Chapter 2876: Chapter 2877: The Wind’s Enlightenment

”And then? I asked you to explain the basis of each condition. For the first three, although I don’t quite agree with your reasoning, I can reluctantly accept them. But what about the last condition? Why do you need to borrow something with ’extremely powerful’ attack power?”

Laplace looked at Angel and continued, ”Since it’s just about dragging a dead object into the Dream Realm, what use is something with strong attack power?”

Having attack power implies the need for combat.

But nothing in what Angel said mentioned anything that required fighting.

Moreover, although Laplace had never been to the Dream Realm, she knew it was vast and untraceable. This is also why the Dream Conch is considered a trivial mysterious object, because once you enter the Dream Realm, you can’t be found.

Since any dead object dragged into the Dream Realm would be completely lost, an extraordinary item with attack power is no different from an ordinary object without attack abilities.

So why does Angel want something with strong attack capabilities?

Angel did his best to explain other questions; but for this one, after thinking for a long time, he said, ”There is a basis for this condition. However, I currently cannot explain it, but if my research succeeds in the end, I believe you will understand even without my explanation.”

”If it fails, an explanation would be meaningless.”

Laplace said lightly, ”You just don’t want to explain.”

Because Angel’s words could apply to any previous condition, but saying it at this time means he doesn’t want to give an explanation for this condition, or he can’t come up with a reason.

Facing Laplace’s sarcasm, Angel remained silent.

Despite Angel’s somewhat perfunctory explanation for the last condition, Laplace still said, ”I’ll think about it for a moment and then give you an answer.”

With that, Laplace closed her eyes, adopting a demeanor of not wanting to be disturbed.

Angel guessed that Laplace was likely consulting with her other temporal body, so to avoid interrupting, he voluntarily stepped aside and waited quietly for Laplace to return to her senses.

In the waiting process, Angel was also silently calculating gains and losses in his mind.

He wasn’t particularly considering the success or failure of the plan now, but whether involving Laplace in the plan was appropriate.

When he revealed part of the plan, he implicitly agreed to let Laplace participate. However, this was more out of necessity.

Because Laplace was an indispensable part of the ”right time, right place, right people,” without her involvement, the plan would be hard to form. So, at that moment, when Angel revealed the plan, he did so without much thought, naturally involving Laplace.

Now, looking back on it, thinking seriously, was it the right choice to involve Laplace when they hadn’t known each other long?

If it were about bringing Laplace into the Wilderness of Dreams, Angel would agree; in fact, when he first met Laplace, he had the intention of drawing her into the Wilderness of Dreams. But Laplace left too quickly then, not giving Angel the opportunity to speak privately, so he let it go.

However, this time it’s not just about bringing Laplace into the Wilderness of Dreams, but about creating a new ”Wilderness of Dreams” together, is this really appropriate?

After much contemplation, Angel still didn’t come up with a definitive answer.

However, he did realize one thing.

His perspective and vision were too narrow.

Thinking about appropriateness now is just creating worry for himself.

Whether it’s appropriate can only be judged after the final result is out.

If ultimately, Angel successfully constructs a new Wilderness of Dreams, then without a doubt, Laplace was fitting. Having experienced the destruction of the Abyss’s Wilderness of Dreams, Angel knows how difficult it is to construct a Wilderness of Dreams. If it’s built successfully, whether Laplace played a ”right people” role or not, Angel would assume she did. After all, sometimes the ”right people” effect doesn’t have tangible proof, and Angel can’t exactly ask the will of the Mirror World if Laplace influenced it. So, as long as it’s successful, Angel assumes it had an effect.

If Angel fails and can’t construct a new Wilderness of Dreams, then... it doesn’t necessarily mean Laplace isn’t suitable.

It just means everything performed as expected.

The probability of success is low; the probability of failure is higher. Failing is the normal performance.

And even if it fails, there’s no need to mind much; even if Laplace becomes suspicious, it’s okay. He just needs to breezily talk around it at that time.

