. He only went to experience Special Dreamlands so he could write what he thinks are ’better’ poems. He has no other use. Just pretend he doesn’t exist.”

Angel was stunned for a moment. ”You plan to let Luigi also enter the ’Greed Feast’?”

Laplace shook her head. ”Given his situation, if he entered the Greed Feast, he’d have no use beyond playing music for people’s entertainment.”

Angel: ”So, you’re planning to let him experience other Special Dreamlands instead?”

Laplace nodded. ”I was planning that, but if you disagree, we can just place him near the Forest of Memories and let him move around freely.”

Angel: ”You misunderstand, I’m not disagreeing... it’s just, I just checked inside the Crystal Origin of Dreams, and all those Crystal Creations made by the Wonderland of Dreams Authority have gone into Concealment. I still don’t know what triggers them.”

”Even that linkage dreamland ’Greed Feast’—if you hadn’t said it would appear three hours later, I wouldn’t have known where it is.”

Laplace: ”You mean, right now there are no Crystal Creations on the surface in the Crystal Origin of Dreams?”

Angel shook his head. ”Not exactly. At the moment there’s still one Crystal Creation that hasn’t gone into Concealment, and judging from the looks of it, it probably won’t conceal itself in the future either.”

When Angel said this, Laplace couldn’t help but cast a curious glance his way, and even Luigi’s harp playing beside them became quieter; clearly, he was also listening to what Angel had to say.

Angel paused for a moment, then began talking about the only Crystal Creation currently still visible in the Crystal Origin of Dreams: the Crystal Mountain.

Very quickly, Angel summarized the Crystal Mountain, and he also described the bizarre mountain path he’d seen through the Box Garden Perspective.

After he finished, Angel offered his own judgment. ”Since the Crystal Mountain can activate my Authority, there’s no doubt it’s a super‑large Crystal Creation created by the Wonderland of Dreams.”

”The original form of the Crystal Mountain is actually the Corpse Mountain piled up from those Magic Monsters you killed.”

”And the protagonists in the Special Dreamlands are basically those Magic Monsters. Just like that masked man you killed in Helen’s Dream—he was actually one of the Magic Monsters.”

”So, I suspect the Crystal Mountain might be a super‑large Special Dreamland composed of multiple Special Dreamlands.”

This is what’s called a composite‑type Special Dreamland, formed from too many Special Dreamlands linked together.

”Perhaps it’s precisely because there are multiple levels of Special Dreamlands within the Crystal Mountain that it hasn’t disappeared.”

Angel said this and looked at Laplace. ”The Crystal Mountain is very strange, and if my guess is correct, it has to be extremely dangerous inside. So if you want Luigi to experience a Special Dreamland, it’s best not to pick the Crystal Mountain for now.”

”After all, I currently have no data on Consciousness deaths in the Crystal Origin of Dreams. If Luigi’s Consciousness dies because of this, what would happen is still hard to say.”

Angel gave a sincere suggestion. After listening, Laplace pondered for a moment. ”I understand. Exploring the Crystal Mountain does require caution... Then later, just drop Luigi somewhere to wander around.”

Laplace had just finished when Luigi beside them protested. ”Don’t! I’m going to the Crystal Origin of Dreams to look for inspiration to write poems. Don’t throw me onto the boundless Crystal Origin; I won’t be able to write any good poems there either.”

When Laplace had contacted her Temporal Body, she had already told her about her experiences in the Crystal Origin of Dreams; so Luigi also knew the current state of the Crystal Origin of Dreams—basically an endless crystal plain.

Laplace: ”Then where do you want to go? Come with me to the Greed Feast? If you absolutely insist on following me, let me be clear: if there’s danger, I’ll only protect Glaipnir, not you.”

Luigi pouted aggrievedly. ”Th‑then putting me near the Crystal Mountain is fine too. Even if I don’t go in, just looking at the undulating mountain range should give me some inspiration.”

Laplace glanced at Angel, and Angel understood. ”Sure. The Crystal Mountain is right near the safe zone and the Forest of Memories. If Luigi wants to look at the Crystal Mountain, I can place him inside the safe zone.”

Luigi gave Angel a thumbs‑up. ”A friend really is a friend. You even took my safety into account.”

This sounded so stiff. Was it really necessary to deliberately add the ”friend” prefix? Angel thought so to himself, but on the surface he still smiled at Luigi in response.

