Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2862: Chapter 2863: Approval

”Why, do you have doubts about my choice?” Seeing Angel sometimes looking grave and sometimes frowning, Caroline couldn’t help but ask.

Angel shook his head: ”No, I am just pondering Ms. Caroline’s question.”

Caroline: ”Do you have an answer then?”

”Unfortunately, not yet. Whether or not to let Earl Mi awaken for the second time, I need to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. However, I haven’t fully grasped the complications involved.”

Upon hearing Angel’s sincere response, Caroline couldn’t help but laugh: ”I was merely posing the question for you to think about ahead of time, not expecting you to seriously consider it.”

In Caroline’s view, Angel won’t be able to make Earl Mi awaken the second time in a short period, so there’s no need to be overly concerned.

Just keep these considerations in mind to avoid being caught off guard if such a day actually comes, leading to regret over the choice made.

Angel chuckled without further explanation and instead raised another issue: ”If Earl Mi has the opportunity for a second awakening now, how much would his strength increase?”

”You not only care about it, but you also have quite a rosy imagination.” Caroline first teased, but she still provided Angel with an answer: ”It won’t increase much.”

”Transcendence, for awakened Demon People, is a kind of metamorphosis. The metamorphosis itself doesn’t increase their strength significantly; rather, it extends their future potential.”

If you compare it to a bucket, metamorphosis is like the total water quantity in the bucket remains unchanged, but the capacity of the bucket increases. How far they can reach in the future depends on the Liberator themselves.

”Although overall strength won’t increase dramatically, the second awakening will still bring some changes in abilities, such as controlling some awakened Demon People, or acquiring some special talents, etc.”

”However, if Earl Mi truly successfully transcends now, it would also pose a threat to you.”

”I don’t know how you control him. If he successfully transcends and breaks free from your control, have you considered the consequences?”

”Moreover, the value of a Liberator is completely different from that of an awakened Demon People. There has long been speculation in the Origin World that Liberators are inextricably linked with the hidden secrets of the Panic Realm, thus many Wizards are keen to capture Liberators for research.”

”But Liberators won’t leave the Panic Realm easily, and in the Panic Realm, it’s very challenging for Wizards to deal with Liberators.”

”Therefore, if Earl Mi truly becomes a Liberator and is discovered by someone with intentions, it could endanger your life. So, there’s no need to consider Earl Mi’s second awakening now; wait until your strength is enough to venture alone in the Panic Realm, then it’s not too late to consider.”

Angel nodded: ”I understand.”

He could sense that Caroline was genuinely giving him advice, so even if he had other thoughts in mind, he wouldn’t disregard Caroline’s caution.

...

Amid Angel and Caroline’s conversation, a rustling sound suddenly came from the wall beside them.

Caroline turned her head in confusion and immediately noticed a dog hole appearing in the wall.

Caroline’s eyes lit up: ”Is it Little Treasures? Little Treasures, come out quickly, I haven’t seen you for a long time, let me hug you.”

After a period of silence, a slightly awkward voice emerged from the dog hole: ”Lady Caroline, it is Geng... it’s Big Treasures.”

”Oh, it’s Big Treasures.” Caroline sighed with a face of disappointment: ”Where’s Little Treasures, where did he go?”

Genggui: ”Little Treasures is with mother.”

Caroline furrowed her brows, not particularly fond of You Nu, because she also knew that You Nu is truly obedient not to the Wise Sovereign but rather to Adanis.

However, although Caroline didn’t like You Nu, she wouldn’t express it in front of her children: ”Then where’s Two Treasures?”

”Two Treasures... said just now he’d come along with me, but suddenly said he’s not coming anymore.” Genggui murmured.

”Suddenly not coming?” Caroline squinted, a dangerous glint flashing in her eyes.

After pondering for a moment, Caroline asked: ”Why are you here, is there something for the Wise Sovereign?”

Big Treasures wasn’t sure whether to answer, remaining silent for a while.

At this moment, the Wise Sovereign helped out: ”He indeed has something for me and Angel.”

”What is it?” Caroline turned to look at the Wise Sovereign.

Wise Sovereign: ”It’s nothing major, it’s just that Angel wants to borrow my Sweet Dream for some research, needing Big Treasures to guide him to the Mirror Domain.”

”Research on Sweet Dream...” Caroline nodded in understanding. She wasn’t surprised by this answer after knowing that Angel had touched on mystical levels and was an Alchemist.

Wise Sovereign: ”Do you want to join?”

Caroline shook her head: ”While alive, I was somewhat interested in listening about Alchemy, but now, ha, no interest.”

After speaking, Caroline stood up, moved to the side, and said to the Wise Sovereign: ”By the way, you can sense Two Treasures through the Magical Energy Array, right? Tell me, where is Two Treasures now, I’ll go to find him. Haven’t seen him in a long time, I still miss that little, cute one.”

While talking, Caroline paced back and forth.

Initially, Angel had no idea what Caroline was doing until a pitiable voice came from behind Caroline, revealing her intention.

