Chapter 2884: Chapter 2885: The New Eliminator

The silent air gradually spread.

Angel and Laplace were silent at this moment, not bothering with the stray magic monsters, instead quietly watching the sky, waiting for the arrival of this wave of eliminators.

They didn’t have to wait long before a rift was torn open in the sky.

When Angel saw the size of the space rift, he frowned slightly.

Compared to the initial rift that the previous magic monster army tore open, this space rift was obviously larger. This also meant that the number of magic monsters arriving this time was unknown, but their size was likely larger than the previous ones.

Just how much larger, he didn’t know.

If the rift continued to expand, tearing apart the entire sky, they would have to run.

Angel’s gaze fixed on the rift, cautiously observing its expansion... However, something unexpected happened; apart from its initial appearance, the rift did not expand further?

Generally speaking, a space rift continuously struggles to enlarge until all the eliminators have entered, after which it slowly shrinks.

But now, the space rift opened up to a two-hundred-meter rift right from the start and then... it didn’t enlarge further?

This was much smaller than the four-hundred-meter rift caused by the previous magic monster army!

Angel’s initially worried eyes gradually changed: This time, they didn’t send a giant beast, did they?

So, is it possible now to use God’s View to see what the eliminators beyond the void are like?

When energy fluctuations appeared in the void, Angel quietly retracted his gaze, worried that there might be a giant beast, and his gaze might be captured by it, leaving him no chance to escape.

Therefore, Angel actually did not know what the eliminators in the void looked like.

However, seeing that the rift in the sky wasn’t large, did this mean that the eliminators in the void weren’t large either, and were the kind they could handle? So, is it okay now to use God’s View to see what it looks like?

Thinking of this, Angel slightly closed his eyes, preparing to sink his thoughts into the authority of the Gate of Dreams.

However, before he could completely close his eyes, he saw outside the rift in the air, a slender limb extending out, its tip like a sharp blade.

In less than a second, a second equally sharp limb appeared.

In the next two seconds, a third and fourth appeared... A total of ten limbs extended out from the void.

From a distance, the limbs appeared slim and sharp, long like tentacles, clinging to the sky like a curtain.

Although this scene was not as shocking as the Heavenly Eye in the Abyss’ Wilderness of Dreams, the sense of dread wasn’t any less.

”So many limbs, is it an arthropod?” Angel murmured softly.

Not long after speaking, the ten limbs in the sky began to separate, five limbs on each side of the space rift.

Then, under the surprised and doubtful eyes of Angel and Laplace, the five limbs on each side exerted force, and the thin line-like space rift was forcibly pulled open!

This scene truly shocked Angel.

One has to know, the previous magic monster army relied on tens of thousands in numbers to impact the space rift into a four-hundred-meter seam.

Yet no single magic monster could physically tear open the rift, especially not horizontally.

And now, this newly appeared magic monster did it.

This signified a magic monster capable of easily tearing open spaces.

Also, even if they defeated this magic monster, it would be difficult to kill it. It could tear open space at will and escape directly.

It’s like a Wizard using a Plane Corridor to forcibly retreat from the battlefield, there’s no way to counter it.

Furthermore, seeing how easily this magic monster tore open the space rift, it was uncertain if they could even fight it decisively.

Angel turned his gaze towards Laplace, whether to fight, dare to fight, or flee now, depended on Laplace’s decision.

However, Laplace didn’t immediately decide but said: ”Let’s assess the situation first. I have a feeling this magic monster is different from the previous ones.”

”Different from the previous magic monsters?” Angel observed intently for a moment; so far, only ten limbs had emerged, and he couldn’t tell any differences just by looking at that.

”What’s different?” Was it different in strength?

Laplace shook her head without elaborating. She found it hard to articulate clearly now, but having slain many magic monsters before, she was quite familiar with them. This not-yet-fully-revealed magic monster gave her a notably different feeling.

As they conversed, the torn rift had reached a hundred meters.

Through the dark rift, Angel could vaguely see a pair of eerie pale eyes lighting up in the void.

