Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2882: Chapter 2883: Consolidation

Angel’s choice was to tackle it from both ends.

He consciously began to control the spreading speed of the Thorny Forest, directing it toward a space that he found relatively stable, which would become the final gathering point for all the magic creatures.

Although the gathering point that Angel chose seemed quite stable to him, who knows what the scene would be after Laplace, blinded with bloodlust, fired multiple scale molts at it.

So, it’s better to reinforce it a bit just in case.

With this in mind, Angel logged out once more.

After returning to the mirrored space, Angel continued to supply scale molts to Laplace while pondering how to stabilize the space.

Angel had gained a lot of knowledge about space from the Dalmatian, which included various methods to stabilize it, giving Angel no less than ten options to choose from.

However, after a moment’s thought, he didn’t choose from the spatial knowledge transmitted by the Dalmatian.

Instead, he opened the Luxury Nightmare Realm and took out a red-spotted round-cap mushroom.

—The Fungal Bloom.

This was one of the important strategic items Angel brought back from Xinnai Land, a peculiar mushroom cultivated by Minister of Agriculture Nuka, used to stabilize the spatial fluctuations of a semi-dimensional space.

The Nightmare Realm is actually a kind of alternative semi-dimensional space; the Wilderness of Dreams, the fragmented Dream Wilderness, and the currently-cleansing Crystal Origin of Dreams all belong to variations of the Nightmare Realm.

So, theoretically, the Fungal Bloom is actually quite suitable for the current situation.

The reason it’s ”theoretically” suitable is because Angel had never personally experienced the effects of the Fungal Bloom in practical use.

The reason is simple; the Wilderness of Dreams had been developing for a very long time and was extremely stable, rendering the Fungal Bloom unnecessary.

Moreover, the Fungal Bloom is a ”living thing,” which the Dream Conch cannot drag into the dream. Angel speculated that perhaps using the Dream Entering Technique could bring the Fungal Bloom into the Wilderness of Dreams, but this would pose another problem: once the Fungal Bloom entered the Wilderness of Dreams through the Dream Entering Technique, would it still retain the ability to stabilize spatial fluctuations?

Just like when Laplace entered the Wilderness of Dreams, if Angel hadn’t sent the scale molts in, she would have lost all her powers.

Would the Fungal Bloom, like other living things, enter the Wilderness of Dreams with only a ”shell of consciousness,” losing its essential abilities?

This requires a personal experiment to determine the effect.

But before Angel could conduct any experiment, ”Mushroom Witch” Regina, whom he had invited from Sky Mechanical City to help with mushroom research, arrived at the Barbarian Cave, and the first batch of items given to Regina for research included the Fungal Bloom.

Thus, Angel abandoned the idea of conducting the experiment.

Later, after entrusting the Fungal Bloom to Regina, Angel didn’t pay much attention until recently when Regina announced that she had cultivated a new Fungal Bloom, leading Angel to retrieve the original Fungal Bloom.

However, even with it in his possession, Angel hadn’t tested it because the Fungal Bloom, after months of research by Regina, had become very thin and dry, like a body hollowed out.

In such circumstances, Angel decided it was unwise to continue researching the Fungal Bloom and placed it in the Luxury Nightmare Realm. With the nourishment of the Nightmare Realm’s aura, it gradually ”came to life” again.

Not only did it plump up, but also, like Mizuki, it loved to poke its head out everywhere.

Earlier, when Angel took it out of the Luxury Nightmare Realm, it was still growing as an ornament on a toy soldier’s head.

Luckily, like Mizuki, it recognized Angel as its ”master,” so Angel could easily take it off; otherwise, once it burrowed, who knows where it would have gone.

Angel held the Fungal Bloom in his hand, attempting to communicate with it.

Unfortunately, this fellow’s intelligence was too low to understand.

After a moment’s thought, Angel abandoned the idea of communicating with it and directly used the Dream Entering Technique on it.

In anxious anticipation, it wasn’t long before the Fungal Bloom lay limp and drowsily in Angel’s palm.

”It can enter the dream.” Angel’s eyes brightened!

Since the Fungal Bloom can enter the dream, it’s time to consider another issue: after the Fungal Bloom enters the Crystal Origin of Dreams, will it still possess the ability to stabilize spatial fluctuations?