”Lady Caroline, you’re blocking me.” Genggui said, aggrieved.

Caroline snorted coldly: ”Shut your mouth! I’ve blocked you, meaning you shouldn’t talk.”

Genggui: ”But, but... Two Treasures said he’s going into seclusion, won’t be back for a while...”

Caroline turned her head, sternly yelling: ”I told you to shut up, didn’t you understand?”

Genggui flinched, immediately silencing.

Caroline looked again at the Wise Sovereign: ”Where’s Two Treasures?”

Wise Sovereign hesitated for a moment, still caught in Caroline’s threatening gaze before saying: ”It’s now at the Gemini Tower in the east outside square of the Hanging Jail Stairway.”

Caroline: ”Specific location.”

Wise Sovereign: ”On the top floor Bell Tower, behind the third clock face from left to right.”

Caroline smirked: ”I remember that clock face’s color is also pitch-black, making a hole there really hard to discover... Have to admit, that little cute one hides quite well.”

”It’s just right that I haven’t teased those Ghosteye Witches in a long time, when I go to find it, I’ll go play with them.”

After speaking, Caroline glanced at Angel: ”If you have any more questions, just have Big Treasures pass the message to me, I’m off to vent and relax.”

”After sleeping for so long, I feel like my bones are getting loose.” Caroline said while drifting towards the door.

Watching Caroline’s gracefully departing figure, Angel thought silently to himself: Vent and relax, but why does it sound like it’s life-threatening? And can the soul feel the looseness of bones? Could the soul have phantom limb pain?

The atmosphere lingered in silence for a while before the Wise Sovereign somewhat awkwardly chuckled: ”Caroline remains the same, full of life, ha ha.”

Angel: ”She is indeed full of life, but does Ms. Caroline have a feud with Two Treasures? Why does it seem like Two Treasures is hiding from her?”

Wise Sovereign shook his head: ”There’s no feud. It’s just that Two Treasures isn’t quite adapted to Caroline’s... affection.”

Wise Sovereign sighed briefly, simply recounting Caroline’s past with the Cyclops Family:

Who knows if it’s from staying in the Underground Aqueduct too long, affecting Caroline’s aesthetic, or truly her unique aesthetic sense. Anyway, since the Cyclops Family’s inception, she’s been very attentive and passionately expressing admiration.

Including Big Treasures alike.

Don’t look at how she’s somewhat indifferent to Big Treasures now, but actually at the time of Big Treasures’ initial birth, Caroline quite adored it.

However, as time passed, Big Treasures’ demeanor grew increasingly steady, progressively resembling a sluggish version of the Wise Sovereign, eliciting some displeasure in Caroline.

Nonetheless, Caroline didn’t take out this emotion upon Big Treasures, instead attributing it all to the Wise Sovereign’s incorrect guiding.

Thus, after Two Treasures and Little Treasures were born, Caroline initiated her ”nurturing plan.”

The enlightenment education of Erbao and Xiaobao was basically taken over by Caroline.

In a sense, Erbao and Xiaobao hold more respect for their enlightenment mentor Caroline than for the Wise Sovereign.

A thousand years ago, when Caroline passed away, Erbao even shed tears — according to Xiaobao — which speaks volumes.

However, even though Caroline personally taught Erbao and Xiaobao, she ended up feeling a bit frustrated with the results. Xiaobao was fine—innocent, mischievous, and very clingy—but Caroline liked Xiaobao the most.

Erbao went a little astray, resembling the Wise Sovereign more than Dabaobao. Erbao’s thoughts and depth of perception were sometimes so profound that even the Wise Sovereign couldn’t tell what Erbao was thinking.

Therefore, each time Caroline saw Erbao, she felt deeply pained.

Nonetheless, Caroline didn’t discontinue Erbao’s education the way she did with Dabaobao. She believed it was her educational methods that went wrong, leading Erbao down the ”wrong path.”

Hence, her guidance for Erbao not only didn’t relax, but became more meticulous as Erbao grew up.

Whenever Caroline encountered Erbao, she would seize the opportunity for heartfelt instruction.

These sessions ranged from one or two days to two or three months, sometimes even half a year.

Moreover, Erbao didn’t dare to escape, nor dared to lay a hand on Caroline. So now, when Erbao spots Caroline, the only reaction is to avoid her.

One could say, facing the Cyclops Family, Caroline holds a deterrence even the Wise Sovereign couldn’t achieve.

Sometimes Erbao might not be too sincere in facing the Wise Sovereign, but it’s different when facing Caroline. If caught, Erbao couldn’t afford to be distracted, as Caroline would continually assess him: ”What did I just say? Do you understand? What’s your insight? You don’t understand? Let me explain it again.”

Whenever Erbao made a slight mistake, Caroline would blame herself doubly, resulting in a significant increase in teaching duration.

Thus, when encountering Caroline, Erbao would be on edge, remaining highly vigilant every second.

Therefore, as soon as Erbao sensed Caroline’s presence, he would flee immediately.