But these eyes had no whites, resembling dead fish eyes.

As Angel wondered what kind of magic monster it was, it finally poked its head out.

When Angel saw the monster’s head, his expression seemed frozen by cold ice, rigid and speechless for a long time.

On the other side, Laplace was also stunned, because the monster’s head was... incredibly odd.

On top was an enormous bulge, even larger than the entire head, smooth and black, with tiny greyish patterns, somewhat resembling the bulge on a fish’s head.

And its face... was fish-like, with bizarrely pale eyes and gills that perpetually opened and closed.

Its chin had two whiskers, curling up like a goat’s beard.

The entire head resembled a hybrid of a fish and a goat fish.

A tad absurd, and a bit bizarre.

Once its head emerged, the ten limbs clung to the sky, using the sky as a wall for support, a gentle push enabled its body and abdomen to come through.

At this point, the true appearance of the magic monster was fully revealed.

Seeing its body and abdomen, Angel fell silent once again.

Its body resembled that of humans, with shoulders, chest, and hands identical to humans, even down to the five fingers. However, its skin was black, and the body bore layers of ”armor plates”.

These plates were curved, semicircular, with thin long tendrils, and sturdy upturned spikes, much like the shell of a horseshoe crab.

Its abdomen was the largest part of its body, an enormous oval, with all limbs extending from underneath it.

Overall, it appeared as a magic monster pieced together from various grotesque creatures.

But if one were truly to categorize it, Angel thought it leaned more towards... spider.

Angel had once encountered a Special Undead called Lady Cilla, whose form was human-headed with a spider body.

And this magic monster, on the whole, seemed like a hundred-fold version of Lady Cilla. Except, the human head had mutated into a fish’s head.

So, taking everything into account, it still leans towards a spider-type magic monster.

This spider magic monster is also something Angel has never seen before, and ”Where is the Magical Beast” does not record any similar creatures. Angel could only turn his gaze to Laplace, hoping for an answer from her.

Laplace shook her head: ”I haven’t seen it either.”

Angel sighed regretfully: ”That’s normal, probably some kid dreamt of this monster again.”

In the Dream Realm, many bizarre monsters are basically born from dreams. And children’s dreams, limited by their cognition, are often influenced by adults scaring them, leading them to imagine wildly and dream at night, making bizarre shapes more likely.

Laplace also heard Angel’s lament, but she kept silent this time.

The reason is the same as before, she vaguely felt something was amiss; this spider monster felt different from the Eliminator army before... She even slightly doubted whether this spider monster truly belonged to the Dream Realm?

While Laplace was pondering this, the spider monster in the sky lowered its head.

Its dead fish eyes, emitting an eerie glow, stared directly at the two of them on Corpse Mountain.

A chill ran down Angel’s spine, he turned to Laplace and said: ”It’s up to you, deal with it if you can, if not, we retreat!”

With that, Angel’s figure instantly disappeared, and when he reappeared, he was already in the safe zone far away.

Angel had originally wanted to bring the Fungal Bloom over as well, but seeing Laplace intending to keep the battle location near Corpse Mountain, he let the Fungal Bloom continue maintaining space stability there...

After Angel returned to the safe zone, the spider monster seemed unwilling to let him off, it gently turned its head, keeping its cold gaze locked on Angel.

Even with the protection of the dome in the safe zone, the pressure from those eyes was no less.

Angel felt a little jittery under that gaze.

Clearly, Laplace was more dazzling, her energy was practically like a lamp in the night sky, reaching the clouds. Why was this spider monster fixated on him? Was it picking the soft fruit to pinch?

Angel felt a bit tearful, he secretly pondered: maybe he should hide in reality for a while?

However, before Angel could decide, Laplace had already rushed towards the sky.

If Laplace did not move, the spider monster’s gaze would have stayed on Angel, but once Laplace made a move towards the spider monster, even if it didn’t want to bother with Laplace, it still turned its gaze towards her.

As soon as Laplace flew into the sky, she unleashed a dazzling rain of scales.