According to Angel’s thoughts, if the Fungal Bloom could find the location of the Crystal Origin of Dreams with its physical form, it would definitely stabilize spatial fluctuations.

But now, as the Fungal Bloom enters by the Dream Entering method, it’s hard to say.

However, Angel hasn’t completely lost hope; if Laplace can transform into a War Goddess through scale molts, perhaps there’s a way for the Fungal Bloom to restore its space-stabilizing powers as well.

As for what that method might be, Angel could only think of one thing: the Nightmare Realm aura.

Can providing the Fungal Bloom with sufficient Nightmare Realm aura enable it to activate its power in the Crystal Origin of Dreams?

Thinking of it, he acted.

Angel pinpointed the landing spot of the Fungal Bloom in a safe zone. He also entered this safe zone.

Upon entering the safe zone, Angel immediately found the still-dazed Fungal Bloom, picked it up from the ground and spread it out in his right palm, continuously channeling the Nightmare Realm aura into its body through the green pattern on his right hand.

To create an environment more suitable for the Fungal Bloom’s survival, Angel also used God’s View to manipulate the Nightmare Realm aura flowing from the Nightmare Realm Portal in the void, gathering all these auras within the safe zone.

As the Nightmare Realm aura became increasingly dense, Angel could clearly feel strange energy bursting forth from the Fungal Bloom’s interior.

And this strange energy was something Angel had only perceived in reality before!

Does this mean the Fungal Bloom has already restored its ability to stabilize space?

Angel decided to test it out.

He placed the Fungal Bloom on a glass container and then shouted at Laplace in the air.

Laplace had just killed a six-eyed flying fish monster, and as she turned back, she saw something being tossed up from below.

Since Angel continuously supplied the scale molts, Laplace’s observation skills for suddenly appearing objects around was very keen. The Fungal Bloom hadn’t even been thrown ten meters high before Laplace swiftly snatched it in her hand.

She originally thought it was some auxiliary tool given to her by Angel, but upon looking down, she found a small mushroom in a glass container.

Most intriguing was that this tiny mushroom was trembling, like it was frightened.

Is this a living thing?

Why would Angel give her a live mushroom? Could it have some nourishing properties for her to consume?

Laplace pinched the mushroom and subconsciously prepared to swallow it down, following the conventional thought.

However, just at that moment, Angel’s voice came through: ”Don’t eat it; it’s for my experiment!”

An experiment? You’re still in the mood to conduct an experiment at this moment? Laplace frowned, but she returned the mushroom to the glass container, casually unleashing a spray of scale molts at distant magic creatures while transmitting a message to Angel: ”What experiment are you planning with this mushroom? At this time, you’re doing an experiment? You want me to experiment?”

Laplace’s three questions also showed the displeasure in her heart.

Angel quickly explained the role of the mushroom.

”This is the Mushroom Witch, I don’t know if you know her, but anyway, she’s an alchemist researching mushrooms who created this special mushroom...”

”It’s a living creature, I couldn’t send it with the Dream Conch, so I had to use the Dream Entering Technique...”

”...although I’ve made some remedial measures, I still don’t know if it still maintains space stability, so I need you to experiment with it.”

Upon hearing this, Laplace understood Angel’s intention. He wanted her to test whether the Fungal Bloom still has the effect of maintaining space stability.

The bombardment from the shed scales did indeed weaken the space, even posing the risk of causing nearby space to oscillate and collapse.

Laplace was also worried.

Upon confirming that Angel wasn’t creating problems and was truly considering the reality, Laplace naturally wouldn’t refuse this experiment.

”By the way, although it’s very sturdy, be sure not to damage it... You should know the testing rules from shallow to deep, right?”

Laplace: ”I understand.”

Although she had never conducted an experiment herself, she had seen the Sage conduct similar experiments and could imitate them.

Under Angel’s tense and anxious gaze, Laplace threw the Fungal Bloom 200 meters away, and then she dropped the first shed scale about 100 meters away. This shed scale was debris from the hair, with the weakest bombing effect, single debris might not even kill the magic monsters.

However, when dealing with magic monsters, Laplace pulled dozens or hundreds of shed scales from her hair, making the bombing effect significant.