Since it has already failed, the right to explain lies with Angel. He can spin the story however he wants, without really having to tell Laplace about the principles of constructing the Wilderness of Dreams, the intricacies, and the favorable aspects.

So, there isn’t an issue of appropriateness.

In simple terms, creating a new Wilderness of Dreams is undoubtedly a grand plan. However, because Angel thought too hastily without prior preparation, the grandeur of the plan lost some weight in his heart.

And because of this absence of weight, Angel concerned himself with trivial gains and losses.

Actually, in the epic torrents of history, these small matters are trivial.

Realizing this point, Angel’s mindset became much calmer.

Several minutes later, Laplace finally emerged from her thoughts. She glanced at Angel in the distance and said softly, ”I agree. However, I will specify some constraints.”

Angel nodded, ”Please go ahead.”

Laplace: ”Two points. First, as you mentioned, you cannot actively investigate or touch the items I present.”

Angel agreed without hesitation, ”Fine.”

Laplace continued, ”Second, the item I bring forth indeed possesses strong attack capabilities, but it is in an inert state. Without the correct activation method, it will not have any attack abilities. Once activated, it may not be able to kill the giant beasts outside the ancient city in the mural, but it should be able to harm them. This is the utmost I can achieve based on the four conditions you provided.”

Laplace might have other means to inflict greater damage on the beasts, but those means might not satisfy Angel’s other conditions.

Therefore, she stated that this is the strongest attack means after striving to meet Angel’s requirements.

After a pause, Laplace added, ”However, I will not tell you its activation method.”

Angel nodded again, ”No problem.”

Laplace: ”Since you agree, I will have Luigi bring you the items you need. This may take some time as my main body is deep within the Sea of Void Mirror.”

Angel: ”I understand. By the way, I hope Lady Laplace will agree to a small request of mine.”

Laplace: ”As I mentioned before, you can freely ask any questions or requests. Whether I agree or respond, I will judge on my own.”

Angel: ”I hope that Lady Laplace will not spread anything that happened here today, whether it has already happened or is about to happen, it should all remain confidential.”

Laplace pondered for a moment, then nodded, ”Fine. However, you must also adhere to this.”

She also did not want to leak anything about the murals.

Angel: ”I’m afraid I can’t agree to that.”

Laplace squinted, looking coldly at Angel.

Angel continued to speak for himself, ”I intend to tell certain individuals about the research related to the sweet dreams. If the research fails, I need my mentor to help me find the errors; if successful, I need someone to help further optimize the research direction and content.”

”However, the rest, I will not reveal—such as the murals left in this Mirror Space. Unless you agree, I won’t tell a second person.”

Laplace thought carefully. What Angel said made some sense. Although many wizards conduct independent research, most of these wizards are those with abundant experience, extensive lifespan, and sufficient strength and knowledge.

Angel looks quite young, and many experiences and knowledge that require time to settle are clearly lacking, so it’s normal for him to need others to fill the gaps.

As long as nothing about the mural is revealed, Laplace thought for a moment and agreed: ”Alright.”

After making the agreement, the atmosphere suddenly became stagnant. Since Luigi had not arrived, the research could not proceed.

For a moment, they found themselves at a loss for words.

Angel thought for a moment, moved his gaze away from Laplace, and looked at Speedy in the distance.

Ever since Speedy arrived in this reflected space, seeing those colorful winds, it was like a wild horse that had broken free, mingling with the wind, doing who-knows-what, and never returned.

Previously, Angel had been deciphering the mural, so he didn’t pay attention to Speedy.

Now, when he followed the power of the contract and cast his gaze to Speedy, he was suddenly stunned, his lips involuntarily curling upwards into a smile.

Because, what Speedy was doing now was really quite amusing.

Speedy was actually not far from him, swirling around the waist of a big tree.

It had changed its body color to beige, just like the surrounding beige wind, and then imitated the trajectory of the wind, transforming into a ”wind carpet,” seemingly trying to lure the birds on the branches to land on it.

However, these birds coexisted with the beige wind, and when combined, they could become the key to unlocking the treehouse, and the birds could transform into bird lamps, illuminating the hall inside the tree trunk.