Even detached from her body, Laplace’s scales could be controlled as if an extension of herself, she waved a hand, dozens of scales shot towards the spider monster like darts.

The spider monster’s ten limbs leisurely swung in the air, trying to dodge the scales.

However, Laplace could control when the scales exploded; as long as they got close to the spider monster, even if they didn’t touch it, she could directly detonate them.

This dashed the spider monster’s hopes of evading through agility.

Although several consecutive explosions didn’t directly hit its body, they clearly angered the spider monster. Initially, those eerie dead fish eyes were aimed at Angel, now, they were locked onto Laplace.

Under that eerie gaze, Laplace felt a hint of discomfort, but with the scales protecting her, the feeling quickly dissipated.

The spider monster emitted a strange cry, and with it, all ten limbs rose, pointing at Laplace; its abdomen curled like a bee, its stinger aimed at her too.

A sudden burst of white light.

Strands of thread flashing with a faint glow shot from the sharp edges of its limbs, from the center of its stinger, furiously stabbing at Laplace.

Laplace’s speed was extreme, quickly dodging the first wave, but the threads didn’t break, continuing to track her.

During this, the top of Corpse Mountain was directly sliced by the threads, and the surrounding Thorny Forest, looking sturdy, couldn’t withstand their sharpness, getting half cut with a gentle slice.

With such terrifying sharpness, if they slashed onto her body, undoubtedly, she would be split in two.

The most frightening part was the threads’ high strength and extreme speed.

Several times Laplace barely dodged in time.

Once she evaded, she wasted no time retaliating with scales.

The threads were more resilient than Laplace imagined, even exploded scales couldn’t break them. It took several exploding scales before one thread was finally blasted into two.

The severed thread didn’t fall but transformed into light dots, absorbed back by the spider monster.

Seeing this, Angel’s brows furrowed; it appeared this spider monster was not afraid of explosions? Moreover, even blown-off threads could autonomously return?

In that case, Laplace’s scales were not as useful as before.

However, though this spider monster was tougher than the previous ones, Angel felt slightly relieved: the Space Rift had closed, and presently there seemed to be only this one Eliminator.

Moreover, this spider monster, although large, hadn’t reached the point of being able to shatter the Crystal Origin of Dreams in one hit.

This bought them time.

While Angel was contemplating, he heard Laplace’s voice: ”Put away the Thorny Forest and leave this place. I’m preparing to go all out; you get ready to provide me with new scales!”

Putting away the Thorny Forest was necessary because its wall couldn’t block the threads and instead hindered Laplace’s movements. Therefore, when confronting the spider monster, the Thorny Forest not only couldn’t help but could potentially harm Laplace; it had to be removed.

And when Laplace said ’going all out’, she meant detonating all her scales at once.

Angel had witnessed this power; Corpse Mountain was created by several such ’big’ explosions, extremely terrifying. Facing such bombardment, even a third-level wizard in reality might have to avoid the edge.

Angel nodded, telling Laplace to be careful, then logged out.

Seeing Angel disappear from the safe zone, Laplace didn’t hesitate to detonate all her scales at the spider monster.

The spider monster probably didn’t expect Laplace to suddenly use such a ”self-destructive” move, so it didn’t dodge.

The massive explosion instantly turned the sky red.

Laplace stood near the explosion site, observing the blown-off limbs and fish head with delight.

It seemed that it’s not about if explosions work, but requiring a large dose for them to work!

See, no matter how formidable the monster looked, it couldn’t withstand the scales’ bombardment.

Just as Laplace was excited, the blasted limbs and fish head suddenly emitted a peculiar radiance, swiftly merging back together.

In Laplace’s bewildered gaze, a new spider monster was born so unexpectedly.

Moreover, under the peculiar radiance, the originally severed limbs and fish head of the spider monster regenerated, as if reborn.

It meant that Laplace’s bombardment not only failed to kill the spider monster but also birthed a new one!?

Faced with spider monsters both front and back, Laplace’s brows knit tightly.