Now, for the experiment, she chose the weakest bombing effect.

The first explosion... the space showed no signs of disturbance, and the Fungal Bloom had no issues.

Although it was just debris, previously during Laplace’s bombardment, the bombed space would show slight light distortion, but now there’s none?

Is this the effect of the Fungal Bloom? Or did she misjudge?

Laplace continued testing, this time she exploded two pieces of debris, similarly, there was no spatial disturbance.

Three pieces, four pieces, ten pieces... Laplace even pulled down a hundred pieces of debris, and the explosion affected the ground below, creating a large hole, but the area where the Fungal Bloom was remained undisturbed.

This situation was absolutely impossible before!

Laplace was now somewhat excited, no longer using debris, but directly using the shed scales.

Again, she started with one piece, then gradually increased to ten pieces, twenty pieces.

Later, with Angel’s help, Laplace used a whole shed scale for bombardment, and the space still showed no disturbance.

This involved nearly a thousand complete shed scales, enough to kill thousands of magic monsters if used on them!

Most importantly, as the Fungal Bloom is a living creature, it also has the ability to seek good fortune and avoid disaster. In the face of large-scale explosions, it would actively hide in space to avoid harm.

Laplace bombed for several minutes, yet the Fungal Bloom remained unscathed!

”No more testing, its strength is definitely adequate! By the way,” Laplace couldn’t help but look at Angel, ”Do you have more of these mushrooms?”

Angel joyfully retrieved the Fungal Bloom back to the safe zone, confirmed everything was correct, then said to Laplace, ”Yes, but it doesn’t stabilize space in reality.”

The effects of the Fungal Bloom only apply in half-planes.

Perhaps it’s targeted space stability only in half-planes, providing optimized results that completely surpassed Angel’s understanding!

Other space reinforcement methods Angel can currently arrange can’t compare to the Fungal Bloom!

However, this is only true in the Nightmare Realm; if returned to reality, the Fungal Bloom is virtually useless.

But that’s more than enough!

Among all the mushrooms brought from Xinnai Land, Angel wasn’t optimistic about the Fungal Bloom, but now he realizes he’s wrong.

The role of the Fungal Bloom absolutely surpassed expectations!

The Crystal Origin of Dreams is only a beginning; if he decides to expand his territory in other worlds in the future, the Fungal Bloom’s role will immediately become apparent.

Now, being able to ward off Laplace’s comprehensive bombardment is already quite powerful.

If the Fungal Bloom can be cultivated to the extreme, is it possible that even huge dream realm creatures can’t tear half-planes?

If that’s the case, expanding the territory in the future would be very easy, wouldn’t it?

Angel let out a long sigh, casting aside these unrealistic thoughts; it has been confirmed that under the nourishment of the Nightmare Realm’s aura, the Fungal Bloom can restore space stability.

So, the next steps are much simpler.

Place the Fungal Bloom at the final monster gathering spot, and once the end times come, Laplace can unleash fierce bombardment; this time the Eliminator should be eliminated, right?

Thinking of this, Angel took the Fungal Bloom offline.

By the time the Fungal Bloom came online again, Angel had already placed it in the appropriate position.

Next, it’s just waiting for the final moment to arrive...

...

Compared to the Sea of Electrocution, the spread rate of the Thorny Forest was much slower.

However, about two hours later, the Thorny Forest finally spread to the final ”arena of decision.”

Following Angel’s indication, Laplace began to slowly move her position towards the Final Land.

Meanwhile, those magic monsters, lacking much intelligence, seeing Laplace leaving, thought victory was in sight for them and immediately chased after.

Angel chose the Final Land to be at the center of the Sea of Electrocution, so those magic monsters weren’t frightened away by the electrocution effect and followed Laplace to the vicinity of the Final Land.

Arriving here, Laplace didn’t idle, continuing to bomb the monsters.

Now it’s just waiting for the Thorny Forest to completely cover other areas, leaving a gap for this Final Land. At that time, ninety-nine percent of the magic monsters will be gathered here; once they’re all killed, everything will be over.

As for the remaining sporadic magic monsters, they can slowly be slain later. After all, they can’t cause much trouble.