So even though Speedy mimicked the appearance of the beige wind, it still failed to attract the birds’ attention.

After chasing several birds without success, Speedy appeared quite dejected.

Just at this time, Angel’s gaze fell upon it.

Speedy seemed a bit embarrassed, with a slight shake, the beige ”overcoat” disappeared, and it quietly flew up from below to Angel’s side.

Angel, after much effort to hold back his laughter, wanted to ask what Speedy was doing earlier.

But before he could ask, he saw Speedy’s gaze shift again to the pink wind at the treetop.

”Hey, that’s enough playing. The other colored winds are fine, but you even set your sights on the pink wind? If you don’t want to fall into a deep sleep, you’d better stay away from the pink wind.” Angel said in a low voice.

With Angel’s intervention, Speedy halted its steps forward.

However, its mind remained restless, and after a moment of hesitation, it sent a request to Angel through the contract.

Speedy expressed itself directly, wanting to experience the pink wind up close.

And the reason given was that these winds had completely different attributes than itself, possibly providing some enlightenment.

”Enlightenment” was Angel’s translation; Speedy’s expression ability was even poorer than Dangross. What it roughly meant was that by blending into these winds, it had gained many indescribable wind protocols, which seemed to enhance it.

Yet it was only ”seemed.”

Because when Angel further inquired about specific benefits, Speedy couldn’t answer at all.

That’s also why Angel used ”enlightenment”—only the effect of insight, but whether it could be practically applied was still unknown.

Even though it’s uncertain if it will be useful, since Speedy rarely makes a request, Angel thought for a moment and turned his gaze to Laplace.

After telling Laplace about the situation, she didn’t ask much and simply waved her hand, summoning a small cluster of pink wind from the center of the treetop to stop beside Speedy.

With Angel’s consent, Speedy immediately transformed into a swimming fish, diving into the pink wind, merging with it.

Being of wind attribute, at first glance, it looked like Speedy disappeared. If not for Angel’s contract power as a locator, he might not be able to detect where Speedy was.

After entering the pink wind, Speedy did not give any feedback, confirming it was safe, so Angel left it alone.

...

Time slowly passed, and about half an hour later.

Laplace, who had been deep in thought, suddenly raised her head to look at the sky.

Angel, puzzled, followed her gaze.

In the calm sky, a prism-shaped crystal suddenly appeared, and along with its appearance, a melodious sound of a harp came from the crystal.

”Standing in the light, trying to feel glory, hands dirty.”

”Hiding in the night, unwilling to chase starlight, feet busy.”

”Rivers, starry rivers, all grand and magnificent.”

”Thousands of homes, lights shine, but not on me.”

After the harp sound, there was a segment of incomprehensible chant.

Laplace: ”He’s here.”

This ”he,” needless to say, was the bard Luigi.

Angel: ”Hmm... should I compliment him on his poetry singing?”

Laplace gave Angel a strange look: ”Didn’t you notice that his harp playing and the words he recites don’t match at all?”

Luigi’s harp playing, with a sound as melodious as a pastoral song. But his recited words have a tone of unnecessary lament.

Angel is no fool; of course, he could hear it. However, with Laplace by his side, Angel politely asked so.

”I noticed, it indeed doesn’t match much,” Angel followed Laplace’s words.

Laplace glanced at Angel: ”He is me, and I am him. Are you criticizing me?”

Angel: ”???”

Laplace turned her head, continuing to look at the sky’s prism, said calmly: ”Forget it, it doesn’t matter.”

Angel: ”...”

Angel was now also at a loss for words; he wanted to separate Laplace from her Temporal Body, but Laplace insisted on saying they were together; when he regarded all Temporal Bodies as one person, Laplace would refer to them as ”he, she, it,” as if their actions had nothing to do with her.

Angel was now confused.

After thinking for a moment, Angel shook his head inwardly: Forget it. For now, let’s assume it’s a multiple personality...

Whether in the future they should be viewed as one person or three, when there’s an opportunity to let Laplace enter the Wilderness of Dreams, we’ll see if one person or three appear.