This time was no different. Originally, Erbao planned to come with Dabaobao since only Erbao could successfully locate Laplace’s Temporal Body in the Sea of Void Mirror. Hence Dabaobao found Erbao to go to the Sea of Void Mirror, and naturally returned together after getting Laplace’s answer.

Yet, upon sensing Caroline awake in the lounge, Erbao immediately dropped the excuse of going into seclusion for practice, abandoning Dabaobao and running away.

Caroline wasn’t foolish; hearing Dabaobao’s words, she instantly understood Erbao was avoiding her.

This behavior infuriated Caroline.

She rarely woke up, merely wishing to see them. Dare to flee from me?

Thus, after confirming Angel had no other issues, Caroline turned decisively to leave, preparing to catch Erbao.

”I thought only You Nu could restrain Erbao, turns out he fears someone else too,” Angel remarked.

Wise Sovereign: ”Rather than fear, it’s better described as reverence.”

Angel was about to speak when suddenly, a figure emerged halfway from the wall of the lounge.

It was Caroline, who had left but now hurriedly returned!

Caroline, stripped of her previous imposing departure, appeared puzzled: ”Why is Adanis outside? And who are those people out there? How come Adanis is sitting with them, most importantly, she didn’t get angry?!”

Wise Sovereign: ”Ahem, regarding this... it’s quite a long story. But it’s somewhat related to Angel and the others. If you’re interested, I’ll explain it to you later.”

Pausing, Wise Sovereign continued: ”Weren’t you going to find Erbao? Erbao actually knows roughly about it. You can also ask him without any issue.”

”Alright, I’ll go ask Erbao.” With incredulity, Caroline exited through the wall again, disappearing from sight.

After waiting two minutes to ensure Caroline had really left, Wise Sovereign then said: ”Caroline’s matter, let’s set it aside for now. As she mentioned, you can inquire about anything later. She shouldn’t fall into slumber again anytime soon.”

Putting away the Soul Soothing Stone from the table, Wise Sovereign looked at Genggui: ”Back to the main topic, did you get an answer from Laplace?”

Genggui: ”I didn’t enter the Sea of Void Mirror, it was Erbao who went in. After coming out, Erbao informed me that Laplace agreed to Mr. Angel’s request.”

”Erbao said once Angel enters the Mirror Domain, she would follow the trail to find him,”

Angel, upon hearing this, felt delighted.

Previously, when Laplace left, it was with great determination. Moreover, Laplace displayed indifference from beginning to end, so Angel wasn’t confident Laplace would agree.

Now, having received a definite answer, he was somewhat relieved.

Regarding the problem of the Sweet Dream, he currently didn’t have a good solution. However, he had a vague idea in mind, but whether it could take shape and be further completed, Angel needed to wait and see.

Furthermore, this idea required a deeper understanding of the Mirror Domain.

On this aspect, Laplace might be of help.

”Since Laplace is willing to help you, are you planning to enter the Mirror Domain now, or wait?” Wise Sovereign asked.

After pondering, Angel responded: ”I’ll wait a bit. I don’t know how long this research will take, I should go notify others first.”

Wise Sovereign nodded: ”Alright, I’ll let Genggui accompany you. Call its name directly when you’re about to enter the Mirror Domain.”

Having spoken, Wise Sovereign’s gaze gradually unfocused, appearing on the verge of deep contemplation.

Angel had already reached the main entrance, but suddenly remembered something, turned back to ask: ”With just Wise Sovereign and me now, and Adanis absent, doesn’t Wise Sovereign have any issues to raise?”

A brief silence ensued.

Angel assumed Wise Sovereign wouldn’t speak, turning to leave. But just as he stepped out the door, Wise Sovereign softly asked: ”Has he mentioned Naraku?”

Who is ”he”? Wise Sovereign didn’t disclose his name.

But Angel knew, Wise Sovereign surely guessed the person Angel previously withheld — Augustine.

”Mentioned.” Angel didn’t hide this time.

Upon hearing the answer, Wise Sovereign’s eyes suddenly brightened.

Angel could clearly see that although Wise Sovereign appeared calm, his abruptly paused hand and uncontrollably trembling lips openly conveyed his inner excitement.

After a while, Wise Sovereign finally gathered his courage to ask: ”How is Naraku now?”

Angel was silent for a moment: ”Are you sure you want to ask, even if the answer isn’t ideal?”

Though Angel didn’t provide an answer, his reminder did reveal some information.

With the wisdom of Wise Sovereign, how could he not comprehend Angel’s hint?

Wise Sovereign hesitated for a while, closed his eyes, and after a significant pause decided to ask: ”Is he still alive?”

Angel: ”Alive.”

”Will he return?”

Angel: ”I don’t know, maybe he will. But even if he does return, whether he’s still the Naraku of the past, whether he’s the Naraku you’ve been waiting for, that’s debatable.”

Wise Sovereign: ”Did he say this?”

Angel nodded: ”Yes.”

Wise Sovereign lowered his head: ”I understand...”

Angel cast a deep look at Wise Sovereign, said nothing more, pushed open the door, and walked out.