After exchanging smiles, Angel turned his head to look at Laplace. ”If I didn’t misunderstand what you meant just now, you’re planning to have Glaipnir go to the Greed Feast with you?”

This time Laplace didn’t deny it, and nodded. ”Yes.”

Seeing the doubt flash in Angel’s eyes, Laplace said calmly, ”With Glaipnir there, at least I won’t repeat the mistake I made in Helen’s Dream.”

From Laplace’s answer it was clear she still hadn’t let go of that 1% exploration progress. So for this trip to explore the Greed Feast, she was willing to take on an extra person to protect just to bring Glaipnir along.

Laplace: ”By the way, later I might need you to help me with something.”

Angel said noncommittally, ”What is it?”

Laplace: ”Glaipnir will bring a special Astrological Disk. It’s a special Mysterious Object formed when I shed half of my body scales for the second time. It has some defensive capability, but it’s more related to Divination. I hope you can help pull it into the Crystal Origin of Dreams. If Glaipnir is going to enter the Greed Feast with me, we might need to use it for Divination.”

”I can.” Angel nodded. It was nothing more than a small favor. Besides, even if Laplace hadn’t mentioned it, Angel would still prepare some Defense scrolls for her Temporal Body to avoid them running into real trouble in the Crystal Origin of Dreams.

This could be considered a side effect of Angel letting the ”Wonderland of Dreams” return to the Crystal Origin of Dreams, because even he himself could no longer fully control the Wonderland of Dreams. Just in case, it was better to prepare more defensive items.

While they were talking, a crack appeared in the reflection space once again.

Angel thought Glaipnir had arrived, but when he looked up, he didn’t see the nebula background that represented Glaipnir. Instead, a small figure appeared.

This is... Laplace?

This Laplace was not that Laplace.

This was one of Laplace’s Temporal Bodies, and this Temporal Body was also called Laplace.

However, her appearance was completely different from that ”trashy woman”; she was a naïve and adorable little girl. She wore a pure‑white yet pinkish rabbit outfit, with rabbit‑ear hair clips on her head, and a carrot‑shaped satchel slung across her body, overflowing with childishness and innocence.

The Rabbit Girl’s entrance was completely different from Luigi’s. She showed up with no self‑accompanied aria, nor any nebula background. She simply sliced open a Space Rift, quietly dropped down from mid‑air, and hid behind Luigi’s back.

Her timid look actually matched her outfit quite well.

Angel still remembered that the reason this Rabbit Girl was also called Laplace was because this Temporal Body of the Rabbit Girl had integrated the most memories from Laplace’s true body. Luigi and Glaipnir, in contrast, had integrated more of the other memories from the Sea of Void Mirror.

”Lapla... I mean, she—she’s going with you to the ’Greed Feast’ as well.” Angel pointed at the Rabbit Girl.

Laplace shook her head. ”No. As for her, you decide.”

Angel: ”Huh? I decide?”

Laplace: ”Didn’t you say earlier that quite a few Dreamworld Sweepers missed some targets? You can have her deal with those leftover Magic Monsters. However, you’ll need to pull her satchel into the Crystal Origin of Dreams. In that satchel are Creations from my true body’s shed scales. They’re not as quick as directly bombarding Magic Monsters with scales, but they’re more about persistence, so you won’t have to constantly resupply her.”

Angel: ”...”

So Luigi is for poetry and music, Glaipnir is an Astrologer, and the Rabbit Girl is exclusively in charge of combat?

Angel truly found it hard to imagine that this seemingly seven‑ or eight‑year‑old, timid‑looking little girl was actually a battle loli.

But after thinking it through, Angel found it reasonable. After all, even if Luigi and Glaipnir had Laplace’s memories, they only possessed a small portion, whereas the Rabbit Girl held the majority. From the scales alone you could tell how vast and terrifying Laplace’s true body was. Since the Rabbit Girl had inherited the most from the true body, then her combat memories and combat abilities would presumably be the most outstanding as well.

Moreover, Laplace had made arrangements for the Rabbit Girl to fight those scattered Eliminators, which in itself was proof of her strength. With this in mind, Angel didn’t say anything more. He simply nodded, agreeing to throw the Rabbit Girl into the Battlefield of mopping‑up operations.
